Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

"How are you feeling? If you're still uncomfortable, I'll take you to the hospital,"

I said out of sympathy for her. She seemed successful—she didn't deserve what that man did to her. Slowly, she sat down on the sofa and said, "I feel embarrassed about myself. I'm fine—it's just a normal breakdown. I'll get better in a few minutes. I don't like owing anyone anything. You might find it strange, but that's just how I am."

After hearing her, I sat on the sofa and crossed one leg over the other.

"I just started acting like a good man, and now you're taking me back to square one, Miss Clara. Still, I respect your boundaries. I have a bar I want to redesign, and if you don't mind, I'd like you to take care of it. I appreciate you, but the best way to treat emotional pain is self-development,"

I said.

Clara brushed her hair back and that smile appeared on her face. "Alright, I'll inspect the bar and then decide how I can repay your kindness by improving it. By the way, you're not from this neighborhood—what's your name?"

The sad tone had disappeared from her face.

"I'm Vikas Alexander, a former bank teller seeking revenge on my manager. I now own a bar called Crimson Light,"

I said, then laughed.

"I see you've already started your self-improvement, Mr. Vikas. Let me take a shower, and I'll look into your bar. Fadro can go to hell,"

Clara said as she headed toward the bathroom upstairs.

I was watching the news channel when I was shocked to see my manager, Amy, alongside a wealthy man—it seemed she had married him.

The company logo was visible in the background; it belonged to one of the businessmen who had made his own way. Judging by the clothes she was wearing, they looked worth millions.

"Maybe my appearance wasn't good enough for her, but she made a mistake when she fired me. She'll pay the price. I'll make sure she kneels before me,"

I breathed slowly and turned off the TV when I heard knocking at the door. Before I could open it, two men and a woman in her fifties barged in, followed by a young woman in her early twenties.

"Clara, you whore! Where are you, you bitch?"

the woman screamed as she brushed past me and went upstairs as if I didn't exist. Her veins were bulging. I was about to turn and stop her, but the blonde girl grabbed my hand.

"You're not her lover, Fadro. Clara doesn't have casual relationships. Who are you? A journalist? Did you come to cover the news about her being the illegitimate daughter of New Dawn Corporation?"

The girl's words were calm. Her gaze swept over my body from head to toe. She slowly bit her lower lip, as if imagining something lustful.

I stepped closer to her. If I had to complete the weekly missions, I'd make sure to use this girl properly in my plan. I slowly brushed my fingers over her lips and said, "My name is Vikas. How about I show you what Clara hasn't been able to see yet?"

I whispered each word as my lips drew closer to hers. She gestured for the two men to wait outside. I noticed a ring on her finger—I didn't know whether she was engaged or married. It didn't matter to me as long as I completed the weekly mission.

When I saw that glint in her eyes, she ran one hand over my arm while drawing lines across my chest with the other, staring into my eyes as she said, "My mother's argument with Clara will take a while, so I can listen to your story, Mr. Vikas…"

That was the green light I needed. I pushed her onto the sofa and crushed my lips against hers. For some reason, approaching women like this felt thrilling—but Samita's image flickered in my mind.

Every time I looked at this girl, I saw Samita. I shook my head hard, trying to finish this as quickly as possible. Clara's screaming began to rise from the upper floor—the sound of furniture breaking was clear.

"Ooh… ah, you're really good at this…"

She began moaning beneath me. I increased the pace of my movements inside her, making her feel as if she were floating above the clouds.

"Do you know something? Your father had a heart attack after his secret was exposed. He lost deals worth thousands, and on top of that, Maria's husband's family is furious about hiding it from them. Believe me, Clara, you'll regret this. I already informed the journalists to come here. You have to admit that your mother seduced my husband, and that you did this to ruin your sister's beautiful marriage,"

the stepmother's voice shouted loudly upstairs. They were speaking in sharp, heated tones.

"Didn't your mother take a long time? It's already been half an hour,"

I said as I adjusted our position so she was on top of me. At that moment, her mother came downstairs with Clara behind her. At the same time, several journalists entered the room.

They started taking pictures. Instead of Clara, the girl on top of me became their current model. When she realized the trouble she'd gotten herself into, she jumped off me, trying to cover her chest. Her underwear was tossed beside the sofa—she hadn't noticed it. I picked up her bra in my hand.

"Maria, what on earth are you doing? Have you gone mad?"

Her mother slapped her in front of the media while the cameras kept capturing this scandal.

"Mom, you married an old man my father's age just to satisfy your greed. He doesn't please me the way I want, and that old man owns everything. Cheating on him should be normal— isn't that how things work in our house?"

Slap after slap, until the girl fell to the ground. I had already composed myself. I placed the bra in the mother's hand and said, "This belongs to your daughter. You should have protected her instead of letting her expose herself like this to strangers,"

I said firmly as I stared into the older woman's eyes.
