Chapter 43 - Combat Class (2)

CHAPTER 41

After the homeroom class, everybody were needed to attend their aspect class.

The Aspirant Corps. Aside from training the Aspirants on how to fight the Abberants and everything they needed to know, they also taught them how to use their abilities optimally.

Hence several aspect class for the Aspirants to attend. The aspect class was where they would train in what they were actually good at.

Or… interested in.

And currently, Ray chose the combat class. Van chose the tech class, while Kai chose the ability class and hence the trio went their separate way for their classes.

With Kai asking them to keep out of trouble no matter what.

Infact, with how worried he was, he forcefully linked his watch to Van and Ray's.

A few days in the corps was enough for Ray to figure out the other usage of the watch on his wrist aside from displaying his credit balance and grade.

It also served as a communication tool. Any watch linked to his could send a message or voice note for his ears only.

Also, it served as a tracker for the higher ups. When an Aspirant was seriously injured, it would ping the corps and help would be sent their way.

Also… if an Aspirant stayed out late beyond the 10pm curfew, the corps would be pinged.

This was the corps way of protecting each and every Aspirant as some of them came from powerful families or factions so their protection was the corps duty.

But of course, with the nature of their job and career path, death was inevitable.

But Ray has already decided not to be part of the body bags hence he was on his way to his class with his watch showing the way for him.

It took only twenty minutes for him to walk into the hall used for the class.

Stepping in, his eyes caught a man seated on a chair which was placed a metre in front of a wall.

This wall was ladened with several weapons that gleamed softly.

The man himself wasn't sitting relaxedly, he leaned forward. Eyes fixed on the space ahead as he locked his fingers together while placing his knuckles under his chin.

Through his outfit, his bulging muscles could be seen as his touseld black hair framed his face.

A certain kind of aura was felt in the air causing Ray to shudder for a bit the longer he stared at the man.

With a silent gulp, he walked away from the door to the corner of the hall with the other Aspirants in the place.

He didn't bother to pay anybody any attention as he kept his gaze fixed on the ground with his arms crossed.

'... I'm even bothered about something. My system has already declared that I'm a meta, right? So why hasn't the grade on my watch change yet?' he pondered as he stared at the number 1.2 still being displayed boldly.

'Is there something wrong with the ability? Or is it because it was called a bloodline by my system? Argh! This is all too confusing.' He groaned inwardly.

Only for a loud snap to jolt him out of his thoughts to see the instructor rising up from his seat.

Then.

Thud—!

The door to the hall closed shut with a loud thud startling the Aspirants in the room for a moment.

"Good day you all. I'm Captain Jake of the second squad of the Iron Corps." The man introduced himself calmly.

But his words sent a certain chill through the air as all the Aspirants gawked at the man with wide eyes.

'A captain? The rank below a General? Yoo! This is perfect. The only problem is that he is from the Iron Corps. Would have loved it if he was from the Vanguard order.' Ray scoffed inwardly as he stared at the man intently.

'... It's like this whole corps is run by the Iron Corps. But it's understandable because the Vanguard order are too busy battling the Abberants to send representatives to teach kids.'

"...."

A few moments of silence was felt in the air as Captain Jake stared at each and every one of the Aspirants before continuing:

"I shut the door knowing that a few Aspirants are still on their way. But I don't care. Punctuality is all I care about and if they are unable to be punctual, they can transfer to the other classes."

Nobody dared say a peep as the aura exuding from the captain was intense.

He looked harmless without a single weapon on him but for some reason, that made him the more deadly.

Who knows….he might be hiding an ability or something.

"Without further ado, let's begin today's class. But first, what is this class about?" The captain asked a rhetorical question as he wasn't expecting anybody to answer.

"... This class which I will be taking, is where you will all learn a mix of some hand to hand combat along with weapon mastery. Now, I won't claim to be a prodigy in weapon usage, but I sure I'm a prodigy in fighting."

A pause was observed as the Captain's eyes scanned the crowd only for a hesitant raise of a hand to interrupt him.

With a nod from the Captain, the girl asked;

"What use is a weapon against Abberants? And what use is a combat against those creatures? I mean, before one pulls a punch, you might have been crushed already."

"...."

Another round of silence was observed as Jake's brows were scrunched up for a moment before he pinched the bridge of his nose.

A sigh escaped his lips before replying;

"And who said the Abberants are our only enemy? Who knows, you might need it against a much more humanoid foe or even a human.

Besides, not everybody have an ability in this world so shouldn't they have a chance to protect themselves?"

Ray nodded along with the Captain's words.

'Okay. I'm starting to like this man.'

"The goal is to learn it. Whether you use it now or not, is up to you and the circumstances you would be in."

"Understood?"

— Yes Sir!

The Captain nodded with a satisfied smile.

"... Now. Let's begin. Today's class, we would be looking at the different type of kicks we have and we will be focusing on one for a while."

— Sure Sir!
