Chapter 19 - New Techniques | Self

[Draconic Core Unlocked!]

[Draconic Core Type - Self-Defined Order]

[Oooh- Wait, huh, I thought it'd be Spatial? Well, whatever. Your Core Type is incredibly unique, so I'll need a bit of time to see what it even does...]

"While you do that, I'll just be making another technique... I do need to keep up or reach Tellus's level soon. The gap is going to become wide after all." Caelus thought

Moving a bit more forward, his tail swung to the side, and then to the other side, he felt a little excited, and felt more like himself, he didn't like talking yes, but he also didn't want to go without people, he tried to use what he knew, and he didn't want to fall under some belief which forces him to stay stagnant in belief, it felt uncomfortable.

Caelus concentrated, moving his body. The space around him closed, from where he was and where the dummy was; it felt meaningless in distance, a single step, and he was already next to it, and in the second one, he now stood behind it.

It felt like he'd teleported, but this time he didn't have the nausea from doing so. "...Hmm, The Name should be Horizon Step, Feels Fitting." Caelus thought, finding the name fitting.

Once again trying, though still needing to concentrate, he needed a lot less time to adjust himself to continue moving, a single step and he was at the dummy's side, only to go past and be infront of it, he tried using it once more, going farther than two steps, continuing forward as he noticed Tellus walk into the Arcane training Area alongside Sol.

Another step, as he closed the distance between them, the space felt compressed. Another step, and he was already near. Going one more, only for him to feel pushed back. Stopping, he noticed that it was limited to only a short range, so he wouldn't be able to use it to go anywhere as long as he had enough Mana.

As Tellus turned, seeing Caelus far away, only for him to get closer in giant steps, flickering as if he'd teleported, by the time he was near them, she was puzzled. "Oh, you learned to teleport, wow, at least it'll be easier to travel now." She spoke, sighing, wondering why he did it multiple times instead of just appearing next to her.

"Oh, Tellus, this is different. He didn't teleport. I saw him using Mana on his feet and the surrounding area. It seems he used a movement technique." Sol spoke, a smile on his face, his golden hair flowing in the wind, and new clothing which resembled that of a high-ranking mage.

"Indeed. I only had one technique, so I found it inconvenient. I'm going to be using this a bit more, though. I do need to see what Princess Elysia gave." Caelus replied. Taking out the bag he had from his other pocket, which was a normal one, opening it, and seeing a note alongside what looked like a generic talisman.

"...What-" Caelus blinked, reading it as if it weren't a single word or letter, but instead smaller writing.

"Invitation to the Grand Tournament, held Every Fifteen Years, only for those Foundation to Virtuoso in the Realm, all species and all people allowed, only those not allowed are criminals and those who violate the rules of the Tournament. Come to the Marou Dynasty to participate."

Caelus blinked, reading it, putting it back, and taking out the five hundred gold. Along with that, he saw a ton of herbs that were probably going to be used to make pills.

"I should really get started with that, shouldn't I?" Caelus thought, holding it, only to put it back as Tellus and Sol were already passed, seeing as he wasn't really saying anything. He didn't mind it.

Going back to the dummies, Caelus's step became quicker. At the same time, he held his staff facing down, his technique of Horizon Step as he appeared behind the dummy, his hand swinging, holding up the staff as it pointed directly at the head of the dummy, a slash flying out, right that instant, cutting through it.

The dummy was sent flying, crashing into another one and causing a giant storm of dust only for that too calm down and settle off, on which to the side he could see Sol and Tellus fighting, Sol was moving swiftly, seeming like he was experienced, on the other hand Tellus's body was moving properly, she wasn't a slack, at least from what he saw.

"...She could change up how she fights, just a little, would it be that hard?" Caelus thought, but, noticing a stray blast from Sol, who fought back with music, something which he thought sounded familiar, at least from where he was from.

But it felt impossible; it was another world entirely, but he was overthinking. Another stray blast shot off, like it was sliced by Tellus's blade, flying over to Caelus, reaching him in an instant.

Reacting quickly, he began moving his Mana up to his hand, which shot up to block the stray, only for it to deflect. The moment it hit, he absorbed part of it, a small amount, only to send the rest off, crashing into the wall.

Both Sol and Tellus stopped, realizing their attacks were being a danger to others. Both stopped as Sol's smile dropped, his hand moving as he looked at Tellus and nodded. "Apologies, Caelus." He spoke; even at a distance, his voice was audible.

Caelus enhanced his voice with Mana, just a tiny amount, not too much that it would hurt. "It's fine. Just be careful with your attacks... Though I think I've learned something new." Caelus continued, a smile on his face.

Sol listened and nodded. "Interesting, Dragons learn incredibly fast... No wonder the Church didn't want them to cultivate or even know how to." Sol noted him as Dangerous, but not someone who would cause chaos, especially with how calm and docile he's been acting.

Tellus, on the other hand, sheathed her blade, seeing as they were going too far; she would stop fighting in general, as she found that was the best reaction for this.

"Well, I am going to an auction, and I need to get something that will help me with my next breakthrough," Tellus spoke, walking past Sol. She left the training area.

"Is she mad?" Caelus asked, confused, why she left so quickly.

"No, that is how she normally acts when she's done something that hurts another on accident," Sol replies, his voice calm, and a fan covering the lower half of his face.

"Weird, he's covering his face... well, whatever." Caelus nodded, turning back towards the dummy. He took a breath as he replenished his Mana, having used very little.

"I could do something else. Let me see..." Caelus looked towards the dummy, realizing he was still anchored to his old world, and that he didn't need to, at least he assumed right now, moving his hand, his Mana flowed out, reaching the dummy, only for the thread connecting to become separate, and the Mana in the dummy spread across its entire form.

Lifting it up, Caelus pulled it towards him as his leg moved, flying up and slamming into the torso of the dummy. sending it flying to the side, only for him to then send out a flurry of his slashes, each one in a different direction, changing where it was going, and what direction it was facing. Crashing into the dummy as it hit the wall, cutting right through it, destroying it almost completely.

"...Okay, maybe I can be a bit more relaxed." Caelus chuckled, the dummy deformed, and reappeared where it had been initially, with the wall Mana pulling back the debris and dust, reforming the structure.

Caelus turned to another dummy. Using his Horizon Step, he moved forward, reaching for its front, only to move to the right. His technique finished as he grabbed the dummy's head and threw it into the sky.

Caelus's Horizon Step activated once more as he jumped up, applying Mana to increase the power of his jump, reaching the dummy in a fraction of a second, his staff faced down, Horizon Step finishing as he formed a ball of Mana, only to shape it into an arrow, its color changing to a light orange and dark yellow.

"...I should call this something more flashy." Caelus, despite his need to abide by physics, still wanted that part of him that held fantasy, which is why he read so much of it.

"Burning Temptation." Almost a way to mock the Church, as they called him evil, he'd name his techniques after it. The arrow flew down into the dummy, crashing into it and exploding outwards into a ball, only to climb up into the sky like a pillar.

Caelus's wings flew out as the ball formed, flying back as the pillar rose into the sky. Completely evaporating the dummy and some of the surrounding area, getting burnt by the flame, and melting due to the heat.

Landing next to Sol, who watched the flame and protected himself from any damage due to being given time before the attack flew out.

"...Indeed, Dragons are Dangerous... But he seems kind, it's weird why they were seen as evil, when they could've helped the Empire a lot, no other empire does such." Sol thought, looking towards Caelus with a smile.

"Using flames, is that supposed to be flattery towards me?" Sol spoke, laughing softly.

Caelus, realizing the similarity, became flustered. "Ah- No, it was just the first thing I thought of since I breathe fire," Caelus spoke, embarrassed that he made someone assume something.

"I'm simply joking, you don't need to take it seriously," Sol replied, his mood lightened. "...Maybe the downside is being socially awkward... Well, it doesn't matter as much. He's not what they made him out to be."

"I see," Caelus replied, finding it more embarrassing that he had misread it. Turning to the side, he heard a voice at the entrance of the Arcane area, something unfamiliar.

Four people entered: two of them were martial artists, and the girl, holding what looked like a brush. And the last guy used a blade.

Once they stopped and looked around to see if anyone else was here, they saw Sol waving at him, who waved back, closing his fan, and noticed Caelus, his tail swinging side to side as they waved, with them not caring that he even had one.

Only then did Caelus notice one of the guys also had a tail, and sharper claws, but he wasn't a Dragon, he didn't have horns, and his wings were large, so he couldn't be a Drake, so the only other option was a Wyvern.

A quick rush of wind came from the other side as Caelus turned, noticing Arjuna standing as someone else flying past, only to stop themselves midair, falling.

"...To many people, I'll have to go." Caelus blinked, turning to Sol. "I'll be going. I do wish to see what these Auctions are, along with testing something else." Caelus turned and looked up. Seeing the open roof, he found it much better. Jumping up, he launched himself far higher, using more Mana.

For a moment, he continued rising, slowing as he applied more Mana above him, then sent himself downwards at the speed he usually ran, only slowing after a few seconds so he didn't crash into the ground.

Landing softly, he noticed five, each for an Auction Area, separated, cleanly: one for awakening items, another for Foundation, then for Virutoso, then for Soul Formation, and finally the Heavenly Realization Realm.

Caelus knew which one he had to go to, assuming he had enough to at least get one item. Walking towards the entrance, he stopped.

[Goodness that took way too long, okay, so I have what Self-Defined Order does for your Cultivation!]
