After slaying the final abomination the living vessel of humanity’s collapse, Giselle is betrayed by the one name she buried deep within her soul. Torn apart and bleeding out upon the earth, she is met not by death, but by a presence as old as the land itself. It does not offer mercy. It does not grieve.
It bears witness.
From it, Giselle learns the truth: the fall of the world was not chaos, nor punishment. It was a trial a measured breaking, repeated again and again.
The world was never meant to endure.
Giselle was never meant to remain.
She was an Extra, an unmarked life cast into a cycle of endings, where a fate-bound protagonist has been reborn hundreds of times and failed each time. Where destiny is tested through ruin, and only those who satisfy the unseen laws are allowed to move forward.
When offered passage beyond the trial to step into the greater turning of existence, Giselle refuses. She will not walk another path paved with borrowed fate and endless suffering.
But the balance has already shifted.
