He stopped abruptly at the door and she paused, almost bumping into his back. "I have somewhere to be with my boss."
"We can have it some other time?" Rochelle called out, taking a step toward him.
But Thomas didn't stop or even look back. The door clicked shut behind him, leaving Rochelle alone in the silent office.
She stood there for a moment before slapping a hand over her own face. "Ugh... Rochelle, you sounded so desperate. Mrs. Colburn better double my salary for this."

"Is he gone?"
Brianna's head peeped into the office, her eyes scanning the room before landing on Rochelle, who still had her hands glued to her face in shame.
Rochelle quickly straightened her hair, trying to reclaim her dignity. "Yes. He's gone."
