Chapter 1 - prologue

8 months earlier…..

Carcasses, in different sizes and ages filled what used to be the basement floor of St. Helena medical center with a pungent odour. This didn't matter much though, not to the battalions of men clad in black intently ravaging the formerly plain-white lab set up.

Squish—

"crap" exclaimed one of our men in black. It was a lady in her late twenties, the disgust in her expression stemming from the chopped up, bloodied, pinky finger stuck to the sole of her boot, her new boot.

Using her pale left hand to hold up the boot, she placed her right on the nearest wall to support her tall, athletic looking frame, momentarily forgetting the walls were no longer white for a reason.

As if experiencing clarity of mind, she slowly took her palm off the crimson coloured wall and placed it directly in her line of sight.

"Hahh" an exasperated sigh was all she could let out, realizing she's now got blood on her hands. literally.

Her current posture was reminiscent of the flamingo who was given the gift of a mirror, only her story ended with her silver coloured braids swaying to the side as she lost her balance, and her curvy backside laying graciously on the concrete floor.

Try as she may, there was no use in keeping her lemon green eyes shut.

Her unnecessarily long, black trench coat was now drenched in the pool of blood she had hopped over moments before she fell, and nothing was going to change that.

Finding the resolve to look was a decision she'd come to regret.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhh" said the lady, LOUDLY.

Right next to her lay bare breasts, albeit of a corpse. No doubt the reason for its nudity being the same as the reason for the intense burns it had suffered.

A single strand of hair not being on its head made it look all the more mortifying, so much so that even the vice-magister of Luce Nera couldn't help but forget her field training.

Now you're probably wondering how we got here, but I'll do you one better and tell you what we have here. You guessed it right, it's a crime scene.

And the culprit??.

Well He's right in the room with us, or at least what's left of him.
