Chapter 69 - Chapter 69

Chapter 69

Roller coaster?

Hearing these three words, Ruka instinctively felt a twinge of fear.

But then she thought—my heart condition is already healed.

Playing one ride occasionally shouldn't be a big deal, right?

Looking at the roller coaster, a hint of longing appeared in her eyes.

"Okay! Let's ride the roller coaster!"

Seeing Ruka's eager expression, Ye Yu smiled faintly.

With him there, he didn't need to worry about Ruka's body having any problems.

He recalled the famous psychological phenomenon known as the "suspension bridge effect."

If two people who just met participate in highly stimulating activities together—

such as bungee jumping or skydiving—

it triggers physiological reactions: heart rate increases, adrenaline surges.

This very easily creates the illusion: "I'm falling for this person."

And for Ruka, this would be an amplified version.

She constantly monitored her heart rate to judge whether she was "falling in love."

Ye Yu's first plan was simple:

use the amusement park rides to make her heart race.

And so the two of them headed straight to the roller coaster.

Ruka watched as she was securely fastened in, a flash of joy in her eyes.

Then she turned her bright gaze toward Ye Yu.

"Ye Yu-kun, have you ridden a roller coaster before?"

"I guess you could say I have!"

(Back when fighting others, riding a flying car probably counts too.)

After the staff checked the equipment, the roller coaster began to move.

At first it was just gentle ups and downs, plus some curves.

Everyone on board remained fairly calm.

But soon the hills became much steeper.

The car climbed to the top and then plunged at extreme speed.

By now, some girls with lower tolerance were already screaming loudly.

Ye Yu glanced lightly at Ruka and saw her face still expressionless.

Ye Yu wasn't in a hurry—

the real highlight of this roller coaster was yet to come.

The car slowed slightly, then began climbing vertically upward.

This section was a near-vertical climb against gravity.

About 20 seconds later,

the car reached the absolute peak.

At this point, everyone could clearly see what lay below.

Ye Yu could distinctly hear the girls behind him already crying and begging to get off.

Ye Yu was ready—if Ruka started screaming,

he would immediately hold her hand.

Then, the car plunged downward at a 120-degree angle.

Instantly, screams filled the air nonstop.

Ye Yu turned to enjoy Ruka's screaming face—

and was instantly stunned.

On Ruka's beautiful face appeared a brilliant smile.

Her eyes shone with thick joy.

She was actually… smiling?

This roller coaster has no dignity at all?

And so, under Ruka's delighted gaze,

the roller coaster slowly came to a stop.

When they got off, the others showed varying degrees of discomfort—

some still shaken, some with weak legs, some loudly recounting the experience with friends.

But Ye Yu saw Ruka step off glowing with excitement.

"Ye Yu-kun, what should we ride next? Hurry and take me!"

She eagerly grabbed Ye Yu's arm and headed toward the exit.

Seeing how happy she was, Ye Yu couldn't help asking.

"You're really not scared?"

Sarashina Ruka shook her head with a smile.

"No way! It was really fun!"

Seeing her calm demeanor, Ye Yu felt like his Plan 1 was about to fail.

As expected, afterward he took Ruka on the amusement park's most thrilling rides.

But whether it was the pirate ship, the pendulum, or the drop tower—

Ruka smiled through every single one.

Several times she checked her phone for her heart rate,

but each time she put it away in disappointment.

For normal people, these extremely intense rides

couldn't make her heart race at all?

Finally, the two got on the Ferris wheel.

Ruka happily pressed herself against the window, looking down.

"Ye Yu-kun, come look! We're so high up right now!"

Seeing how excited she was, Ye Yu felt a little speechless.

Is it really that fun?

But Ye Yu still cooperated, walking over and pretending to be thrilled.

"This is my first time coming to an amusement park with a girl. It feels really fun."

Ruka nodded.

It was her first date with a boy and her first time at an amusement park.

Her experience was especially good.

Though her heart rate hadn't changed noticeably,

she truly felt happy.

So this is what dating feels like—so wonderful!

Then she turned to look at Ye Yu and asked curiously.

"By the way, Ye Yu-kun, why did you book a rental girlfriend?

With your situation, you don't seem like someone who can't find a girlfriend."

Though she hadn't spent much time with Ye Yu,

her impression of him was very good.

Handsome, well-mannered, not frivolous like she imagined customers might be.

He didn't have the typical male chauvinism and cared about her opinion.

He also carried a unique aura—nothing about him screamed "can't get a girlfriend."

"I'm a bit shy, so I've never had a girlfriend.

I happened to see an ad for this app, got curious, and opened it.

Then I saw you at first glance and couldn't help but book you."

Is that really true?

Ruka looked at Ye Yu with some doubt, feeling like this man was hiding something.

Seeing Ruka's expression, Ye Yu knew his first plan had completely failed.

He could tell Ruka was very happy and had a good impression of him.

But that wasn't enough—he didn't want just that.

So Ye Yu had no choice but to activate Plan 2.

Ye Yu smiled at Ruka and asked curiously.

"Then why did Ruka choose to become a rental girlfriend?

I don't think it's for money—is there some special reason?"

Ruka immediately turned her head to look out the window again.

"That's a secret!"

She wanted to simulate dating and experience the feeling of falling in love.

Of course she couldn't tell Ye Yu—someone she had just met—that.

The Ferris wheel continued rising.

When it reached the highest point,

the originally bright sky suddenly darkened.

Ruka curiously looked upward—then her pupils shrank in shock.

A gigantic python was circling in the sky, forming a huge ring.

"Ye, Ye Yu! There's a snake in the sky!!!"

Hearing her words, Ye Yu chuckled lightly.

"How could there be a snake in the sky? You must be seeing things."

Then, following her gaze, he pretended to be shocked and shouted.

"Whoa, what a huge snake!"

The massive serpent had two enormous wings gently flapping behind it.

Then it opened its mouth slightly—

a huge bolt of lightning shot out.

It struck the Ferris wheel they were in with terrifying force.
