Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Journey

"The world is a curious place, full of conspiracies and mysteries. I wonder if I'll find any of them?" a young man with black hair asks himself. His eyes glow with an intense crimson light as he gazes at the great moon hanging in the night sky before preparing for bed.

Meanwhile, far away, another young man—this one with blonde hair and blue eyes, wearing ordinary pajamas—says to himself: "I hope tomorrow is a better day for all of us," he mutters while tidying his messy room.

Finally, a third youth with red hair and green eyes, wearing reading glasses, reads a book in his room in silence. All three are preparing for a trip. A lottery was held in the city, and they were the winners of the grand prize: a trip to a new water park set to open on a nearby island. The three are strangers to one another; they met for the first time at the drawing, exchanging no more than a few words. In total, there were ten winners, including these three young men.

On the morning of the departure, the first young man woke up in his room dressed in his usual attire: a black jacket over a plain white t-shirt and casual pants. He hears a knock at his door and opens it immediately, revealing his younger sister's face.

"Good morning! Mom said to wake you up before leaving; she already has everything ready. And try not to get into trouble, okay, Alex?"

Alex simply nods and replies: "I think you should worry about yourself. Look at the time—you're already late!" He points to the wall clock, which reads 8:45 AM.

Startled by the time, she rushes off, grabbing her backpack as she shouts: "Alright, bye! See you when you get back from the trip!"

Alex just laughs at the situation and begins his morning routine. He lives in a relatively comfortable house with his parents and his younger sister, Iris. They attend different schools; his school recently went on strike due to friction between the teachers and the administration.

Elsewhere, on a rather ordinary street in an even more ordinary house, lives the blonde youth named Dante. He changes clothes, putting on a standard blue shirt and striped pants. An only child, he recently moved with his parents to a small but very well-organized house. He hasn't made any friends in the city yet, having only briefly spoken to two guys during the lottery—which he entered at the insistence of a flyer distributor on the street.

And finally, in a large, well-kept house is Harry. He sits in his room, continuing the book from the previous night, dressed in formal clothes and sipping a cup of tea. He is the son of entrepreneurs with major connections at the city port; they "pulled some strings" to ensure he won that lottery. He was unaware of this, believing it was pure luck. He also lives with his younger sister, Alice, who is out at school. Having exceptional grades and already being approved for the year, he didn't need to attend school regularly. He closes the book, removes his glasses, and places them on the table. Standing up, he walks to the window and observes the street. "Well, I guess it's time to go," he thinks to himself.

Taking his pre-packed belongings, he leaves his home and heads to the port where the cruise ship for the winners is docked. Arriving there, he finds the two youths he spoke with briefly on the night of the drawing, as well as an elderly couple he had chatted with for longer. He greets the couple and goes to store his luggage. Dante, who was also stowing his things, sees him arrive.

"Hey! We meet again," Dante says. Harry looks at him. "I suppose that was expected since we all won, idiot. By the way, I haven't seen that guy from yesterday—the one with the black hair."

Just as he finishes his sentence, Alex arrives with his parents, who say their goodbyes. Carrying a single backpack with everything he needs, he finds the other two. "What's up? Am I too late?" Unlike the other two, he doesn't check his backpack. "No! There are still a few others yet to arrive—those girls, for example," Harry responds in a formal tone. "Aren't you going to put your things away?" Dante asks, turning to Alex. "I didn't bring as much as you guys, just the essentials."

They begin to board the ship when they spot a quartet of girls in the distance heading toward the boat. "Look at that, looks like they've already become best friends," Dante says with a laugh. "Oh no..." Alex mutters when he sees a brown-haired girl talking to another girl with dark hair like Alex's, but with blue eyes and some Asian features. "What is it?" Harry asks, not understanding the reaction. "I heard some girls won, but why did it have to be Yuki of all people?" Alex laughs as he says this. "Sounds like someone's in trouble," Dante says, laughing at the situation. "And who is she?" Harry asks as they walk together. "A classmate. You know, she's that popular girl who acts like she doesn't care about anyone," he replies. "Then what difference does it make if she's here? If she doesn't care, she shouldn't be a problem, or am I mistaken?" Harry says sarcastically. "Normally that would be true, but there is one person she cares about in a very suspicious way. As it turns out, that person is me! I'm not sure if this trip is going to be very safe," Alex says ironically.

They walk into the interior of the ship toward the cabins. "It's like my uncle says: life gives with one hand and takes with two," Dante jokes at Alex's expense.

After talking and going through all the procedures, the three head to the dormitories. Each has his own room since there are so few guests. Harry and Dante explore the ship while Alex stays in his room, only coming out when they are close to the island. Everyone gathers on the deck, looking at the massive water park. Yuki, seeing Alex, begins following him all the way to the deck, as their rooms were close to each other.

Alex looks at her and finally says something: "You must have made a pact to find me anywhere." "We aren't at school, you know... you don't have to act like that," she replies in an irritated tone. "Right, sorry. I'll try to forget my habits from back there for a bit," he responds more calmly.

Harry and Dante laugh together at his situation until they go over to meet him. "It's a beautiful park, don't you think?" Dante says excitedly. "Yes. And who is this?" Harry asks, just to tease Alex. "This is Yuki! we go to school together," Alex replies, inwardly cursing Harry for his intentions.

They finally disembark on the island and head to the hotel dormitories. The three decided to stay in the same room since they had larger suites available. "I'll get you back for that, Harry," Alex jokes about the earlier situation. "Sorry, I couldn't resist!" Harry replies, laughing hard. Dante joins in: "I thought about doing the same, but he was faster."

Since they arrived near nightfall after a long journey, they would only be able to explore the surroundings the next day.
