Gabriel studied the list of five available worlds in silence, his expression filled with clear curiosity.

This was different from the first choice. This time, it wasn't merely a place to complete a mission—it was a stage that felt perfectly suited for playing the role of Ash, without needing to hold back too much.

Gabriel's gaze lingered a little longer on the second option: Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute.

He remained silent for a few seconds, clearly hesitating—though his inclination was already quite apparent.

Morgan, on the other hand, offered no comment. She still sat quietly on Gabriel's shoulder, her tiny hands folded neatly, eyes fixed on something ahead.

But it wasn't the list of worlds that held her attention.

Her gaze returned to Gabriel's expression—how his eyes lingered too long, how his breathing slowed, and how his fingers hesitated for a moment before moving.

Morgan observed it all in silence. Not because she understood the worlds or was particularly interested in the choices before him, but because, for her, Gabriel's reaction mattered far more than any of the worlds listed before him.

Gabriel finally noticed her gaze and turned slightly. "…Fay?" he called softly. "Is something wrong? Do you know something about all these realities?"

Morgan didn't answer immediately. She only turned her gaze slightly away, as if reluctant to admit she had been watching for too long.

"No. It's nothing," she finally said, flatly. "I don't know anything about all these realities."

After a moment, without any overt emotion, Morgan added, "But… you do look more alive when looking at the second choice."

Gabriel gave a faint smile.

His hand moved again over the list of options—this time without hesitation.

As he read through the list of the three Main Missions he had to complete, Gabriel suddenly choked on his own breath and coughed violently. The sudden movement caused Morgan—perched on his shoulder—to jolt slightly.

Reflexively, Morgan reached out and grabbed Gabriel's ear to steady herself.

"—!"

Gabriel winced, unable to protest as his ear was pinched accidentally.

But before he could say anything, a brief flash of light enveloped them.

In an instant, Gabriel and Morgan vanished, leaving the dark, brick-walled room in complete silence.

***

The bright midday sky gradually darkened with gathering clouds. The sunlight dimmed, as if holding its breath.

In the front yard of Baron Kagenou's manor, the iron gates stood wide open.

There, Gabriel stood.

His body was small—about the size of a seven-year-old, due to the system having adjusted his form to fit his identity in this world.

His clothes were neat, though clearly not casual attire.

His tiny hands were clenched at his sides, as if bracing for something he didn't fully understand, even though he already knew.

Yet the main focus was no longer on him.

At this moment, Gabriel was being embraced by two girls.

One was an adult woman—her shoulders trembling violently, her face buried in Gabriel's black hair, tears streaming endlessly.

The other was a young girl named Claire Kagenou. She was two years older than him. Her hug was stiff, hesitant, yet firm—as if afraid that letting go would make the child in front of her vanish once again.

They both bore a striking resemblance.

The same face, the same eye shape, the same jet-black hair. His mother and older sister.

Mrs. Kagenou was the first to break down.

"You… you've finally truly come back…"

Her voice cracked. No formal greeting. No hesitation.

Just a mother who had finally found the child she had lost for seven long years.

Claire didn't sob like her mother. Yet her eyes were red, and her jaw clenched, holding back more than just tears.

"…so it's really you."

Her embrace tightened for a moment.

"My lost little brother… you're home…"

Behind them, Mr. Kagenou stood a few steps away. Upright, silent, letting the moment unfold without interruption.

Only after the sobbing had quieted slightly did he step forward.

"I have returned to bring our child home. Our son, Gabriel, who was kidnapped as a baby seven years ago."

The words were simple. Heavy. Final.

He bowed his head slightly toward Gabriel.

"Starting today—no."

"Starting this very second…"

"You are once again a part of this family."

Gabriel didn't answer immediately.

He knew everything. He knew who they were. He knew the truth.

Yet knowledge alone didn't automatically bring a sense of home.

After a few moments, he spoke softly.

"…I understand."

That was all.

Yet for Mrs. Kagenou, that single sentence was enough to make her embrace tighten again—as if she didn't want to let go, not even for a second.

Meanwhile, not far away, stood a boy with an almost unchanged expression.

His hair was black, his eyes black, wearing a simple white shirt and black shorts. He was the same age as Gabriel.

That boy was none other than Cid Kagenou.

He observed the scene in front of him with a flat gaze—too calm for a child his age.

"Oh… so…"

"Are you my older brother… or my younger brother?"

His tone was flat, as if the question were no more important than today's weather.

Yet behind Cid's expressionless face, his mind was racing—calculating in a fraction of a second.

Twins.

Kidnapped as infants.

Returned after seven years.

WO.

INCREDIBLE.

THIS IS A PLOT. THIS IS THE SEED OF A DARK ORGANIZATION. THIS CHILD SMELLS OF TRAGEDY.

Cid's eyes suddenly sparkled as he looked back at Gabriel. But… clearly, there was something off about that glimmer.

"Hair covering the bangs…" he murmured softly, in an extremely serious tone—as if he had just solved a major mystery.

"Oh. The eyes must be hiding secrets!"

He narrowed his eyes slightly.

Quiet.

Mysterious.

Haunted by past trauma.

Cid nodded faintly, satisfied with his own conclusion.

"Heh…"

"He might just fit as part of the right-hand narrative of shadows I've been thinking about lately."

Completely unaware—the child he was judging so meticulously was just a seven-year-old boy, standing stiffly in the middle of his family's embrace, not even thinking that far ahead.

It was no wonder Gabriel seemed awkward. At heart, he was an orphan raised in a foster home.

For him, the people there were the only family he had ever known.

Now, suddenly, he had a "new family"—the family of Baron Kagenou.

Confusion arose. He didn't know what to call them, especially since his status as Cid's twin was merely an identity granted by the Infinity Room System.

In practice, the Infinity Room creates identities by embedding past memories into the target reality, ensuring a person's existence is accepted without causing anomalies.

However, in Gabriel's case, the system did more than mere memory manipulation.

In addition to adjusting his age, the Infinity Room also altered Gabriel's biological structure—even his DNA—so that it fully aligned with his new family.

Thus, in this world, Gabriel was not an outsider.

He was a Kagenou.

And so, the emotional scene lasted for about five minutes before Claire took Gabriel around the house, introducing him to his new surroundings.

Afterwards, Claire escorted Gabriel to his room so he could rest after the long journey.

The room itself could be described as simple—but not entirely so.

Its layout was typical of a rural baron's residence: neat, functional, without excessive luxury.

A large bed occupied the center of the room, flanked by a wooden wardrobe and a study desk. A sizable window stood directly opposite the bed, allowing soft light to filter in.
