Chapter 88 - Knight Clad In Cruelty And Beauty Alike

Rinkai: Region Keter.

Beneath a surreal sky displaying layered spectrums of color, dotted with tiny points like stars reminiscent of night, stood a school—but not an ordinary school.

Its form seemed to be made of solid light, pulsing gently, as if breathing in harmony with the surrounding world.

Behind the school, Gabriel stood at the center of a wide Magic Circle.

Morgan, in a miniature form about 10 cm tall, sat on his shoulder.

The glow of geometric symbols lit up faintly, reflecting the warped reality of Rinkai.

Several hours had passed since Gabriel pierced the boundary of reality into this world, despite having a brief clash with the White Queen and her forces.

Now, Kurumi was with Sawa.

Meanwhile, Rinkai itself was more than just another dimension. It was a Neighboring World—a space created when the first Spirit was born through the Spirit Formula.

The existential rift caused by that Spirit's birth was so vast that it formed a second reality, existing alongside the human world.

Here, concepts, imagination, and will—which should have remained formless—gained tangible form.

Gabriel's objective remained the same: to perform a Servant Summon through the Ritual Circle and Chant, since he was not in a Type-Moon World.

However, he did not attempt to reach Akasha.

Instead, he directed his ritual toward the trace of Morgan's existential memory as the Queen of Winters—a concept, a legend, and a record of existence embedded in the foundation of the faerie world.

From there, he intended to summon a single name: Baobhan Sith.

Gabriel slowly extended his hand forward.

The eyes hidden beneath his dark hair radiated sharp focus. The air around him tensed, as if the world itself were holding its breath.

"Alright, Fey," he said calmly. "Let's begin."

Morgan gave a brief nod.

The pages of his digital Grimoire spun rapidly, stopping on one of Gabriel's rarely used Spells.

[- Spirit Magic: Spirit Dive -]

In an instant, Morgan's tiny body dissolved into particles of light, absorbed into Gabriel's being, intertwining their existences.

Gabriel's hair turned white and lengthened, while Morgan's asymmetrical magic circuits spread across his body, producing a sensation both electrifying and strangely comforting.

"Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill."

"Layer upon layer, compress and define."

"Let silver be the vessel of spirit."

"Let iron be the proof of form."

"Let stone be the anchor to the world of men."

"Let illusion be severed, and the hidden side revealed."

As the final words were spoken, the ritual circle flared a bright blue.

The Foundation of the Ritual had been activated.

"Raise a boundary against the fading wind."

"Let the four gates be sealed."

"Let the surface world fall silent."

The space around him became isolated, forming a dome that severed contact with the outside world—except for the flow of Mana that continued unhindered.

"Let the inverted path open."

"Let the hollow road beyond the world be reached."

"Let the land of dusk, where mystery still breathes, answer the call."

In the next instant, the information channels connecting Morgan's memories as the Queen of Faerie opened, linking directly to the Magic Circle, preparing Gabriel to continue the Ritual of Spirit Materialization.

"I call not as master of heroes, nor as heir to ancient crests. I stand as one who knows the unseen—and who offers mana, name, and will."

A brief silence hung as Gabriel drew a breath.

"Daughter of thorns, child of twilight. Knight clad in cruelty and beauty alike. If you hear the echo from the mortal shore—then cross the boundary."

The declaration of the contract echoed. Gabriel's Mana and the surrounding Mana condensed into a single point, forming a white orb the size of an adult's hand.

The air inside the ritual dome tensed, as if reality itself was holding its breath.

"Take this body as anchor."

"Take this world as stage."

"Walk beside me—not as tool nor ruler, but as blade and shadow bound by pact."

The bond was formed.

The channels connected.

"Come forth from the other side of the world—O knight of the fading fairyland. Tam Lin Tristan, Baobhan Sith."

In an instant, the white Mana orb pulsed—then exploded into a burst of red energy, thick like fresh blood spilled on snow.

The waves swept across the magic circle, yet were perfectly restrained by the boundary that had been established.

From the center of the light explosion, a figure slowly took shape. The contours of the body, the hair, the attire—all materialized as if painted by invisible hands.

A young, beautiful-faced girl appeared, her pointed ears marking the fairy blood that coursed through her veins.

Her long red hair flowed down her back, glimmering softly under the surreal light of Rinkai's sky.

On her head, a black thorn-shaped tiara sat askew, contrasting sharply with her pale skin.

Her attire was Victorian Gothic in style—a blend of red and white, with a layered skirt accentuating the silhouette of her long legs, paired with high-heeled shoes that hovered just above the ground.

Baobhan Sith had been summoned.

Her body floated a few feet above the ritual circle, surrounded by residual red particles that slowly faded like burning rose petals.

When her feet finally touched the surface of the magic circle, silence fell.

Her eyelids trembled before slowly opening.

A thin hush hung over the surreal, glowing air of Rinkai.

Baobhan Sith tilted her head slightly. Her delicate brows furrowed—she recognized the aura before her.

It was clearly someone she knew very well… yet their form of existence felt strange, like a familiar note played on a different instrument.

"Mother…?" she said cautiously—her voice far softer than her reputation suggested. "Since when did you become… Father…?"

Before Gabriel could answer—

BRRRT—

The Spirit Dive link was severed.

Gabriel's body was thrown a step backward, the magic circle trembled, and he fell to one knee.

Particles of light streamed out from his body, gathering once more to form Morgan in her original form before him, as Gabriel released his Grimoire equipment.

Morgan turned to face him. The Fairy's eyes narrowed slightly, assessing Gabriel's condition.

Sith blinked, clearly disturbed by the sudden shift. She stepped slightly to the side so she could see Gabriel clearly from behind Morgan's shoulder.

Gabriel looked at Morgan for a moment, then let out a short breath. "I'm fine, Fay."

Morgan turned halfway, her pale hair swaying gently.

"Of course you are not," she said flatly, though her gaze was sharp. "It is your body that is fatigued, not your soul. Do not force synchronization beyond the threshold of stability."

She exhaled softly, then added in a quieter tone, "However… the ritual succeeded. So for this once, I shall forgive your carelessness."

Her voice was cold—but it was clearly not anger. More like the reprimand of a queen concerned for her piece… or perhaps something more than that.

Seeing the closeness between them—and hearing the name "Fay" leave the lips of the man who had just emerged from her mother's body—Baobhan Sith's brows immediately sharpened downward.

Meanwhile, Gabriel touched his chin, staring at Sith while thinking quickly.

"As I thought…" he murmured softly. "Spirit Diving with Morgan while summoning Sith is exhausting… but the result is worth it."

He was still lost in thought—imagining the possibility of summoning other Faerie Knights in the future—when the sound of high heels approached.

Tok. Tok.

Sith now stood before him.

Looking down at him with a disgusted expression, as if she were staring at a stain on her favorite dress.

"Mother," she said sweetly—too sweetly. "Who is this insolent man? How dare he call you 'Fay.' Was he never taught proper manners?"

Her smile widened. A small fang showed—cute, but clearly not a sign of kindness.

"Don't worry," she continued gently, though the air around them tightened. "Sith will properly educate this lowborn creature."

Gabriel merely smiled faintly.

Successfully summoning Baobhan Sith… meant the path was now open.

From here on… the other Faerie Knights could be summoned as well.

That thought rekindled his excitement—despite the fact that one of the most brutal faeries was currently preparing to "educate" him.

The faint smile on Gabriel's face—calm, almost relaxed—made Baobhan Sith's eyelid twitch subtly.

The air around them tightened. Not because magic had been released, but because intent itself began pressing against the space.

Sith tilted her head slightly. Her red hair shifted softly against her shoulder.

"…Hee?"

Her voice rose by half an octave.

Sweet.

Far too sweet.

"You're… smiling?"

Her heel stepped forward again. Now the distance between them was far too close to be called polite.

She leaned down slightly, gazing at Gabriel through her lashes.

Her smile remained in place, but her eyes held no warmth.

"I just said I was going to educate you… and yet you look pleased."

A brief pause.

Her smile widened slightly.

"Don't tell me… you have strange tastes?"

Her voice lowered into a soft whisper laced with poison.

"Ahh… I see. Humans really are peculiar creatures. Warned, yet they smile. Threatened, yet they grow excited."

Her right leg lifted slowly. The tip of her heel stopped just in front of Gabriel's chest—not touching, merely hovering there as a deliberate threat.

Her gray eyes narrowed sharply.

"…Or perhaps," she murmured softly, "you're the type who actually enjoys being treated badly?"

Her smile remained sweet.

"A masochist?"

Morgan let out a quiet sigh from the side—the weary exhale of a queen who had dealt with her daughter's behavior far too many times.

"My daughter."

Two words. Flat. Firm.

Baobhan Sith clicked her tongue softly, clearly annoyed, but she did not step back.

"…And yet Mother defends him."

Still, her gaze returned to Gabriel—sharper than before.

"Fine. If it's not that… then why are you smiling?"

Author's Note:

Just like I said, for now Gabriel is stopping by Rinkai for a while. Moving forward, I might not fully write that part since I haven't read the light novel yet. (•_<) tehe~

Finding the English version has been quite difficult. 😅
