Thief's words left a bitter taste in Lilianna's mouth. She wanted to help the kid who had asked her for help.
But he was also right. She did not know any way to help the kid that would actually turn out to be beneficial for him or help him live in the long run. Nor could she take responsibility for the kid's safety on her own.
Her agitation showed clearly on her face, but she just nodded at the man in front of her, forcing herself to be polite to him. Thankfully, she had more people to take over for her and talk to Thief.
"We understand your circumstances. However, I want you to ask yourself this question-is what you are doing truly something that is useful to these kids, or are you just doing this to satisfy your own needs?"
