Chapter 9 - First encounter with rival

Kael entered the training grounds, feeling the chill of early morning air. A tall figure awaited him, clad in silver armor, eyes cold and calculating.

"I've been waiting for you, Dark Sovereign," the man said. "I'm Victor, top-ranked in the academy, and I won't let you surpass me."

Kael's eyes narrowed. A rival already? Perfect.

The fight began immediately. Kael dodged Victor's lightning-fast strikes, countering with Shadow Strike. Sparks flew, and dust kicked up around them as their clash drew attention from other students.

Lyra cheered him on from the sidelines, chanting supportive magic. Kael felt a thrill—this was more than survival now. Rivalry, recognition, power… it all mattered.

The duel ended with Kael landing a decisive strike, sending Victor sprawling, though alive. "Next time," Victor gritted. "I'll win."

Kael smirked. Bring it on.
