Chapter 21 - When Love Strikes Faster Than Lightning

[Denki's POV]

It had been one week since the USJ incident, and one week before the Sports Festival and a lot had happened in that seven days.

I rescued Eri, who was about to officially become my little sister through legal adoption in just two more days and discovered that Emma Akane was actually Toga Himiko—who apparently had developed a crush on me.

My female classmates found me on the rooftop with a naked Toga on top of me, saying things that created the most catastrophic misunderstanding imaginable, and now rumors about me "seducing females and taking them to the rooftop" had spread throughout Class 1-A.

The one thing I was genuinely thankful for? The rumor didn't spread beyond our class. Only a few people outside 1-A heard about it, and they didn't gossip much.

'Thank god. That kind of reputation would seriously damage the hero image I'm trying to build.'

And don't even get me started on the mess following the Overhaul situation.

It seemed I'd gone a little overboard—just a tiny bit—because police officers, Pro Heroes, and various officials kept showing up with questions, endless questions.

It took some serious connections from Mom and, surprisingly, Principal Nezu to finally end the investigation.

Nezu had called me into his office, served me tea with that unsettling smile of his, and said simply, "Be more careful next time, Kaminari-kun. We understand your reasoning, but discretion is a hero's greatest tool."

Then he closed the case.

I'd used the trauma from the Nomu situation to explain my extreme reaction during the Overhaul encounter—claimed I'd experienced a PTSD-triggered response and overcompensated. It raised some serious concerns about my mental state, but thanks to Mom's intervention, some check-ups and Nezu's support, everything was eventually resolved.

I was genuinely surprised by Nezu's support, but I understood his reasoning. He—and probably every teacher at UA—recognized that having me turn villain would be catastrophic. They wanted to keep me on the hero path, keep me at UA where they could guide and monitor me.

'I already planned to be a hero anyway,' I reflected. 'But it's definitely best to avoid these types of extreme situations in the future.'

I'd only acted so ruthlessly because I couldn't risk All For One obtaining Overhaul's Quirk.

If that bastard got his hands on Overhaul—the ability to completely deconstruct and reconstruct matter at a molecular level—it would be game over. All For One was already terrifyingly powerful. Adding that kind of versatility to his arsenal?

I didn't even want to imagine it. So I removed Kai Chisaki from the equation entirely.

'At least, I believe I did. Time will tell if I was thorough enough.'

Anyway, after the rooftop incident, I'd pulled Momo aside to explain the situation privately. We met in an empty corner of the school, away from curious eyes and ears.

I explained everything—how Emma Akane was actually Toga Himiko, about her unique "tastes" and compulsions, about how she needed understanding rather than condemnation.

Momo listened carefully with a thoughtful expression and when I finished, she simply nodded.

"I understand, Kaminari-kun. I'll try to help Toga-san control her urges if I can. Everyone deserves a chance to be accepted for who they are."

I smiled, "Thank you, Momo. I really appreciate your help."

She blushed slightly, waving off the praise. "It's nothing special. We're just helping a classmate. That's what heroes do, right?"

I looked at her for a few seconds, watching the late evening sunlight catch in her dark hair, the way her cheeks were still faintly pink, the genuine kindness in her eyes.

Then I took a breath and asked, "Are you free this weekend?"

Her eyes widened slightly.

"We could hang out if you're available," I continued while keeping my tone casual despite my racing heart. "You know... just the two of us. Spend some time together outside of school."

Momo's eyes widened further, and slowly—beautifully—she smiled. "That's... that's a good idea, Kaminari-kun."

"So, do you know any good places we could go? Just the two of us?"

She tilted her head thoughtfully. "I don't really know any normal places where we could meet up. Most of the places I'm familiar with are... rather formal."

'Rich girl problems,' I thought with amusement.

"How about Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall?" I suggested. "And there's Wonder Park nearby—it's that hero-themed amusement park. We could start there, then hit the mall, and maybe finish at Oren Café?"

Momo's smile widened, taking on a knowing quality. "Did you plan this before asking me? Because this clearly sounds like you've thought it through carefully."

I tried to sound casual, scratching the back of my head. "Well, I know the area a little because I went there with Megumi-nee before. She used to be my babysitter when I was younger, so..."

'I'm absolutely not telling her I spent three hours searching the entire Musutafu area for good dating spots because this is my first date in both of my lives combined. I need this to be perfect if this relationship is going to last forever.'

She gave me that knowing smile again, clearly not buying my casual excuse. "Sure, let's go with that story." Her expression softened. "I'm also planning to learn more about you, Kaminari-kun. You're... interesting."

I grinned. "Then it's a date. See you this weekend near Wonder Park?"

She blushed beautifully. "It's a date."

I left while smiling, feeling like everything was finally falling into place.

'The situation with Toga is resolved. Eri is saved and will be my little sister in two days. And I have a date this weekend with Momo. Everything in my life is going incredibly smoothly.'

Since Eijiro and Mina had other plans today, I was heading home alone—which meant perfect opportunity for training.

I pulled out specialized cuffs for my hands and legs from my backpack, along with a remote control. After unlocking them, I used the touchpad screen to increase the gravity multiplier.

These beauties were designed by Edna and could handle up to 10G. I could currently manage 04G—meaning four times normal Earth gravity.

'Gravity training never fails. Just ask Goku, Vegeta, Rock Lee, and Might Guy.'

I set the multiplier to 05G and immediately felt the increased weight pressing down on my entire body.

Then I started running toward home—without using my Quirk—choosing the longest possible route.

'The grind never stops.'

...

[Third Person POV]

Classes had ended for the day, and Hagakure Toru, whose Invisibility Quirk made her perpetually unseen, was returning from the bathroom when she noticed something interesting.

Kaminari-kun and Yaoyorozu-san were talking in a quiet corner and their body language suggesting an intimate conversation.

'I wonder what they're discussing,' Toru thought, trying to resist the urge to eavesdrop. 'It would be disrespectful to listen in on a private conversation.'

But in the end, her curiosity won. She quickly removed her clothes—rendering herself truly invisible—and crept closer.

"I don't know any normal place where we could meet up," she heard Yaoyorozu-san say.

Toru listened to the entire conversation, her invisible eyes widening with each word.

'They're planning a DATE! The class president and vice president are going on an actual date! And this is right after he was caught with a naked girl on the rooftop!'

The moment Kaminari-kun left, Toru immediately pulled out her phone.

When Kaminari-kun had become class president, he'd suggested creating a group chat for all of Class 1-A to communicate easily. So she had everyone's numbers, they even made a seperate group leaving both Kaminari-kun and Yaoyorozu since they are class representatives and quickly typed out a message to the group.

Hagakure: GUYS!!! I just overheard Kaminari-kun and Yaoyorozu planning a SECRET DATE this weekend! Who wants to follow them? 👀

The responses came almost immediately.

Ashido: W-WHAT?! NO WAY DENKI IS DATING MOMO! THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING! 😱😱😱

Mineta: 😭🩸 No... why is this happening to me... KAMINARI YOU BASTARD!!!

Aoyama: No, madam. I, unfortunately, am very busy this weekend. ✨

Asui: Sure 🐸

Iida: It is common courtesy not to interfere in another student's private life! We should stop this discussion at once!

Bakugo: Shut the hell up, extras. I don't care what Sparky does. And why are you all acting like stalkers? Don't you have anything better to do?

Midoriya: Kacchan is right. It's wrong to follow them without permission...

Emma: I'll be there. 😊

The argument continued for several minutes, with Iida trying to convince everyone to respect their classmates' privacy while others debated the ethics of "observing" versus "stalking."

In the end, nine students decided to go, Midoriya, Uraraka, Mineta, Jiro, Asui, Kirishima, Sero, Ashido, and Hagakure herself.

...

[The Day of the Date]

The group arrived at Wonder Park fifteen minutes before the agreed meeting time, positioning themselves strategically to avoid detection.

Yaoyorozu arrived exactly fifteen minutes early, looking elegant in a casual dress that somehow still screamed "expensive."

But Kaminari-kun was already there, waiting by the fountain.

"Dude," Kirishima whispered and is clearly impressed. "He got there even earlier than her! That's so manly!"

"He's always had that playful, almost flirty personality," Ashido murmured, watching carefully. "But he's never actually dated anyone. Eijiro and I can confirm—he's never had a girlfriend before."

"Wait, seriously?" Sero looked surprised. "With his looks and confidence?"

"He always said he was too busy training," Ashido explained. "But I think he was just waiting for the right person."

"That's... actually really sweet," Uraraka said softly, a slight blush on her cheeks.

"We need to maintain proper distance," Ashido warned. "Denki told us he can sense anyone within 500 meters using their bioelectrical signatures. So we have to stay farther than that."

"500 METERS?!" several voices hissed in unison.

"How are we supposed to see anything from that far?!" Mineta complained.

"I've got it covered," Jiro said, kneeling down. She plugged one of her Earphone Jacks into the ground, using vibrations to pick up sound from a distance, then connected her other jack to a small speaker. "We'll be able to hear their conversation at least."

Midoriya pulled out binoculars—because of course he came prepared—and his face immediately flushed red as he watched Kaminari-kun and Yaoyorozu greeting each other.

'I've never even known someone close to me who dates,' Izuku thought, feeling strangely emotional. 'This is... this is what normal teenage romance looks like.'

...

[Denki's POV]

I arrived at the fountain thirty minutes early because I wanted to prepare mentally for what was literally the first real date of both my lives combined.

I'd watched romantic movie scenes, studied pickup lines, even practiced conversation topics in front of a mirror like a complete dork.

'This has to be perfect.'

Momo arrived fifteen minutes before our agreed time, and my breath caught slightly.

She looked beautiful—wearing a stylish but modest dress, her hair down instead of in its usual ponytail and had a nervous but excited smile on her face.

"You look amazing, Momo," I said honestly.

She blushed, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "Thank you, Kaminari-kun. You look quite handsome yourself."

After she dismissed her bodyguards—who looked extremely reluctant to leave—we entered Wonder Park together.

The hero-themed amusement park was massive, with rides and attractions based on famous Pro Heroes.

We started with the All Might roller coaster—a massive ride that simulated flying through the air like the Number One Hero himself.

Momo screamed during the drops, grabbing my hand so tightly I thought she might break bones. When we got off, her hair was completely disheveled and she was laughing breathlessly.

"That was terrifying!" she gasped but still holding my hand.

"But fun, right?" I grinned.

"...Yes," she admitted while smiling. "Very fun."

We tried several other attractions—the Endeavor Fire Tower (a drop ride that simulated falling through flames), the Best Jeanist Fashion Maze (which was ridiculous but entertaining), and various game stalls.

At one point, I won her a stuffed hero plushie—a tiny All Might doll—by completely dominating the ring toss game and a Pikachu plushie because she asked for that specifically.

"You're really good at these," Momo observed while hugging the Pikachu plushie.

"Enhanced hand-eye coordination from my Quirk training," I explained. "Electricity manipulation requires precise control, so my fine motor skills are pretty developed."

"That's actually really smart," she said, "I never thought about how Quirk training could improve other skills."

As we walked through the park, I found myself genuinely enjoying her company. She was intelligent, yes, but also surprisingly funny when she relaxed. And adorable when she got excited about things.

'And let's be honest,' I thought, 'the fact that she's gorgeous and has an amazing figure doesn't hurt either.'

But it was more than that. There was something about Momo—her genuine kindness, her dedication to helping others, the way she actually listened when people talked—that made me want to know her better.

After Wonder Park, we headed to Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall.

We wandered through various stores, and I learned that Momo had incredibly refined taste in clothes and fashion—which made sense given her background—but she was also genuinely interested in normal, everyday things.

She even picked out a few clothes—for herself and for me. Watching her thoughtfully scan through different outfits, occasionally holding one up against me with a small, focused frown, was strangely nice.

When she tried on some clothes… good help me. She looked stunning in every single one. As I'd noticed before, she really did have an excellent sense of fashion.

In the end, we bought most of her clothes and let them deliver our clothes home through a mobile delivery service.

Of course, I paid. Letting her pay on our first date would've been a stupid move. And thanks to doing fairly well with my novel writing, I was able to cover everything without any trouble.

"I've never actually been to a regular mall like this," she admitted at one point. "Usually, I shop at specialized boutiques or have things custom-made."

"Seriously? Never?"

"Never," she confirmed, looking around with genuine curiosity. "This is... nice. It feels more authentic somehow."

We grabbed ice cream from a vendor, and I discovered that Momo had a serious sweet tooth that she normally suppressed.

"Don't tell anyone," she said seriously, eating her triple-scoop strawberry cone. "I have a reputation to maintain."

"Your secret's safe with me," I promised while grinning.

Finally, we ended up at Oren Café—a quiet, cozy place with comfortable seating and soft lighting.

....

[Third Person POV]

With the Stalking Squad...

The group of classmates had been following at a distance all day, watching the date unfold.

Mineta was literally biting his lip until it bled, muttering darkly. "I'll kill him. I'll actually kill Kaminari. How dare he date her... touch her... they even held hands! HELD HANDS!"

"Mineta-kun, calm down," Asui said flatly. "You're being creepy. Ribbit."

"I HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BE UPSET!"

"No, you really don't," Jiro said while rolling her eyes.

He then knelt on the ground with hands and feet pressed against the floor, while a heavy, depressive air surrounded him.

The others were more supportive.

"They actually look really good together," Uraraka said softly, watching through Midoriya's binoculars.

"Denki seems genuinely happy," Kirishima observed. "I've never seen him smile like that before."

"Yaoyorozu looks happy too," Ashido added, "I'm actually really glad for them."

Sero nodded. "Yeah, they're both good people. If anyone deserves a nice relationship, it's them."

Even Midoriya, despite his initial hesitation about following them, found himself smiling. "They do seem perfect for each other."

...

[Denki's POV]

At Oren Café...

We sat in a quiet corner booth, nursing our drinks—apple juice for me and orange juice for Momo.

The conversation had been flowing naturally all day, but now it shifted to something deeper.

"So," Momo said, studying me over her juice glass, "can you tell me your real reason for choosing to become a hero? Is it because of your mother, or because you want to save people?"

I paused, considering how much to reveal. "I want to destroy this hero-and-villain game society we've built."

Her eyes widened slightly. "What do you mean?"

I leaned forward as my expression slowly becoming serious. "Think about it, Momo. This entire system—heroes and villains fighting in this endless cycle—it's fundamentally broken. Instead of using the gift of Quirks to make society better, humans divided themselves into groups and started going after each other for selfish reasons."

She listened intently.

"Villains aren't born," I continued. "They're made by society. Take Toga, for example. If Megumi-nee and I hadn't found her, if no one had bothered to understand her, she would've definitely become a villain. Not because she's evil, but because society rejected her for being different. If someone guided her from early age, it would have been the best life for her."

I told her about Eri—about the abuse, the torture, how a five-year-old child had been turned into a tool by someone who should have protected her.

"I've been watching crime reports, hero rescues, and analyzing these situations since I was a kid," I explained. "And I realized something, the entire hero-villain dynamic is perpetuated by the people themselves. And it can be avoided."

Momo's expression was thoughtful and engaged.

"Imagine a scenario," I said. "A kid is being abused by his father. Today, if people see that kid in trouble, most of them will ignore it, thinking 'some hero will come save them.' But why can't they help the kid themselves?"

I gestured emphatically. "If they did—if ordinary people stepped up to help—that kid would feel hope. He'd believe there are people he can turn to when things are hard. But if everyone ignores him? If society turns its back? Waiting for a hero who is busy destroying streets and displaying his strength while ignoring him. Then he'll turn his back on society. He'll become exactly what everyone feared."

Momo nodded slowly with understanding dawning in her eyes.

"Some cases involve genuine psychopaths and irredeemably evil people," I acknowledged. "But most cases could be avoided if people just tried to understand each other. It's difficult, I know. But that's exactly why I plan to become a hero—to try to change this system. To save kids before they become villains."

I smiled at her, feeling that familiar determination burn in my chest.

"That's why I decided to become the fastest hero—so I can reach people before it's too late. So I can stop them from turning into villains in the first place. Because one day, I want to live in a world where heroes aren't needed to save abused kids. Where ordinary people do it because it's the right thing to do."

I locked eyes with her, letting her see the absolute conviction in my gaze.

"And to achieve that goal, I have to become strong. Stronger than anyone while also making people strong and let them understand this. Which is why I've decided that I'm going to become the Number One Hero and surpass All Might himself. Because in this world only the strongest can raise thier voice against the system."

...

[Momo's POV]

As Kaminari-kun finishes explaining his goals and aspirations, he says those final words with a look of absolute confidence on his face.

"I will become the Number One Hero and surpass All Might."

The moment he says it, I feel a strange chill run over my body.

It's not fear but something else entirely.

I have this overwhelming, inexplicable belief that he'll actually do it. That he'll achieve this seemingly impossible goal.

He'll become someone who inspires confidence in others just by existing.

Suddenly my eyes widen as realization hits me.

This feeling—this absolute certainty that everything will be okay because he's here—it's familiar. It's the exact same feeling people get when they see All Might.

'Kaminari-kun has that same presence. That same aura of reassurance.'

He chuckles, breaking the serious mood. "Sorry for talking so much about myself. What about you, Momo? Tell me about your family, your goals."

I smile and begin telling him about the Yaoyorozu family—our history, our expectations, the pressure I sometimes feel to live up to our name.

He listens attentively, asking thoughtful questions.

Then he pulls out several folded papers from his jacket. "I actually had some ideas about your Quirk application. Want to see?"

I take the papers, unfolding them to reveal detailed blueprints and technical designs.

"Mechas?!" I look up at him, amused. "Honestly, what is it with boys and giant robots?"

He grins sheepishly. "Hey, mechas are cool! But seriously, look at this design—it's based on modular construction principles. You could create individual components and assemble them rapidly in combat situations."

He explains enthusiastically about arc reactor technology, energy distribution systems, and various other applications for my Creation Quirk that I'd never even considered.

Then he hands me another design—a hero costume.

"Your current hero outfit reveals way too much," he says and his expression turned serious. "This design is inspired by Lara Croft—a brave female lead from video games. It's practical and allows full range of movement, but also provides actual protection and coverage."

I look at the detailed sketch, then back at him, and can't help but smile.

'He doesn't want everyone staring at my body. That's... actually cute.'

"Thank you, Kaminari-kun. I'll definitely consider this design."

After we finish at the café, we walk together toward the area where my car is parked with my bodyguards waiting.

He jokes about them looking like men-in-black agents, and I laugh, feeling lighter than I have in months.

"I really enjoyed today," I tell him honestly. "I'm looking forward to the next time."

He grins. "I'll plan something even better. I promise it'll be more memorable."

Something bold surges through me—probably the confidence from the wonderful day we've had.

I reach out, grab his collar, pull him down slightly, and kiss his cheek.

His eyes widen in complete surprise.

"I look forward to it," I say softly, then immediately turn and run toward my car, waving goodbye over my shoulder.

'That was so embarrassing! But also... Wonderful.'

...

[Denki's POV]

I stand there, frozen with my hand unconsciously touching the spot where she kissed my cheek.

'Momo can be bold too, huh. I'm starting to like her even more.'

That was my first kiss—apart from family—and it felt amazing.

'I should definitely plan more future dates. Better ones and more perfect ones.'

I turn and start walking home with a huge grin on my face that I can't suppress.

...

[Third Person POV]

The group of classmates who had been observing from a distance all day stood in stunned silence.

"Did that just happen?!" Ashido squealed quietly. "Did Momo just kiss him?!"

"On the cheek, yeah," Jiro confirmed, "That was actually really cute."

"I'M GOING TO KILL HIM!" Mineta shrieked while being physically restrained by Sero and Kirishima.

Midoriya, however, had gone completely still with a look of intense determination settling over his features.

Uraraka noticed immediately. "Deku-kun? Where are you going?"

He didn't answer at first, simply turning and walking away with purpose.

"To train," he said finally and his voice is filled with resolve.

'I must train harder... or I'll never be able to stand beside Kaminari-kun as an equal. All Might said that during the Sports Festival, I need to show that I'm the next Symbol of Peace. I need to announce to the world that I AM HERE.'

The Sports Festival was one week away and the storm was about to begin.

...

Author's Note:

Yes, I've decided to keep Momo as the female lead. And for those worried about Toga—don't be. She simply has a crush on the first person who truly understands her.

Next chapter will be the start of Sports festival arc and one of my favourite arcs in the series.

But, I'll be going on a family tour this weekend, so the next update will be next week.

See you later, guys!
