Chapter 6 - Dinner drama

My eyes fluttered open when I heard the soft knock at the door. A glance at the window showed that instead of a nap I had slept the rest of the afternoon away. "Come in." I groaned as I sat up and looked at the time on my phone. It was five thirty and I'm sure whoever was at the door was informing me about dinner. I figured it would have been a maid but was surprised when I saw Peter enter the room.

"I'm surprised they let you up here." I smiled at my friend as I stretched and got up from the bed.

"They wouldn't normally but because Beta Alex put me on security detail I am permitted access to accompany you."

I ran my fingers through my hair and tied it back as I frowned at Peter. "So you were assigned to be my babysitter."

"I was assigned to keep you safe Riley! There are many people that would take advantage of you while you are here."

I was well aware of that fact. It didn't make me feel any better though. "I guess you are here to escort me to dinner?"

Peter nodded. "And to warn you. Along with the family Doctor Sung and Marcus are here."

I froze mid step. I wasn't expecting the Doctor to come in person but if he couldn't get a hold of me on the phone it wasn't unusual for him to make a house call but Marcus was another story. "What is the Alpha of the Silver Moon pack doing here?"

Peter shrugged. "My guess is that he was invited for the bonding ceremony."

"That better be all he was invited here for." I mumbled as I walked out the door, Peter right behind me.

The walk down to the dining room was a quiet one and the moment I entered the room I wanted to turn around and barricade myself in my room for the rest of my visit. Sitting right there beside my father was Alpha Marcus in all of his k-pop idol glory. He was an imposing six foot four with the build of a linebacker. His jet black hair was in one of those purposely tousled styles that probably cost more than my entire wardrobe, and his dark brown eyes were cold and bored as he sat there discussing pack politics. I had only ever seen Marcus once before but he was not the kind of person one forgets easily.

"Good evening Father, Alpha Marcus, Doctor Sung." I greeted them before taking an empty seat at the table. Which happened to conveniently be right beside Marcus. His scent washed over me the moment I got to the chair. It was a strong alpha scent of leather and spice that any omega would go weak in the knees for, and even though I had no interest in him my traitorous heart decided that would be a good moment to try to break free from my chest.

I quickly glanced over at Marcus and saw that he was looking down at me, a faint smile curved his lips and his eyes softened just a little before the Alpha mask was back in place and he continued his conversation with my father.

I had thought that maybe I would get away without any drama, as I had remained silent and mostly invisible for the entire meal. However luck was not on my side as my father decided that he would use that exact time to tell me why I was invited back home for the bonding ceremony.

"Were you able to pick out suitable clothing for the ceremony Riley?" My father inquired as he took a sip of his wine and placed the glass back on the table.

"Yes, of course father." I stammered quietly.

"Good. Alpha Marcus will be escorting you to the ceremony and the gathering afterwards. It will be then that I will announce your official engagement to Marcus. After the party you will go back to the Silver Moon pack with him."

"Like hell I will!" I shouted as I stood and stepped back from the table. "I have already made a life for myself and I plan on finishing college before I make any decisions on who I want to settle down with, and it won't be some hot headed Alpha from any of the surrounding packs."

My father's gaze turned cold and his eyes started to glow amber as he looked at me. "That was not a request." He growled as he use his alpha pheromones to make me submit. I saw the betas in the room tremble and lower their heads as they had no protection from the will of the Alpha. "You are my son and it is about time you did something to help the pack as its only Prince."

My legs were shaking as I clenched my hands into fists but I could only fight the Alpha aura for so long and bowed my head in submission.

"Good." He nodded. "Doctor Sung also wants to talk to you tonight. You are to accompany him to the pack house infirmary after dinner."

I groaned as I sat back down but didn't say anything. The rest of the evening was tense as I sat there and stared at my plate, appetite completely gone for the second time that day. My father didn't comment as he rose to accompany Alpha Marcus to the sitting room, a clear dismissal for the rest of the family.

The walk to the infirmary was just as quiet and I only allowed myself to take a deep breath once the door was closed behind us. Doctor Sung put on a lab coat took a seat in the chair and motioned for me to sit on the exam table.

"I thought you were going to call me with the results of my blood work Doc." I said coldly as I watched him sanitize his hands before slipping on a pair of medical gloves. That couldn't have been a good sign.

He sighed as he looked at me. "Plans change. Alpha Michael called to make sure you came to your appointment today and requested I do a thorough exam." I paled instantly. I knew what the Doctor meant. He was ordered to make sure I was still a virgin and capable of delivering an heir. "Please no." I sobbed as I started to shake again.

"I am sorry Riley. You know that neither of us have a choice. He will want proof of the procedure." Doctor Sung said calmly as sadness washed over his features. "I will need you to strip fro the waist down and lie on the exam table with your legs spread. I will be as gentle as possible."

I cried during the entire procedure. It was uncomfortable and felt like I was violated even if it was a medical procedure I still had no choice in what the Doctor had done to me. As soon as he was finished he pulled the gloves off and placed them in a bio-hazard bin on the wall. I moved to put my clothes back on as my insides were throbbing and was hit with a wave of dizziness that almost made me pass out.

"Take it easy Riley. You need to move slowly and take deep even breaths or you will have a panic attack." I pulled away from the Doctor's hand as he tried to steady me. I didn't want anyone to touch me right now. He didn't push but he hovered, ready to catch me if I fell while I pulled my boxers and pants back on. "Are we done here?" I sniffled as I wiped my face with my shirt.

"Not quite." Doctor Sung sat back down in the chair and made some notes on a tablet. "Your pheromone levels are low, most likely from the continued use of the suppressants. I didn't see any issues with your uterus during the exam but there is a good chance that you did damage to your reproductive system which will make it hard for you to conceive. I suggest that you stop all suppressant use from this point further." The news wasn't as earth shattering as I thought it was going to be. I knew the risks but kept taking the suppressants anyway.

"I'm going to keep taking them." I replied quietly. The doctor just nodded like he knew that would be my answer.

"I do not have to tell your father anything about the results of your test. He just wanted to make sure you were still a virgin for your bonding with Alpha Marcus."

I flinched at the reminder but was thankful that my father wouldn't have access to my test results.

Peter was waiting for me in the main hall as I walked back from the infirmary and trudged up the stairs to my room, closing the door before he could enter. A clear dismissal.
