The little girl ran with all her might, running past trees and thick bushes till she got tired and stopped , huffing for air. She looked around in fear and noticed a small stream nearby . Tired , thirsty and exhausted, she walked to the stream and gulped mouthfuls of water before sighing in relief. She knew this place. This was where the villagers got water for their daily use. Now she just had to hurry home as she knew that her aunt was already looking for her. She thanked her stars for successfully evading that strange eerie woman and vowed never to go near that forest again.
Soon she found her way to her neighborhood but was shocked with the sight she saw. Smoke everywhere. People running out of their homes in fright and terror. Houses were burnt with people in it. Her village folks bodies were ripped open and their hearts harvested by men in high collared robes.
That was when she saw them for the first time . The infamous shadowed creatures, they had super fast abilities and looked bloodthirsty as she saw one of them drinking blood from Mrs Howard ,her aunt's closest friend.
Eve watched in horror as life drained from Mrs Howard's face. She didn't have time to recover from the shock as the vampire suddenly turned his face to look at her . Terrified ,she stood still unable to move . Luckily the vampire was distracted by a brave human who tried to kill the vampire using a pitch fork but was unsuccessful as the vampire snapped his neck before throwing the lifeless body on the ground.
Eve didn't have the time to process what she saw as she began to run towards her aunt place. She needed to find her aunt! She was so young and she didn't understand what was going on and why the vampires were killing the villagers but she knew that there was danger and she and her family needed to leave the village!
She was relieved when she got to her house and saw that there was no smoke or blood and no vampires! But the place was oddly quiet . She wanted to call for her aunt or uncle but stopped when she heard strange voices.
"Aubrey do yourself a favour and give us what we want or you will be just like your husband." Who was that and what did they want from her aunt? Her small feet tiptoed towards a small opening from the backyard so she could see what was happening, She looked into the room and gasped in horror! Her aunt was kneeling in front of two strange people wearing robes. No there weren't vampires, they looked like the woman she saw in the forest with their bat like wings. And her uncle! Her uncle was lying lifeless, his eye wide open and blood seeping from his neck.
" I swear on my life , I do not know where she is , She was playing at the backyard before she suddenly disappeared.Please spare my life and spare hers also. I promise to leave this place and go hidden forever " Eve's aunt begged frantically hoping the man would have mercy on her.
But the man chuckled darkly and turned to his companion " Claudia, are you sure you checked everywhere for the girl?"
The woman named Claudia looked at her aunt then turned to the man " You know I am very good at finding things milord, I checked every possible place the girl but I can't find her, though I sensed her presence earlier but I'm having difficulty finding her location now."
With the way those bat like creatures were talking to her aunt, Eve was sure that she was the girl they were looking for. But why? She was just a little orphan that lived with her aunt and uncle who never hurt anyone and she wasn't a threat to anyone's life. At least that was what she thought .
A woman opened the front door and smirked when she saw the lifeless body but had a look of disappointment when she didn't spot the little girl who they came to visit. Eve recognized the woman immediately, it was the same woman that she encountered in the forest.
"Azazel, I thought the girl was already with you, I can't find her here ." came the smooth voice of the eerie lady.
" I thought you went waiting for her in the forest incase her family tried to escape with her, I don't see her with you either." The man named Azazel retorted .
" The little witch attacked me surprisingly with an object, for some reason my wound took time to heal that's why I didn't chase after her"
" That shows how powerful she is and it is best we use her now before her powers reach full potential and she becomes unstoppable. I was hoping Claudia found her or you came back with her, but it seems you both are useless and incompetent fools, as always. "The man named Azazel scoffed, obvious disappointment etched on his old face.
But Lilith didn't seem to take it lightly as she retorted " If it was so easy why did you catch her yourself? You claim to be the greatest witch alive yet you send me and the others to do the dirty work and then you take all the credit. Look at you all ruffled up because of a little girl . You scheming old bastard"
The man raised his hand as if to strike Lilith but she deflected whatever he sent with her hand causing the wall nearby to crash. Before things could get heated, Claudia stepped in between them both.
"If we continue like this the girl will be far gone and the purpose for us coming here will go to waste, let us finish this quickly and look for her before those foolish vampires find out that we tricked them"
The man dropped his hand and turned to Claudia " You both should find the girl, I have unfinished business with this woman here "
The two women left through the front door, unaware that the girl they were looking for was at the back watching them with shaky legs.
The man turned to aunt Aubrey and smiled mockingly " Look at you, you had such bright potential and you could have turned into one of the finest witches, but you chose to abandon me and follow your weak and foolish husband . Now look at you, on your knees in front of me. I could have made use of your body," He spat disgustingly " But I have a greater prize ahead of me . So it's a good bye my sweet Aubrey".
The man raised his hand and plunged it right into her aunt's chest. Eve screamed in horror causing her aunt and the man to look in her direction. The man smiled ready to go after her when her aunt pulled out an ancient dagger coated with poison and slashed it across the man face immobilizing him for minutes.
"Eve Run!!! Run for your life and don't look back!!!" Her aunt screamed with the last strength in her. A little bit relieved that her niece was fine though she hoped that the witches or vampires did not find her. With a smile on her face, she fell on the cold floor.
