Chapter 61 - Chapter 61: The West Coast

"Is that so?"

Sharan glanced at Li Ke, unconcerned about the money, and placed a brooch in front of him.

"This is for you to use. It will allow you and the person you're talking to to understand your words. However, it will only last for a month, but a month should be enough for you to learn the language here."

After speaking, Sharan turned and left. Although the brooch was quite valuable—a consumable magical item she crafted—she was content as long as it was helpful; she didn't care much about the money.

Li Ke quickly thanked her.

"Thank you! Miss Sharan, I'll pay you for this later."

Sharan turned and smiled.

"No need to pay me back. Just buy me a drink later."

With that, she completely left the room. Li Ke wanted to say something more, but the doctor spoke up.

"Alright, sir, now that you can understand us, there's no need to worry too much about your companion. She just fainted from the shock and will wake up soon."

The doctor explained to Li Ke, who quickly thanked him and then sat down beside Kiri, waiting for her to wake up.

The doctor's assessment was correct. Not long after he left, Kiri opened her eyes and stared intently at Li Ke.

"So, why are you here? Am I back in Hell?"

Kiri looked at Li Ke speechlessly. She remembered clearly that she first fell into the Middle Ocean, and then, unable to swim, plummeted towards the abyss.

Just when she thought she was going to die, she reached a strange critical point.

Then, she was separated from the ocean and arrived in a strange place.

In this place, the ocean became quite strange, and then, after a short while, she felt a void beneath her and began to fall again.

If it weren't for the falling log hitting her on the head, she would be perfectly fine.

"The good news is, you didn't go back to that damn world. The bad news is, I came to rescue you, and now we're penniless. We owe a fisherman and his son for their life-saving money, we owe the doctor for treatment, and we owe a magician for his tools."

Li Ke's words made Kiri shudder involuntarily, prompting her to blurt out a curse.

"That sounds worse than hell."

Being broke was indeed a serious matter.

But Kiri was more concerned about something else.

"But I say, you've already rescued me, shouldn't you go back? Or have you already sent Lux back?"

Kiri looked at Li Ke curiously. Although she thought Li Ke was a bastard, the fact that he came straight to rescue her showed that he was definitely a good person and wouldn't easily break his promise.

But why hadn't this guy said goodbye even though she was alright?

She looked Li Ke up and down, then lay back on the bed, sprawling out in a starfish position, and said speechlessly,

"You aren't thinking still want to sleep with me, do you? Fine, come on, you beast, I'll just pretend I got bitten by a mosquito. After all, yours isn't even as big as my double-barreled shotgun..."

Li Ke's eye twitched. Kiri was always like this, able to turn a serious situation into this kind of farce.

"Do you believe I can make you cry from fucking?"

He sighed.

"The truth is, I need a lot of energy to go back, close to ten thousand. If I rely solely on you, I couldn't even get you pregnant. So I have to make a fortune here and hire a bunch of girls to sleep with me to accumulate enough energy. But those women who take money won't have much of a mental connection with me, so the effect will probably be very poor."

Li Ke sighed again and looked at Kiri.

"So you have to help me make money. That's the cost of saving you, Kiri."

"Huh? You want me to make money to pay for your prostitutes?! How can you be so shameless as to say something like that?!"

"Then are you willing to treat me like a husband and let me fuck you eighty times?"

Li Ke spoke calmly.

"Impossible! Who would let a bastard like you in here! Who cares what you're like! Anyway, don't come to me for this kind of thing!"

Kiri turned her head away, indicating that she didn't care about Li Ke.

"No, I think it's better if I fuck this bastard until he foams at the mouth, um, like Lux foams at the mouth."

After saying that, Li Ke reached for Kiri's breasts. The soft breasts greatly relieved his tension, while Kiri seemed to have been struck by lightning, her face flushed as she grabbed Li Ke's collar.

"You bastard! What are you doing!"

Just as she was about to explode, the pretty doctor coughed at the door, and then the two saw the embarrassed female doctor.

"Gentlemen, this is a church hospital, so if you're ready—"

So Li Ke and Kiri were kicked out.

Walking down the bustling street, Li Ke and Kiri looked at the endless stream of horse-drawn carts carrying goods and the densely packed shops, and couldn't help but sigh.

"So, why is it that only I have a language problem, while Kiri, you have no communication issues with the people here? Your Celestial Realm uses the same language as this place! It's unbelievable."

Once again rendered illiterate, Li Ke looked at the notice boards around him. Although he felt there should be jobs available for him and Kiri, there was no doubt that he couldn't read the words, and the tasks Kiri had found...

Well, she had strong luck protecting her, but Li Ke no longer had the power of the 7 Days to Die world.

"What's so unbelievable about that? There's a legend that the world below was developed by celestial beings to escape war. But I never thought it was true."

Kiri looked around excitedly, then tugged at Li Ke's clothes, pointing and exclaiming.

"Li Ke, look! It's the Mage's Guild! There's magic here!"

"I can only talk to you because of magic."

Li Ke wanted to complain that he had a magic brooch on him, otherwise he wouldn't be able to communicate with her, but Kiri's excitement left him speechless.

"And do you even have money? Why are you so excited? Learning magic requires you leaving your job. How much money do you think you have right now to afford to learn magic? You should find a place to sell your gold first."

Li Ke's comment was a direct rebuke, pouring cold water on Kiri's enthusiasm.

"Oh yeah...we haven't even figured out lunch yet. Thinking about magic is a bit premature. We need to earn money to buy food...really, why am I still worrying about food here? But, Li Ke..."

Kiri's lips twitched. She'd been penniless since childhood, and even in the Celestial Realm, she didn't have much money. But halfway through her sigh, she suddenly remembered something, and then a piece of gold appeared in her hand.

Clearly, Kiri's Seven Days to Die system hadn't completely disappeared.

"Can gold from that world really be used in this world?"

Kiri was very doubtful, because this gold was what they'd found while mining iron ore and various other minerals. To be honest, she found it hard to believe that this stuff was real gold.

"Why don't we give it a try? If all else fails, we can always sell the steel. You know we don't have much of anything except steel and 'scrap iron'… So the most urgent thing is to find a place to sell all this stuff."

"That makes sense."

Kiri nodded. Thinking of the thousands of steel ingots and steel frames in her inventory, Kiri envisioned a bright future as a wealthy woman.

However, just as Li Ke was speechlessly continuing his search for places like pawnshops and banks, a small accident occurred on the street ahead:

A woman in a yellow, tight-fitting fighting suit was slammed to the ground by another woman in a similar suit. Not only was a brick smashed into the woman's head, but the other woman pulled out two poison needles glowing with purple light and plunged them directly into the fallen woman's back.

"This is the price of not paying back debts!"

The fallen woman screamed in agony, then instantly lost consciousness and collapsed heavily to the ground.

The woman stood up without the slightest fluster. Not only did the guards on the side not react, but everyone around seemed unfazed.

Li Ke couldn't help but mutter a complaint.

"The local customs are really something else..."
