Chapter 73 - Chapter 73: Encounter and Discovery

After the incident, Li Ke's first reaction was to quickly roll towards Lottie, simultaneously taking out his machine gun from his inventory.

The next moment, he crouched on the ground, instantly turning his head to look behind him, but Lottie's red figure was even faster:

She brandished her staff, and the previously formed sphere instantly transformed into a blazing flame at the tip of her staff, forcing back the person who had ambushed him. Her petite figure then suddenly accelerated with an uncanny speed, slamming her palm into the stomach of her attacker.

The attacker was a tall, burly man, but he was instantly sent flying backward by Lottie's blow, spitting out a mouthful of blood in mid-air before collapsing to the ground.

However, Lottie and Li Ke's opponents were not limited to just this one person.

The instant Lottie attacked, a sharp longsword slashed towards her neck. Lottie swiftly leaned backward, her right hand's staff simultaneously spinning to her left, using the immense momentum to smash into the second attacker, sending a white sphere flying.

Lightning crackled on the attacker's body, sending him flying backward as well.

This strike was far more powerful than the previous palm strike. The person struck by Lottie crashed into the wall, creating two cracks, and the longsword flew from their hand.

Lottie didn't immediately pursue. Instead, she assumed a fighting stance, wary of her surroundings.

Because she sensed other dangers.

Watching the two somewhat disheveled figures scramble to their feet, she narrowed her eyes and demanded a question.

"Who are you people! Why did you attack Brother Li Ke?!"

The burly man, sent flying by Lottie's palm strike, wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. He had accidentally bitten his tongue when he was knocked away, so he could feel the pain as he spoke.

"Hmph... what else could I do? Borrow some money, of course. But you guys reacted pretty quickly."

He swung his arm. He hadn't expected Lottie, who was so small, to have such strong reflexes, speed, and power; he'd been caught off guard.

But he felt that as long as he was careful, he'd be fine.

Li Ke also saw what had attacked him: a huge iron sword, at least fifteen centimeters wide and nearly a meter and a half long, yet the burly man swung it as if it were a dagger.

"Was that the sword that almost chopped my head off?"

Li Ke looked at the giant sword with lingering fear, secretly thankful that Lottie was with him; otherwise, he would probably be dead.

However, if Lottie hadn't brought him to this alley, he would never have come here. He knew his place; as an outsider, his death was just that—death. Kiri might investigate and avenge him in the future.Otherwise no one would care.

His eyes instantly turned cold.

"Hey, Lottie, if I kill them here, won't there be any legal problems?"

Li Ke's hand was already on the trigger, but just to be safe, he asked.

"No, adventurers often fight to the death here. As long as it's not indiscriminate slaughter of civilians or killing in front of guards, the duchy won't interfere no matter how outrageous the fights are."

Lottie watched the burly man warily, her grip on her staff tightening.

This was what she hated. The lower classes of this world weren't much different from the lower classes of the demon realm; both were teeming with madmen who didn't value their lives. This was why she had abandoned her specialization in elemental magic and started learning magic runes and battle mage strategies.

There was no time for her to study magic here!

"That's right! Kid! As long as no one knows, it's fine!"

The burly man brandished his greatsword and charged at Li Ke again. Lottie, at the same time, swung her staff to meet him.

"Don't even think about it!"

The two weapons clashed. Although the burly man staggered back two steps, the smile in his eyes immediately made Lottie realize something.

Damn it!

She immediately turned her head and saw the swordsman wielding a longsword, whom she had previously knocked away, suddenly rush towards Li Ke, his longsword aimed straight for Li Ke's heart from behind.

She wanted to rush back, but the next moment the burly man's greatsword pressed down. If she dared to pull away, the greatsword would smash into her neck.

There was no way around it; she was too short!

Meanwhile, alarm bells rang in Li Ke's mind in an instant. A strong killing intent surged from behind him. Almost instinctively, he turned around, and just before turning, he pulled the trigger in the direction he sensed the killing intent.

The next moment, a barrage of gunfire echoed through the alley, interspersed with a crisp clang:

The instant Li Ke fired, the swordsman's blade struck the machine gun in Li Ke's hand, instantly depleting its durability and rendering it useless. However, the bullets fired earlier struck the attacking swordsman.

The swordsman stared in disbelief at the two gaping holes in his chest, still trying to attack Li Ke, but in the next instant, Li Ke's machine gun transformed into a shotgun.

"Die!"

With Li Ke's roar, the attacking swordsman was sent flying through the air amidst a hail of bullets and bits of flesh, collapsing to the ground lifeless.

"What!"

The swordsman, who had never seen such a weapon before, widened his eyes in shock, but the next moment, he felt an intense heat emanating from his greatsword.

"Where are you looking!"

Lottie's sharp shout rang out instantly, her staff bursting with flames, forcing the burly man to instinctively retreat.

The retreating man glanced at his fallen companion and Lottie's clenched teeth glaring at him, made a snap decision, and charged into a side alley.

"Don't even think about escaping!"

The petite Lottie gave chase without a word. While she didn't intend to kill the burly man, capturing him and handing him over to the guards was still necessary.

Li Ke, however, didn't. He had something more important to confirm.

Just as he had shot the swordsman away, he heard a ding sound, originating from the Seven Days to Die system, and a bloodstained backpack appeared out of thin air as the swordsman flew backward, landing right in front of him!

That's right!

He dropped a loot bag!
