Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Dark Phantom

"Draconis, Your Highness, you cannot go out!"

Old Butler Elif heard Draconis wanted to go out with the Knights Order to find the missing Anna, and immediately tried to dissuade him.

"You are the last hope of this territory. If anything happens to you, the remaining people alone will not be able to survive this winter!"

The forest at night is very dangerous; some dangerous Pokémon that are rarely seen during the day often choose this time to hunt.

"I know, Alfred." Draconis put on his cashmere hood and said, "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing, and Ryan and the others have already thoroughly investigated this area. There's no danger nearby, and besides, if there were, Ryan and the others would protect me."

"That's right!"

With a clang, Ryan drew his weapon.

The most important thing now is to confirm Anna's condition.

If she's just lost and can't find her way back, that would be fine.

But if she encountered some dangerous Pokémon and couldn't return, that would be bad. They set up camp here, and sooner or later, they would run into it.

Currently, no one in the entire camp knows Pokémon better than him.

If the identity of that Pokémon is not confirmed, Draconis always feels uneasy.

As for danger… running away if he can't win is not something to be ashamed of.

Moreover, the human physique in the Pokémon world is very special; injuries can quickly recover by simply applying medicine.

Seeing Draconis's mind was made up, Alfred sighed with a worried expression.

He opened his mouth and said, "Your Highness… please be careful on your way!"

Ryan and the others took torches and followed Anna's footprints into the forest.

Just as Draconis expected, they did not encounter any danger along the way, not even a single Pokémon.

The footprints extended deep into the forest. Looking at the still clear footprints, Draconis was incredibly grateful that it hadn't snowed today, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to see these footprints.

As they walked, everyone suddenly arrived at a place with obvious signs of a struggle.

The ground here was covered with messy footprints, some human, and some from an unknown Pokémon.

Seeing this, Ryan's expression became serious: "Draconis, Your Highness, here!"

Hearing this, Draconis walked forward, observing the footprints, and said, "It seems there was a fight here not long ago."

Could Anna, a little girl who had just turned ten, stand a chance against a Pokémon?

Although the human physique in the Pokémon world is special, they are not immortal.

Looking in the direction where the footprints continued, Draconis said, "It seems Anna went somewhere else."

The footprints were very messy, looking as if their owner had run over in a hurry.

Halfway, the footprints suddenly disappeared, replaced by the mark of something rolling past.

Draconis looked up ahead.

There was a dangerous cliff.

*

"Am I dead?"

Anna vaguely woke up from her coma. She tried to sit up but suddenly felt a sharp pain in her arm.

"Hiss… it hurts so much!"

"How did I get here?"

At first, Anna was still a bit confused.

But soon, she recalled everything.

She encountered a very terrifying Pokémon and accidentally fell off the cliff while escaping!

Wait!

Where is that little guy?

Anna quickly turned her head and looked around.

The cold moonlight spilled onto the ground, and the snow reflected the moonlight, illuminating the surroundings with a chilly glow.

It was then that Anna saw a small figure approaching from a distance, holding something in its mouth.

That was… the little Pokémon!

Anna's eyes lit up. Great! It's fine too!

Under Anna's gaze, Zorua quickly arrived in front of her.

Only then did Anna see clearly that what it was holding in its mouth was an Energy Root for healing injuries!

Anna was a little stunned.

The next second, she saw this "Pokémon" come to her injured arm, and then, with a slight bite, the Energy Root was squeezed, and drops of juice continuously dripped down onto Anna's injured area.

A miraculous scene occurred.

The wounds actually began to heal at a visible rate.

"Eh?!"

Anna's eyes widened.

Is this Pokémon… saving her?

This was the first time Anna had encountered such a situation since she was a child. She was so surprised that she didn't know how to react for a moment.

Since childhood, both the people around her and her mother had told her that Pokémon were very dangerous creatures, and once she encountered one, she should immediately turn and run, otherwise she would be attacked by them and lose her life.

But now… it seems not all Pokémon would harm humans… This thought suddenly appeared in Anna's mind.

Many things had happened today, and perhaps it was tired, Zorua yawned wearily.

It gently walked to the side, lay down alone on the cold ground, closed its eyes, and began to rest.

"Hey! Aren't you cold?" Anna couldn't help but ask.

Zorua opened its eyes and looked over.

"Oh, I haven't asked your name yet…" A smile appeared on Anna's face: "Hello! My name is Anna!"

"Woo…" Zorua let out a low Growl from its throat, as if responding to the girl's words.

Looking at the little Pokémon sleeping on the snow, Anna felt it must be very cold, so she ignored Zorua's struggles and picked it up into her arms.

"Hehe, this way you won't be cold!" Anna said, holding Zorua, "You sleep!"

Zorua was stunned for a moment, realizing that it was indeed warmer here than on the ground, so it slowly closed its eyes, preparing to rest.

But the next second, it heard Anna's voice again.

"Hey! Aren't you going home? Won't your mom and dad worry about you?"

Zorua shook its head: "Woo…"

Anna's eyes immediately widened: "You mean, you don't have a mom and dad?"

Zorua looked at her.

Although it didn't speak, Anna miraculously understood its meaning.

No way… This Pokémon actually doesn't have a mom and dad. No wonder it was waiting to die alone so pitifully today.

Thinking of this, Anna's heart was immediately filled with tenderness and pity.

She also said sadly, "You don't have a mom, and I don't have a dad. We both lost very important family members."

"Woo…"

Zorua quietly looked at the girl in front of it.

It extended its paw and pressed it on Anna's hand, trying to comfort the girl in this way.

However, the next second, Zorua heard the other party suddenly ask with an excited tone:

"Oh, little Pokémon, do you want to live with me? I live with my mom now, and if you're willing to live with us, then you'll also have a family!"

Hearing these words, Zorua was slightly stunned.

One second Anna was happily inviting Zorua, and the next second she started talking to herself again.

She looked up at the sky with a worried expression, murmuring:

"It's just that we seem to be trapped here now…"
