When afternoon came, just as Lucien had said, the pain was completely gone.
Elise slowly sat up, her green eyes moved around the dimly lit room. The curtains were half closed, and the air still carried Lucien's faint scent. Even though he had been angry with her, he had still left her in his bedroom. Her safest place at the moment.
To Elise, Lucien's room felt like a sanctuary that would save her from bad people, including her father and the girl posing to be his sister.
Her heart softened.
She needed to do something to please him. Something to pay him back for taking care of her.
Lucien had taken care of her even though she disobeyed him. Elise smiled, she's heard a few people say the key to a man's heart is food. Maybe she could prepare something delicious for Lucien. He's definitely going to love it.
