All good things must come to an end.

After wandering around Konoha with Kushina Uzumaki, day gave way to night far too quickly.

Qianyu reluctantly escorted Kushina back to her residence, then walked alone back to Orochimaru's underground base. His own house? Untouched for so long, it was probably coated in dust. Cleaning it just for one night's stay felt like a hassle. Straight to the base it was.

As he walked, Qianyu replayed his earlier conversation with Mito Uzumaki in his mind.

He could feel it—Mito genuinely saw him as a junior, with a kind of
 familial concern.

But Qianyu couldn't bring himself to see her as an elder.

Because no matter how much Mito loved Kushina, it didn't change one fact: she was willing to let Kushina be hurt for the sake of Konoha.

And that damn malicious intent sensing of hers? A serious pain. It meant every lie, every half-truth, she'd see right through it.

How could he fool her?

His mind churned, searching for a countermeasure.

Deep in thought, he didn't notice the two figures blocking his path until they were right in front of him.

He looked up. Frowned.

The Uchiha crest. Clan members.

"Well, well, look who it is. If it isn't Uchiha Qianyu."

"Uchiha? Don't make me laugh. He doesn't deserve the name. Just a half-breed bastard."

"Hah! Right, my mistake!"

The two Uchiha sneered, their laughter sharp and grating.

Qianyu's face darkened. He didn't have time for this. He moved to step around them.

They shifted, one in front, one behind, cutting off his path.

"What's the hurry? Hit a nerve?"

"Tell me I'm wrong. Bastard."

"Get out of my way," Qianyu said, his voice low.

The command just made them laugh harder.

The one in front, Uchiha Yƫto, reached out to shove him.

Qianyu's hand snapped up, catching Yƫto's wrist mid-air.

Yƫto was older, but Qianyu's training was relentless. His grip was iron.

Fingers tightened.

Yƫto's sneer twisted into a grimace of pain. "Let go! Let go!"

Qianyu ignored him. Squeezed harder.

Behind him, Uchiha Kazuma saw his friend's distress and threw a punch at the back of Qianyu's head.

Qianyu didn't even turn. His leg shot back in a vicious kick.

THUMP.

Kazuma flew backwards, crashing to the ground.

Qianyu's grip on Yƫto's wrist never wavered. His eyes were half-lidded, gaze fixed on nothing. "I said. Get lost."

Pain. Humiliation. They warred on YĆ«to's face. He wouldn't yield. "You're just clan trash! A bastard! How dare you—!"

His free hand flashed, a kunai aiming straight for Qianyu's temple.

"Too slow."

A slight tilt of the head. The blade whistled past empty air.

Qianyu's knee drove upward, crushing into Yƫto's gut.

"Guhk—!"

The air left Yƫto's lungs in a violent cough. His eyes bulged. The kunai clattered to the street.

Still holding the wrist, Qianyu pivoted, driving his elbow into the side of Yƫto's head.

Dazed, Yƫto staggered back and crumpled.

"Yƫto!"

Kazuma scrambled up, rushing to his friend's side.

Yƫto wiped spit from his mouth, hate burning in his eyes. "Kazuma! Together! Let's teach this piece of shit!"

He flung a volley of shuriken.

SHING.

Qianyu's tachi cleared its sheath in a blur of steel. A flash of light. The shuriken were batted aside, scattering across the ground.

Yƫto and Kazuma charged, kunai in hand.

A blink.

Qianyu vanished.

"What? Body Flicker?"

"Where—?"

A voice, cold as death, whispered from behind them. "Not Body Flicker. Just speed. I told you. You're too slow."

CRACK.

The flat of the tachi smashed into Yƫto's kunai-wielding right arm. The sound was wet, final. The arm bent at a sickening angle.

"AAAGH!"

Yƫto screamed, collapsing, clutching his shattered limb as he writhed on the ground.

Qianyu's free hand shot out, seizing Kazuma's weapon arm from behind. A kick to the back of the knee. Kazuma dropped, forced into a kneeling position.

Qianyu planted a foot on his back, keeping him pinned, his other hand still vise-locked on Kazuma's wrist.

His voice was a soft, terrible thing. "Konoha rule. Never raise a hand against a comrade. You attacked first. With weapons. So me, acting in self-defense
breaking one arm each. Seems fair, doesn't it?"

To Kazuma, it was a demon's murmur.

"P-please! No!" he begged, panic swallowing him whole.

Qianyu didn't answer. His foot pressed down. His hand twisted.

SNAP.

Another crack, echoing in the silent street.

Kazuma joined his friend on the ground, a chorus of broken sobs and agony.

Qianyu looked down at them, his expression icy. "Pathetic. And you call yourselves Uchiha. Hah."

Even broken, Yƫto's hatred burned. He glared up, venom in his eyes. "The Uchiha clan
 won't let this stand!"

Qianyu shook his head, pity and scorn mixing in his gaze. "Look at you two. Sixteen? Seventeen? I break your arms, and still no Sharingan. Can't even awaken it?"

He leaned forward slightly. "If the whole clan is full of useless trash like you, I really don't have much to worry about."

Their pale faces flushed with shame and rage. They opened their mouths to retort—

And froze.

Scarlet light bloomed in Qianyu's eyes. The tomoe spun lazily. A faint, cruel smile touched his lips. "Gotta admit though. The Uchiha's Sharingan? Pretty damn useful."

He turned to leave. Paused. Glanced back over his shoulder.

"Oh, right. You Uchiha run the Military Police. Love slapping charges on people, don't you?"

The smile widened. "I'll be waiting. Come find me. I'm at my teacher, Orochimaru's, base. Don't tell me you don't know who he is. Go ask your elders."

They knew. Of course they knew. One of the Legendary Sannin.

This bastard
not only had the Sharingan they lacked
 he was a Sannin's student?

Qianyu took in their wretched forms one last time. A derisive snort escaped him.

"Idiots."

Then he walked away, leaving two broken Uchiha in the darkening street.
