Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

I woke up and let out a long yawn.

"Is it morning already..?"

I stood up and headed to the bathroom. After taking a shower, I grabbed my toothbrush, applied some toothpaste, and brushed my teeth. Once finished, I quickly got dressed for the day.

After eating my breakfast, I headed straight to Sylven Academy early to practice my aim.

WHOOSH!

'Missed again.'

'Fireball.'

The spell hit the center of the target. It dealt significantly more damage than it had yesterday. I continued my practice until it was time for class. While walking through the halls, I noticed a girl being harassed.

I went over to see who was being targeted by the three men. When I saw her appearance, I froze. She was cute but had a scary aura, with short black hair. I realized immediately that it was Raven, a powerful user of dark magic.

'She's gonna become the... the what again..? nevermind, I'll just help out.'

Before I could step in, I saw all three men sprawled on the floor. I realized then that she didn't need my help at all. She turned her gaze toward me and glared, her black eyes glowing with dark magic. I looked straight ahead and simply walked past the scene.

WHISTLE

I eventually reached my classroom. After a while, the professor arrived and began a lecture on water magic. He demonstrated several water-based skills to the class. Once the lesson concluded, I immediately headed back to the school training grounds.

I continued to cast fireballs repeatedly. After some time, I began to feel the onset of fatigue, but I pushed through to cast one more spell.

[Basic Fireball Level Increased 2>3]

'Just one more and it's gonna evolve.'

'Fireball.'

The impact was massive. The size of the fireball had grown, and the light it emitted was much brighter than before.

Suddenly, a hand poked my shoulder. I turned around to see a man with green hair. He was just an extra.

The system screen flickered next to him.

[Name: Leo Sterling]

'Leo Sterling..?'

"What do you want?"

"Hey Julian. Did you do something to reach that high of a place? I saw the rankings this morning... 11th? You?"

He let out a sharp, mocking laugh. His green hair was messy from the wind mana radiating off his body.

"Everyone knows you're just an arrogant noble with no talent. To see your name that high up on the board is an insult to those of us who actually worked for our spots. You clearly found some pathetic exploit or cheated your way through the test."

He stepped into my personal space, his eyes narrowing with spite.

"If you're really worth that rank, you won't mind proving it. Duel me, Julian. Let's show everyone that your high place is nothing but a mistake."

SIGH

"Alright, I just need to rest for 5 minutes."

The extra walked away toward the arena.

'Arghh! these extras are so annoying! I'm gonna destroy that arrogant guy.'

After five minutes, I stood up and made my way to the arena. I prepared myself for the fight but decided not to bring a weapon. We both stood on the stage, surrounded by a crowd that had gathered to see me fight again.

"Huh? are you gonna fight me barehanded?"

"I don't need a weapon."

The fight began instantly. He opened the match with wind magic.

"Wind wave!"

A sudden gust of air tried to push me off the stage. I braced myself to maintain my balance, covering my face with my right arm. When the wind finally settled, I looked up to find that he had vanished from his spot.

I felt a sudden chill and dashed forward, narrowly dodging a sharp wind slash from behind.

'What the hell!?'

I spun around, but he was gone again. I noticed a shadow moving rapidly across the floor. I looked up at the sky and saw him hovering above, rushing down at me.

"Wind bullet!"

I slid to the left to avoid the projectile.

SHHHH!

He landed on the floor and immediately fired another wind bullet.

"fireball."

My fireball spiraled in the wrong direction, missing my stationary opponent completely. I avoided his next attack with another quick, smooth slide. I quickly concentrated and casted three fireballs at once. Two flew wide, but one managed to slam directly into his right shoulder.

He looked visibly irritated. I knew this was my chance to rush him. I sprinted toward him at full speed. He tried to manifest a wind bullet in his left hand to stop me, but I was faster. I landed a solid punch right in his face before he could finish the cast.

"I won."

'phew, that was quite fun.'

I then left the defeated green-haired guy on the floor.

'Damn. I really packed a punch. It was enough to shut him up for good.'

I headed toward the dorms to find my room, repeating the number under my breath like a mission objective.

'Room 84... Room 84... Room 84...'

Finally, I spotted a door with 84 engraved on its plate.

'Ah, there it is.'

I then saw that it was already open and took a quick sneak peek. The room was filled with my belongings, but there was also other stuff that didn't belong to me. I saw two beds, one on the left wall and one on the right.

The left bed had an item placed on top of it. I ignored it and jumped onto the soft bed on the right, ready to call it a night.

'Wait. Two beds..?'

I quickly stood up and went to the other bed. I pulled down the blanket a little to see a sleeping girl with silver hair. I covered her back up immediately.

'Okay, so I do have a roommate.'

'I'll just finish this and go to sleep.'

I unsheathed my sword and started doing a thousand slashes. I finished the set with ease, feeling less tired than before as my body adapted to the training. After that, I checked for a bathroom and found one. I quickly showered, brushed my teeth, and changed my clothes.

The system suddenly appeared in front of me again.

[Charisma Increased]

[Popularity Increased]

'Charisma and popularity increase..?'

'That might be good or bad.'

I quickly climbed into my bed and closed my eyes.
