Chapter 29 - Going Mad

"Why are you so stubborn… stop fighting… I'm sure the army would definitely help you."

Millie looked devastated, her gaze moving from Aron's corpse to Xavier, a hopeless look in her eyes. Still, she gritted her teeth and said word by word, "Don't fight her. You are not her match."

Jackie watched this scene play out silently, the complicated look in her eyes deepening.

Tap! Tap! Lucy's footsteps echoed in the surroundings like thunder.

The look in Xavier's eyes slightly softened. He could instinctively tell Millie genuinely cared about his safety.

Ignoring her words, he turned to look Lucy right in the eye and said word by word, "Take one more step and you can say goodbye to this world."

His voice was cold and plain with a hint of tiredness mixed in it. It wasn't like he was afraid, but after fighting every single moment for his life since the apocalypse arrived, he wanted some slack.

If this woman wanted to fight him for no reason at all, then so be it—but he wasn't going to be the only one bleeding this time.

Silence.

Following his words, a terrifying silence descended in the surroundings, a grim and suffocating silence. The only sound that reverberated was the sound of blood flowing out from the headless corpse, forming a crimson pool beneath it.

Jackie's eyes widened slightly as she looked at Xavier's hands in absolute shock. Not just her, but even Lucy's eyes were on Xavier—especially on the token in his hand. That pulsing crimson token radiated a chilling atmosphere; anyone who looked at it felt as if a cold sharp dagger had been placed on their throat—one wrong move and their heads would roll.

This was the First Sequence Instant Kill Token that Xavier got as a reward. He was saving this trump card for serious situations… the present was very serious—for his mental well-being.

The feeling was most intense for Lucy, the prime target. Feeling something wet, Lucy unconsciously raised her hand toward her neck. Without her realizing it, an extremely fine cut had appeared on her neck, droplets of blood slowly forming together.

Lucy's eyes instantly narrowed to slits, anger bursting out from her figure like a volcano. Anything that was close to her instantly turned to shreds, the ground cracking and spiderweb-like fissures spreading in all directions.

With a cold stare that could freeze the souls of ordinary people, Lucy looked at Xavier right in the eyes and said, thick killing intent overflowing from her gaze:

"How dare you…"

Xavier simply raised his finger to his mouth and said, "You shut up and don't say anything. One word out of your mouth and… boom. Understand?"

As he said those words, a look of madness flashed through his eyes. This time he really meant it. He no longer had the intention of being tossed around like a rug. To hell with playing it safe—just this once, he wanted to be an unhinged madman.

He was ready to pour his mana into the First Sequence Instant Kill Token.

Oh boy… Zerin's voice once again echoed in his head, but before she could say anything, Xavier cut her off.

"Keep your mouth shut. I don't want to hear anything right now."

What if I don't? What are you going to do about it…?

Xavier ignored her words, focusing entirely on Lucy's figure. It was only when she completely stopped moving that he shook his head and turned around, walking away step by step.

Fuck this camp, fuck these people, fuck everything… He would find some other way to find his family. There was no need to entertain these idiotic clowns.

"Bastard!" Lucy cursed in anger but didn't follow Xavier.

"Wait, where are you going? You can't just leave…" Millie hurriedly got up and gave chase.

For some strange reason, Jackie also started moving to join Millie.

"Hmm, Dr. Mike, what sort of treasure was that token…?" Commander Jackson asked while wiping the cold sweat off his forehead.

Commander Jackson felt chills run down his spine the moment Xavier took out the Instant Kill Token.

Dr. Mike fixed his glasses, his hands shaking, and said in a low voice, "No idea."

He truly had no idea this time. Whatever information they had gotten from outside, there was no mention of such a treasure.

"Where are you going…"

Zerin's figure emerged from the shadows. Under the moonlight her skin glowed faintly, her long black hair dancing in the wind. Each of her actions was graceful and charming, causing Xavier's heartbeat to accelerate. Finally, after taking a deep breath, he turned his head away.

Man, this situation is getting to my head. I need to find a way to vent my frustration…

Xavier acted as if he didn't see Zerin's breathtakingly beautiful figure and turned his focus somewhere else.

Fort John army camp was nothing more than a shadow behind him. He had no idea where he was going, but he was going somewhere.

Zerin also didn't pay attention to him. Her eyes seemed to pierce through the endless expanse to look at the Abyssal Tear far away in the deep space. For some unknown reason, the tear was thinning at a very fast rate.

Concerned, her eyebrows couldn't help but scrunch together.

Just then Xavier turned his head back and asked the question that had been bothering him for some time.

"Hmm, tell me—why did you ask me not to put my unassigned attribute points into anything else other than Health?"

Xavier's voice sounded slightly suspicious. If it weren't for this, his battle with the Fire Breathing Tiger might not have been that hard.

His words caused Zerin to shift her focus away from the Abyssal Tear and onto Xavier. A slight smirk appeared on the corner of her face.

"Why should I answer you…?"

"You want me to stop asking my questions?" Xavier asked with a frown.

Just then a slightly teasing smile appeared on her face. "You know what, I have a better idea—why don't you beg me for an answer?"

Xavier's expression froze, his face turning into an angry scowl.

He was about to burst into anger when he noticed two figures standing some distance away.

It was none other than Millie and Jackie.

Of course he had long noticed they were following him, but at that time his mood was terrible, so he didn't bother asking.

But now he could no longer ignore them.
