Chapter 65 - The Hunter Exam Begins (Bonus Chapter)

Hyuga Arin found a corner and sat down on the ground. For now, the number of people present didn't seem particularly large.

"Yo, you're number 88, right?" A slightly overweight man walked up to Hyuga Arin on his own initiative, wearing a friendly smile. "I'm Tonpa. This is my 16th time. Nice to meet you."

Hyuga Arin tilted his head and looked at the man in front of him.

He remembered this guy from the Hunter x Hunter storyline—Tonpa, the so-called Rookie Crusher.

And this guy had actually set his sights on him.

Wasn't that basically hanging himself at the city gate?

Seeing that Hyuga Arin gave no response, Tonpa's smile stiffened slightly. He changed the subject and said, "You look like a newcomer. I'm a veteran of this exam. If there's anything you don't understand, you can ask me."

"Oh." Hyuga Arin nodded.

Then his figure suddenly burst forward. One hand grabbed Tonpa by the face and slammed him heavily into the ground.

Boom!!

[Experience +15]

"So little experience." Hyuga Arin looked at the unconscious Tonpa with disdain. Trash like this couldn't even drop anything worthwhile.

The huge commotion immediately drew everyone's attention.

"Hahaha, Tonpa finally kicked an iron plate."

"He's out really fast this time."

"That guy's not simple."

Some people watched Tonpa's unconscious body with schadenfreude, while others looked at Hyuga Arin with wary eyes.

There was also a man with clown makeup on his face, licking his lips with his tongue and wearing a pathological smile.

Hyuga Arin ignored everyone and silently returned to his corner to sit down again. As his gaze swept around, many people who met his eyes quickly turned their heads away.

Only Hisoka continued to look at him with great interest.

Hyuga Arin hesitated for a moment, then withdrew his gaze.

At his current level, he was no match for Hisoka.

Even if this guy were transferred to the Naruto server, he'd still be considered jōnin-level. Although his abilities lacked some versatility due to the absence of ninTechnique, his outstanding combat talent meant that even an average jōnin might not be able to defeat him.

Moreover, Hyuga Arin had no idea what kind of loot dropped on the Hunter server. He had only ever paid attention to the Naruto server.

As time passed, Hyuga Arin saw a boy dressed in green, followed by two others—one in ethnic clothing, the other in a suit.

This group—

Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio. The original protagonists.

"So it's jumping straight into the start of the story?"

Hyuga Arin merely glanced at the three of them. Unexpectedly, Gon seemed to sense something and looked back at him, flashing a bright smile.

"So sharp." Hyuga Arin withdrew his gaze.

Gon's perception alone would qualify him as a sensory-type ninja in the Naruto world.

Then, remembering that the main group still had another key member, Hyuga Arin swept his eyes across the crowd again and spotted a white-haired boy.

Killua Zoldyck.

A genius youth born into a family of assassins.

With all four main characters present, Hyuga Arin now had one major advantage—he knew exactly what the upcoming tests would be.

Even if he didn't, he could clear them quickly with his abilities. Still, knowing in advance would save some trouble.

Ding-ling-ling! A piercing chime rang out from above.

Everyone looked up.

A man with a curved mustache on his face was slowly descending from above.

"Registration time has officially ended."

As the man landed, many people stepped aside.

"The Hunter Exam now officially begins."

As soon as his words fell, tension spread through the crowd. Hyuga Arin stood up from the ground.

"Please come this way."

"Before we begin, we must confirm something, because the Hunter Exam…"

The man spoke of the exam's dangers while walking forward, but no one paid much attention to his warnings.

"If you still choose to participate, then follow me."

"This year's exam has 405 applicants, correct?"

The man continued walking. Although his pace looked normal, it grew faster and faster, forcing those behind him to gradually break into a run.

Poor Mr. Tonpa was eliminated on the spot, still unconscious on the ground.

"So the test has already begun?" Hyuga Arin followed casually near the back of the group.

He didn't want to stand out too much yet. As his gaze swept over the people at the rear, a hint of hesitation flashed in his eyes.

These people were clearly destined to be eliminated. Should he give them a helping hand?

While he was thinking, shuriken had already appeared in his hand.

"Trying to harvest apples so casually won't do~"

A voice with a strange cadence sounded beside him.

Hyuga Arin turned his head and saw Hisoka had somehow appeared at his side.

He hadn't sensed him at all.

Zetsu?

And had his intentions been noticed?

Hyuga Arin smiled. "You really are hungry enough to eat anything, Hisoka."

Those people who couldn't keep up were barely stronger than ordinary civilians. Apart from giving him a bit of experience, they were completely useless.

Hisoka wore a sickly grin. "Compared to those rotten apples, I'm far more interested in you."

As he spoke, a playing card appeared in his hand.

Hyuga Arin's eyes narrowed. He immediately activated the Byakugan, seeing the energy wrapped around the card.

Why had this guy locked onto him?

Hisoka flicked the playing card straight at Hyuga Arin.

Hyuga Arin raised his hand and threw several shuriken, colliding with the card midair.

The clashing sound drew the attention of the bald examiner, Satotz, who turned and saw the playing card lying on the ground.

"A ninja?"

There was actually a ninja participating in this Hunter Exam?

At the back of the group, Hisoka looked at Hyuga Arin with even greater interest.

There was no Nen on the shuriken, yet the force imbued in them far exceeded that of ordinary people. At the same time, a kind of blue energy appeared around Hyuga Arin's body.

It looked similar to Nen, yet Hisoka sensed a fundamental difference.

An ability completely different from Nen?

The smile on Hisoka's face grew even more intense.

"What exactly do you want?" Hyuga Arin stared at Hisoka warily. With the Byakugan, he could clearly see the power wrapping around Hisoka—the energy known as Nen.

"Just a test~" Hisoka blinked. He really wanted to devour the apple before him, but it wasn't the right time yet.

For now, he gave up on Hyuga Arin and strode quickly toward the front.

Hyuga Arin narrowed his eyes, noticing that many people in the crowd had been drawn by the exchange between him and Hisoka.

Satotz, and the man covered in needles—Illumi, Killua's older brother.

"I've gotten myself tangled up in trouble," Hyuga Arin muttered irritably.

By his estimation, his current strength in the Hunter world was roughly on par with experienced Hunters.

He was still far from the top-tier masters.

After passing through the long tunnel, many people were eliminated for failing to keep up.

The group gradually came to a stop.

Beyond the tunnel lay a forest shrouded in thick mist.

"Drokpa Wetlands, more commonly known as the Nest of Tricksters."
