The group traveled without stopping and headed directly into the Land of Demons.
The entire country was shrouded beneath dark clouds.
Even outside sunlight could not penetrate the gloom.
"Lord Arin."
Miroku stood respectfully behind Hyuga Arin.
Everyone currently stood atop a cliff overlooking the scene below.
Countless humanoid creatures made of stone marched endlessly forward.
The earth itself had already been overtaken by those rocky beings.
Arin looked down upon them from above.
"It seems the situation in your Land of Demons isn't very good."
Miroku's eyes trembled as she stared at the countless stone creatures walking across the land.
Her body shook violently, and she nearly collapsed to the ground.
Fortunately, Arin reached out and supported her.
"The Land of Demons… has fallen."
Originally, she had foreseen Mōryō breaking free from its seal.
That was why she had hurried to Konoha seeking assistance.
But she never expected Mōryō to break the seal this quickly.
"The reward for this mission is pretty high."
Arin grinned broadly.
"Everything will satisfy you, Lord Arin."
Miroku pressed her hands together before her chest.
She knew Mōryō could not possibly have broken the seal so quickly without outside help.
"Then leave the rest to me."
Arin slowly raised both hands and aimed them toward the endless stone puppets in the distance.
Massive fireballs suddenly formed high in the sky before rapidly descending.
They crashed directly into the Immortal Army below.
BOOM!! BOOM!! BOOM!!
The explosions rang out endlessly.
The fireballs smashed into the earth and transformed into enormous rocky giants that slowly rose to their feet.
Molten green lava flowed through the seams of their bodies.
Arin had never once said he could summon only a single Infernal.
And then—
He overlapped his index and middle fingers slightly, peering through the gap toward the distance.
"Awooo!!"
A gigantic demonic fox suddenly appeared and devoured huge portions of the Immortal Army in one bite.
Arin raised both hands upward.
Several tornadoes emerged around the battlefield, violently sweeping the Immortal Army into the sky.
EXP: 102 / 105 / 106 / 105...
"They're a bit stronger than ordinary people."
"About genin level."
Though the experience rewards were low—
There were enough enemies to make up for it.
"What kind of 'Immortal Army' is this?"
Arin sneered coldly.
"What, did they think they were the Terracotta Army or something?"
Though they were indeed immune to ordinary blades and weapons—
Their defenses were simply far too weak in Arin's eyes.
Flaming wings spread open behind him as he charged directly toward the massive undead army.
"I leave everything to you, Lord Arin!!"
Miroku shouted loudly behind him.
Whether Arin heard her or not was unclear.
He merely raised one arm.
A gigantic fireball formed high above, violent winds spiraling madly within it.
"Gaia Energy Cannon!!"
The blazing "sun" crashed into the Immortal Army.
The resulting explosion swallowed everything in endless flames.
Arin glanced at the item drops.
Most of them were skills related to the Shinigami class.
Completely useless to him.
He wasn't in any hurry to descend and collect them.
Instead, he continued bombarding the Immortal Army below.
To him—
These undead soldiers were simply too weak.
…
"What kind of monster is that?!"
Inside the ritual altar, Yomi stared at the endless explosions illuminating the previously gloomy land.
He had been so close to succeeding.
Why had such a terrifying monster suddenly appeared?
From his perspective, all he could see was a tiny black dot floating in the sky, continuously creating sun-like fireballs and hurling them downward.
Suddenly, he felt as though someone was staring directly at him.
Instinctively, he took a step backward.
"What is this…?"
High in the sky, Arin merely glanced once toward Yomi standing atop the altar before losing interest entirely.
Yomi had no allies beside him.
Even without Arin's interference—
Yomi would ultimately fail anyway.
Compared to Yomi and the Mōryō sealed inside him—
Arin currently cared far more about the adorable little monsters below.
The Infernals and Demonic Fox continued destroying the Immortal Army relentlessly.
Though each possessed strength comparable to genin—
They had absolutely no ability to resist.
They could only passively await destruction.
The guards protecting Miroku stared in utter shock at the battlefield before them.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Endless explosions echoed constantly.
Blinding flashes illuminated the shadow-covered land over and over.
Miroku knelt upon the ground with her hands clasped together, staring upward at the figure in the sky with worshipful eyes.
"This… is the power of a god."
BOOM!!
Violent winds swept outward across the battlefield.
Arin had grown somewhat bored.
Raising both hands, countless flaming arrows materialized in the sky.
They rained downward endlessly.
BOOM BOOM BOOM!!
At this point, the scene looked even more apocalyptic than the Immortal Army's original appearance.
Arin watched the experience notifications flicker wildly before his eyes.
His large-scale destruction rapidly thinned the army's numbers.
Once only a small portion remained—
He finally turned his gaze toward Yomi in the distance.
Yomi, who had still been desperately trying to think of a solution, suddenly shrank his pupils.
Now he was certain—
The other party had truly noticed him.
From such an enormous distance too.
"This monster is not something you can oppose."
Mōryō's voice echoed inside Yomi's mind.
"Give your body completely to me."
"I can defeat him."
Yomi hesitated briefly.
At the moment, he was still capable of resisting Mōryō's corruption.
If he had Miroku's assistance, he could even fully suppress Mōryō.
Originally, he had wanted to cooperate with the shrine maiden Miroku.
But then he learned she had gone to Konoha.
So he had no choice but to temporarily seal Mōryō within his own body.
Now Konoha's shinobi had arrived.
Which meant Miroku had likely returned as well.
But no one had warned him she would bring back a monster like this.
At that moment, Arin was already flying directly toward him at astonishing speed.
So fast that Yomi could now clearly see Arin's face.
"Then I leave it to you!!"
Grinding his teeth, Yomi completely relinquished control of his consciousness and allowed Mōryō to take over his body.
Dark purple chakra erupted violently from him.
"Hahahaha! I can finally emerge!"
At that moment, Arin floated high in the air while looking down at the man now overflowing with black-purple chakra.
"What's your name?"
Mōryō raised his head and looked at Arin.
"Hyuga Arin."
As Arin sensed the chakra erupting from Mōryō, he couldn't help but marvel.
"What terrifying chakra."
"Even ordinary Tailed Beasts can't compare."
Though this chakra was filled with malice—
It honestly didn't seem all that useful.
Mōryō stretched out one hand toward Arin.
"Your power is impressive."
"Join me."
"Together we can rule this world once more, just like a thousand years ago."
A smile slowly curved across Arin's lips.
"That is…"
"If you survive first."
He slowly raised his hand.
A gigantic fireball condensed above his palm while Wind Release fused into it.
The fireball expanded another entire level instantly.
And not only that—
Hidden Release merged into it as well.
"Tch."
Mōryō snorted coldly.
All his chakra transformed into physical substance and surged toward Arin.
That chakra was also his body itself.
"You don't even know how to properly use this power."
Arin watched the endless black-purple energy rush toward him—
Only to become completely unable to approach his body.
A spherical layer of wind surrounded him completely, protecting him from all sides.
"I'm a little disappointed, Mōryō."
Arin casually tossed the fireball downward.
