Chapter 99 - Ch 99: Never Underestimate Brunch

Garfield wasted no time.

He tossed the two brothers straight at Rin, ordering her to 'teach them discipline.'

Rin had only been home for half a day.

And now Standing before her were…

A towering Nine-Tails

A smaller Nine-Tails perched nearby

And two infamous criminals with shaved heads, standing stiffly like punished children

Rin's face went pale.

Kyuubi… so many people in Konoha had died because of it.

And now it was back. Worse still, there were two of them.

One big. One small.

How was that not terrifying?

Kumatarō and Kumajirō didn't have good reputations either. Even their names were enough to make people nervous.

Rin felt dizzy.

What made it even more surreal was seeing Garfield and Hashirama squatting casually on top of the Nine-Tails' head, chatting as if they were sitting on a park bench.

Last time, Rin had nearly died because of a tailed beast.

Has history changed? If things change this much…

A chill ran through her, what if Obito and Kakashi are never born?

She was supposed to supervise Kumatarō and Kumajirō while they planted trees.

But her heart was far away.

The two brothers, bound by a strict contract, squatted on the ground with deeply aggrieved expressions.

"Kumatarō… what do we do now?" Kumajirō whispered nervously. "I'm scared."

"Don't panic," Kumatarō replied in a low voice. "Just do what the master says."

"But… didn't we swear to rule the world?"

Kumatarō sighed. "You idiot. If the master rules the world, doesn't that mean we rule it too?"

"…Oh." Kumajirō froze.

"You're right, Kumatarō."

"Focus," Kumatarō said. "Follow orders properly. We can still achieve our ambitions."

"Mmm. I understand."

"HEY." Rin suddenly snapped back to reality.

She planted her hands on her hips and glared at the two bald men.

"Are you two spacing out?"

"If you're lazy, do you want to skip lunch?"

The effect was immediate.

"We're not lazy!" Kumatarō and Kumajirō turned pale.

"Please don't punish us without food!"

"We'll start right now!"

"Immediately!" Kumatarō slammed his hands together.

"Earth Release, Ultimate Hole-Digging Technique!"

Boom—boom—boom!

Perfectly square pits, one meter wide and one meter apart, spread outward in a massive circle over a hundred meters.

Kumajirō moved like lightning.

He grabbed the saplings specially cultivated by Hashirama and planted them at top speed.

Behind him, Kumatarō sealed the soil back in place, then followed up with Water Release, carefully irrigating each tree.

Their teamwork was flawless.

In less than an hour, a barren stretch of mountainside had transformed into lush green land.

Rin inspected the area carefully, walking the perimeter to ensure nothing was missed.

Finally, she nodded. "Alright. Today's noon task is complete. Go back and wait for lunch."

Kumatarō straightened instantly. "Yes, Lady Rin!"

Kumajirō hesitated, then scratched his head awkwardly.

"Um… Lady Rin…"

"Can lunch be… a little more today?"

Seeing her expression, he quickly added in a tiny voice. "Just a little…"

Rin stared at his face and shiny bald head.

"Hahaha, fine. Eat until you're full." She burst out laughing.

"Thank you, Lady Rin!" Kumajirō jumped with joy.

Kumatarō, however, sighed quietly.

An elite jōnin… priceless treasure's in hand… and yet I've fallen to planting trees for lunch…

"…Sigh." He looked up at the sky.

"Kumatarō, let's go. It's time to eat." Seeing no response from his brother, Kumajirō reached out and poked him.

Kumatarō shot him a sideways glance.

Kumajirō puffed up and snapped back, "You only ever think about eating."

Then he lowered his voice, looking wronged. "…But I heard today's brunch is fried chicken. The good kind."

Kumatarō froze.

"Why didn't you say that earlier?" He barked. "If we're late, Master Shōkyū will eat everything!"

Bang!

Kumatarō smacked Kumajirō aside and bolted toward the dining area.

Staring at his brother's rapidly shrinking back, Kumajirō panicked. "Hey! Big Bear, wait for me!"

He scrambled to his feet and chased after him.

Not far away, the atmosphere could not have been more different.

Uchiha Madara sat rigidly, staring at the grilled fish Senju Hashirama had just placed in front of him.

"Hmph. Get that away from me." His face darkened.

He turned his head sharply. "I, Uchiha Madara, would rather starve to death than eat your food."

He slammed the table lightly with his palm.

"I get beaten half to death the moment I meet Kyuubi, scratched to death when I step outside by some orange cat and now you think a grilled fish will fix everything?"

Hashirama blinked. "…It's freshly grilled."

"I don't care!" Madara folded his arms, radiating pure indignation.

"I will not eat it."

From the side, someone muttered quietly: "…He'll eat it in five minutes."

"I heard that!!"
