Black Nen began to rise from the monkey's broken corpse.

Everything was unfolding exactly as Ronin had expected. At the same time, the four shadow clones he had sent out finally reached their limit and dispersed completely.

No chakra returned to him. The Yin Seal also snapped back into its sealed state the moment the Ant King died. Even so, Ronin still had more than half his chakra reserves left. In his eyes, that was more than enough to handle whatever came next.

The clones' disappearance meant the Four Violet Flames Formation lost its sustaining chakra. The flames burning across the monkey's body died out in seconds, and the purple barrier shattered into scattered fragments of light.

Post-mortem Nen began to surge rapidly.

The people who had been watching the monkey Chimera Ant burn to death against the purple barrier were still marveling at Ronin's strength when they suddenly saw the charred corpse slowly push itself up from the ground.

While it had been alive, the monkey had walked on two legs. Now it moved in a completely feral four-legged stance. Its burned and twisted face bared its teeth in a grotesque snarl. Its entire body was wrapped in pitch-black Nen that radiated deep malice and killing intent. In the next second, its figure vanished from where it stood.

Before anyone could fully process what they were seeing, a thunderous explosion rang out nearby.

Ronin had moved even faster. The instant the dead monkey lunged toward him, he launched himself forward and drove a fist straight into its post-mortem-Nen-wrapped corpse.

The gap in power between them was insurmountable.

The moment the dead monkey's body was smashed into the ground, the same thought flashed through everyone's minds.

Ronin's Sharingan gave him perfect insight into every move the corpse made. Even though post-mortem Nen had made the monkey stronger than it had been in life, its speed still wasn't enough to put any real pressure on him.

As a pure Enhancer, Ronin was unleashing the most straightforward Enhancement-type power he possessed. Using a force technique that surpassed even his Super Break Fist, he layered aura onto his fist and combined it with the devastating effect of Cherry Blossom Rush. The two stacked together, letting him strike with one hundred fifty percent of his full strength.

Post-mortem Nen hadn't granted the monkey any special Nen ability. It had only given it raw, powerful taijutsu. To Ronin, that was no different from running straight into a bullet.

As expected, the incomplete development that had weakened the Ant King was also visible in this relatively weaker Royal Guard.

The Four Symbols Seal spread directly from Ronin's hand into the dead monkey's body the moment he made contact. Under the seal's influence, the black Nen began visibly retracting back into the corpse at a speed the naked eye could follow.

The dead monkey's body trembled slightly as it struggled with everything it had left. That was all it could manage.

Ronin's hand clamped down like a vise, pinning the corpse firmly to the ground. By the time the sealing technique finished, the dead monkey lay completely motionless in the cracked earth.

Sealing jutsu really did work on post-mortem Nen.

Now the real questions were whether he could control the monkey with puppet threads once the seal was removed, and how he was going to preserve the body with the post-mortem Nen sealed away.

Ronin casually pulled out the Fun Fun Cloth. Under the stunned and shocked gazes of everyone watching, he wrapped up both the dead monkey's corpse and the shattered remains of the Ant King and stored them away without hesitation.

There was one thing he had been wondering about for a while.

Had there really only been a single Chimera Ant Queen inside this cave?

The thought had come from everything he knew about the Chimera Ants that had appeared in NGL. Was that colony really just a group that had drifted in from outside Lake Mobius and somehow washed up on NGL's shores by pure chance?

Ronin looked around the cave and felt deeply skeptical.

If he hadn't shown up, how would the mercenary group have handled the Chimera Ants here? According to the normal flow of events, these Ants never caused any major waves. At most, Vanessa might have ended up staying behind.

That was already Ronin assuming the worst-case scenario.

In other words, he was starting to suspect that the Chimera Ant colony in NGL had been deliberately released there by Beyond's people. And the source of those Ants… was right here in the Mahavi Ruins.

Ronin's gaze shifted toward the cliff behind the two giant trees.

The moment the three Chimera Ants were completely wiped out, the spiders gathered along that cliff began letting out shrill, piercing shrieks.

Benket's first thought was the golden throne.

When he saw Ronin looking toward the giant trees, he gritted his teeth and led his people straight toward the throne.

Ronin only glanced at them once before turning his full attention back to the two massive trees. In the midst of the spiders' shrieking, fruits finally began dropping from the branches.

The fruits that hit the ground split open, and scorpion-like monsters crawled out of them.

They were the same type of giant scorpions Ronin's group had encountered after entering the central passage—only these newly hatched ones were smaller. The moment they emerged from their eggs, they instinctively began crawling toward the nearest spider corpses.

Those spider bodies had been caught in the earlier fighting.

The scorpions reached the corpses and immediately began devouring them.

At the same time, a flood of spiders poured out from the cliff area. They completely ignored the two giant trees. Their eight compound eyes locked onto the newborn scorpions and Ronin's group in an instant. The people gathered near the golden throne became their primary targets.

Warning shrieks filled the cavern as the spiders charged up the cliff on their long legs.

Benket's team had already reached the golden throne. They split up and began trying to pry it loose from the ground, but quickly discovered it was fixed in place as if it had been welded there. When they dug around the base, they found the floor was as hard as solid steel. Even when Enhancers reinforced their shovels, every strike only produced a loud metallic clang.

Something was very wrong.

Everyone realized at once that the throne was far more than it appeared. But the spiders were already closing in.

Ronin's group had gathered near him—Maschur and Vanessa had moved to his side without a word. The three of them shared a silent understanding and began running toward the giant trees instead.

Benket noticed their movement. He was curious about the trees too, but in his mind their real value lay in research rather than raw profit. The golden throne's obvious importance made him decide to take the risk.

Several team members who had been holding back until now stepped forward again. They used the same ability that had helped the group cross the flying-ant swarm earlier—the conjured off-road vehicle.

At the same time, Colin and the other fighters who had been handling combat moved up to block the incoming spider swarm.
