I had finally woken up from my unplanned nap, and after that small incident my parents were now overprotective of me, and they didn't really allow me to go further away than, let's say, three feet from them, and whenever dad would try to do his magic trick, he made sure that I don't go anywhere else than by just being a good little boy who listened to his parents.
Of course, that wasn't going to be easy, because that's just not the person I am. I'm really not the rule-following type of person, and that wasn't because I was still a three-year-old baby, especially a boy who was fascinated by the outside world, cause this new home and world of mine was really one heck of a beautiful place. It literally fitted the description of a fantasy world that one may see in video games and even TV.
And all that strict and under-surveillance all started six months ago, cause that's when I had that encounter with that mysterious tree girl, and after that I don't remember seeing her anymore, or maybe she was there, I was just stubborn to pay that much attention to her, cause from time to time, maybe it happened once, I did feel someone looking at me, and the feeling they gave me was very uncomfortable. It was almost like the first one I felt the first time I came into this world.
And another thing, after my mom had performed such an unexplainable miracle in front of my eyes, curiosity had gotten the better of me. I mean, I've always been curious, but this time around it was worse, so I would often go around the house and search almost everywhere I can think of, even to the point of turning my parents' bedroom upside down. All I was looking for was the magic props, but I was unfortunate enough not to find them.
I guess if I couldn't find them anyway, my only thought of finding an explanation is that maybe they had hidden them somewhere they knew I wouldn't either reach or even think of looking at. It must have been because maybe they didn't want me to loose faith and belief in magic.
Yeah, that must have been the better explanation.
And I kept trying and trying to find those props.
Every chance I got, I would leave everything I was doing behind and focus on my curiosity and exploration.
Up until my mom finally caught me off guard.
I really don't know how that even happened. I was very careful, but I guess she must have been scared, because when she found me she was so relieved. As much as she wanted to scream and shout at me, she knew that she couldn't.
"Oh baby, what are you doing here all alone? You know I've been calling you and looking for you everywhere," mom said, as she was busy checking to make sure that I am fine.
"I'm okay, mommy," I tried to tell her, but she wasn't having it.
"What are you doing here?" She saw the clothes all over.
"I'm trying to find the magic props that you and dad had hidden for when you do your magic. I'm sorry, mommy. I know I should have asked first." My eyes sold the story that I was looking sad, but I wasn't really.
"Props?" Mom asked, as much as she tried to conceal her confusion, but she couldn't.
And I know why she did so, and it wasn't because I was looking for props, but her question in mind must have been, how does a three-year-old baby know about magic props?
She was obviously trying to piece together that puzzle, and I saw that, so I decided to distract her and make her forget about that.
"Is mommy mad at me?" I asked.
"What? Oh no, honey, mommy's not mad at you, it's just—" Then she stopped there.
"Sweetheart, let me let you in a little secret."
She came close to my ear, and she whispered, "Mommy and dad don't need props, because we can do magic on our own."
I didn't say it out loud, but from the way my eyes opened, I'm sure she knew that I was actually asking the obvious question.
"What?"
Then she took out her hand, and in the palm of her hand she made this tiny swirling wind that at first started off just like a tiny small tornado, but then it kept changing. Now it was a mother dancing with her son, then the husband came back from work, and I knew that was the three of us, because I remembered that memory very well.
It was the time that my dad had been gone for his work for almost a whole six months, and he surprised us by coming back. His job was more like the military of some sort.
So from that day that mom showed me what she could do, she had decided that it was time for me to know the truth about this world of ours, and I was so glad to learn that this was a world where magic was a possibility. I've never been so excited to learn about anything. Even in my previous life in school, I was really having a tough time.
I live in a small continent that is known to the other continents as Amilda, in a small countryside that's one of continent's small towns, but my town was called Fair Town. It was a town that was very popular amongst the people of the continent, and it was a town full of riches, and though it wasn't a rich place itself, but it was full of rich history.
From what my mom had taught me and from the books that she'd show me pictures of and not read to me, because I understand the book really had pretty messed up things, and when she'd showed me I saw the words, but she never bothered to read it to me.
But when she wasn't looking, I would steal the book and actually read it for my own self, and though the language wasn't the one that I was used to, I was able to make some of the few words.
My small town was famously known for the dangerous outskirts of the town called the Pride Lands. Apparently, from the book, it's a place where a couple of hundred children disappeared and have never been seen nor heard from in more than a hundred years, but most importantly it was a place that is believed to have the owner of those dark land caves.
And amongst all that disturbing information, there was also a part where I learnt about the other species that existed in this world, and also Amilda wasn't just the only continent. It was amongst the seven continents, of different kinds of species, with it being the continent of humans.
From that encyclopaedia I learnt the names of those species, and there were seven species just like the seven continents, and those species being Elves, Dwarfs, Fairies, Orcs, Frost people, and the last species of the last continent, who preferred to remain unknown, but their continent is called Bare Continent, and just like the normal continents, these continents also speak different languages.
But that wasn't the only thing. Mom also taught me about the currency of our continent, and it was a currency called the Ami currency. I guess it's called that because of its continent name, but the Ami currency was just gold, silver, and the lowest being the copper coin and the bronze coin.
And as for my small town, it wasn't really that advance. It was like the countryside, but it really had more to offer than its history. It had great fruits and vegetables, and lot of people were baking, fishing for different kinds of sea animals, even the ones that should have been left alone in the ocean, and it was the first town to ever come up with the idea of a market in the capital city of Amilda, an advanced city known as Bridge City, because of its out-of-this-world beauty, technology, and many more.
So that's how I learnt about my new world, and from time to time, when dad had sent money for us, mom would put me behind her back and we would go to the city, where I would see a lot of people, from children playing around and others running.
And for the stores, I would see different stores that sold different things, like for instance, only three stores stood out to me the most: the stores that sold wands for those who can't control their magic, the store that sold Grimoires for those who either can't perform their own spells and need to create new ones, and finally the one store that sold to what led me to be exposed into this magic world in the first place, a store that sold magical items, and they were a lot more than one would think.
And this was my new world, a beautiful and rich paradise, where nothing bad barely happened, but man, if I knew how wrong I was.
Because bad things were about to happen, and not only to me, but to the rest of the continents.
