As Jackie skillfully cooked breakfast, I sat quietly at the dining table, trying to calm myself. The air between us was still thick with the awkwardness from the previous night. I sighed, attempting to focus on something else, but my mind couldn't help but replay the events that had unfolded.
Jackie glanced back at me, offering a soft smile when he saw me sitting in silence, then unexpectedly asked, "Did you sleep well last night?"
A seemingly simple question, but my heart immediately raced. The question dragged me back to the memories of the night before—the moments filled with passion and desire, but also confusion and hesitation. I froze, feeling like I had been caught doing something wrong. My eyes darted around, unsure where to look, and I couldn't bring myself to answer normally.
"Uh… I… it was… okay," I stammered, feeling my face heat up. I lowered my gaze, avoiding Jackie's eyes, afraid he would see the embarrassment written all over my face.
