Chapter 60 - Challenging Dack

"What, you want to see Commander Dack?" Lin He was very surprised.

I nodded and said, "Yes, I have something to tell him. I hope you can improve your current situation."

"Alright, follow me!" Lin He didn't hesitate much and agreed directly. Perhaps he was also tired of this rebel life... The Golden Knights Order's camp was very large. Watching đội after đội of cavalry pass by, my heart was somewhat apprehensive. These were all NPCs originally, and a rough estimate put them at least in the tens of thousands. If players were to really attack, who knows how many people would die before this place could be flattened. Perhaps, even if all the players in Hurricane City died three times, they might not be able to deal with the Golden Knights Order.

The commander's tent was very large, and all the patrols outside were Golden Knights whose levels I couldn't see. I estimated them to be at least around level 37. Even I would struggle to solo such knights. How high-level a BOSS would Commander Dack inside be?

Lin He lifted the tent flap and turned to me, saying, "Go in, I've already had someone announce you."

I nodded and walked in. What met my eyes was a fully armored general, clad in shining deep blue and white armor. The golden sword at his waist gleamed with dazzling light. It looked like a super awesome weapon!

"You're looking for me?" Dack turned, not angry but with an air of authority. His face, with its distinct contours, showed a ruggedness. In his youth, he must have been a handsome man. The knife of time had carved resolute lines on his face. His tiger-like eyes revealed unyielding spirit, confidence, and sincerity, so bright and clear!

I replied, "Yes, I was entrusted by Captain Roger!"

"Hmph, Roger? Hasn't he been eliminated by the Undead Legion yet?" Dack's tone carried a hint of disdain.

"No, this time I came to obtain a token from the Commander, hoping to resolve the conflict between you and the Old King. After all, the Golden Knights Order was once the empire's primary combat legion. Now, the power of the Undead is constantly encroaching upon human territory, and the Kingdom needs the strength of the Golden Knights Order!"

"Haha, when they need me, they send a small fry to try and appease me? Is Old Man Carvin really old, has he become so muddled that he thinks I, Dack, am a fool?" Dack spoke with a self-mocking air.

I thought for a moment, then gritted my teeth and said, "Commander, I've heard a little about the matter between you and the Old King. I believe it's not irreconcilable. After all, the fate of all the subjects of the Kingdom rests in your and the Old King's hands. If the Golden Knights Order can rejoin the Kingdom's army, then the power to resist the Undead will be secured..."

Dack suddenly cut me off, "For his own selfish gain, Carvin sent his daughter to a desolate place like the Plague Graveyard. Misha was all alone in the graveyard. Do you know that feeling? It's despair! I risked losing hundreds of Golden Knights to break into the old house, but I didn't find Misha. She must have been killed... Those damned Undead!"

Dack clenched his fists, glaring at me through gritted teeth.

I immediately said with a serious expression, "Commander, I think you've misunderstood. Princess Misha... she isn't dead!"

"What? Misha... she's not dead?" A glimmer of hope appeared on Dack's almost despairing face.

"That's right, I was entrusted by Master Healer Lance to find the herbs to cure Princess Misha's plague in the mountains. Later, I found Princess Misha in the Plague Graveyard, and I've already sent her back to the Kingdom!"

Dack's sorrow turned to joy, and he laughed loudly: "Haha, it's Lance, that old fox! So he's not dead yet, he saved Misha, haha, he saved Misha!"

Suddenly, Dack stopped laughing, then drew his sword and pointed it at me, roaring, "You think you can fool me so easily? Back then, I searched the entire Plague Graveyard with over a thousand soldiers, and there was no trace of Princess Misha. Also, the accompanying court mages didn't detect any living presence. Misha must have already died!"

I was greatly alarmed and quickly explained, "That's because Misha's soul had already been extracted by the Undead Mage's dark mental magic, and her body was hidden in the basement of the old house. That's why the mages couldn't detect her presence. I found her in the basement and brought her back to the palace."

Dack's anger subsided a little, but he still said warily, "You, alone, were able to rescue the princess from such a large Undead camp?"

"Then how do you want me to prove I have that strength?"

Dack smiled, pointing at his greatsword and said, "As long as you can survive ten seconds under this sword, then I will believe your words!"

"Too arrogant, aren't you?" I secretly laughed, but still put on a serious expression and said, "Then let's begin!"

System message: Accept Dack's trial. If the player is still alive within 10 seconds, the trial is passed.

Time remaining: 10 seconds!

Time remaining: 9 seconds!

...When it counted down to 7 seconds, Dack launched his attack. The longsword struck like lightning. The next instant, my body was sent flying backward, and the system message brought me close to despair!

You suffered a fatal blow from Dack, losing 1420 HP!

Damn it, one sword hit me and left me with only 110 HP. It's really deadly!

I quickly pulled out the only large red potion in my inventory and shoved it into my mouth. 800 HP instantly recovered, so now I had 910 HP again. But I didn't have time to be happy, Dack's next sword was already upon me, and another 670 HP was gone, leaving my HP bar with only the last 240 points!

Oh my god, Dack's attack speed is too fast!

Ice flowers quickly gathered on the sword. When Dack struck his second blow, I finally made a move. Ice Seal Slash immediately swept out, and though Dack was lethally fierce, he was frozen on the spot!

An ordinary player in this situation would definitely hack at Dack a few more times, but I am a master, and a master among masters. I wouldn't bother with such underhanded tricks!

0.01 seconds later, I used a long-lost secret technique from the martial world, which was—

Fleeing for my life!

I ran out of the tent like crazy, not even daring to look back. The sound of wind came from behind; Dack had already broken free from the Ice Seal Slash's confinement and was chasing incredibly fast!

The system continued to prompt:

Time remaining: 3 seconds!

Time remaining: 2 seconds!

...Just in the last second, Dack's sword landed on my back. At the same time, the 8-second potion cooldown ended. After I took out and used a medium potion, the combat information clearly popped up:

You used a Healing Potion (Medium), HP restored by 485!

You were attacked by Dack, losing 710 HP!

My body feels a bit light.
