"That crystal..."
It definitely was that crystal. Genesis crystals activate when you pour blood on them and the fact that it stabbed him was enough to get all the blood it wanted.
"At least I am not dead. There is still hope for survival—"
"Wait a second. Since I am already inside this trial, what grade is it?"
There were various grades for trials. The first was Normal grade, the second was Rare grade, the third was Epic grade, the fourth was Supreme grade and the last was Extreme grade.
Usually when humans activate the Genesis Crystal they get a choice to choose the trial before entering it but he was already inside it.
Now he was a little concerned. These trials had different survival rates till now. Normal had an 80% survival rate, Rare had 50%, Epic had 30% survival rate, Supreme had 10% survival rate, and Extreme had none as no one had claimed to pass it.
These survival rates had been figured out by those who had announced their choices before entering the Genesis World.
Kael immediately called out for status inside his mind as once you are connected to Genesis you get one. Immediately a panel appeared in front of him showing his information.
.....
Name - Kael
Title -
Genesis Core - Unawakened
Genesis Trait -
Attributes - [Chosen One] [Fearless]
Bloodline - Human
Abilities -
Current State - In the process of taking his first Extreme Trial. Such a brave guy, truly living up to his attribute. Not many can even think of taking an Extreme Trial like him.
.....
A chill ran down Kael's spine as he read his current state. What the hell was it implying by fearless? He was just too resigned from his life to care about his well-being. It was not like he wanted to die right now.
No doubt some people who were confident in their abilities still picked the Extreme Trial but that was also because of its allure of passing.
The rewards gained from Genesis Trials depended on the difficulty of the trial.
Other rewards were superficial. The real reward was the power they got, also known as a Genesis Trait, once the Genesis Core awakened.
Those who had gone into Genesis Trials would always get a trait of a similar grade and it mattered a lot because your strength highly depended on what power you got.
Most humans were awakened with Normal Traits. Few have Rare Traits and very few have Epic traits. Epic traits were highly sought after in any organization.
Then came the Supreme Traits. He had only heard of four in the whole leftover human world. If there were others then they were not known in this world.
Lastly the Extreme Trait, definitely none. This was the reason some people who were confident tried to take the Extreme Trial. They could become the strongest in the world in terms of individual strength, but none returned from their trials to enjoy that title.
'Should I thank my luck that I am still alive or curse my luck as I am about to die'... Not to mention what the hell is Chosen One? Chosen one to die? He really wanted to cry but it would not change anything.
'Well no point in thinking too much, let's try to survive as much as I can'
He stood up and felt a little disoriented. Right now he was definitely occupying someone else's body.
Genesis Trials were like scenarios. No one knew if it was some past events or just an illusion to test humans. Everything inside this trial felt utterly real as far as he had heard.
After walking a few steps he was able to get the rhythm. The height of this body was a little smaller than his but he felt more strength in it.
'Now where should I go?' ...He was in the middle of a forest or something. There was no clue where the exit might be. Just as he thought that his eyes went to the ground.
There were freshly formed footprints on the lightly damp soil. It was pretty obvious whom they belonged to.
Now he had two choices, follow them and see where they led or just go in the opposite direction. Who knew if this guy was walking back from the forest? If that was the case then he would put himself in a nasty situation.
'Whatever, it will just extend my life anyway..'
Kael was sure that his life was already hanging by a thin thread. A small wind in an Extreme Trial could break it effortlessly.
In the end, he started retracing the footprints and walked through the dense foliage of the trees.
The most disturbing thing was that he could not sense any kind of life around him and that was a little chilling given how such a dense forest did not even have insects.
After a few minutes he finally heard a sound. It was the sound of flowing water. He sped up and came to a small stream river and when he saw it he instinctively took a step back.
The water was as clear as it could get and he could see the bottom of it easily and that was what made him tremble. The whole river was filled with skeletons and looking at their heads, they were all human skeletons.
'Is it a burial river or did they all really just get drowned or something?'..He really did not have a clue but it looked creepy.
He decided not to walk along the river bank and went back to trace the footprints.
.....
After an hour later Kael was standing on a cliff. It was not a steep cliff but the edge of a huge crater.
There was a steep walkway going down towards the bottom of the crater where he could see faint flickering lights.
He looked towards the setting sun and exhaled. In just an hour the day went from afternoon to evening. It seemed the day cycle here was small.
The crater was already blanketed in night with a little bit of haze covering it.
He looked one more time towards the river which passed just left of the crater and finally took a step on the winding path going downward.
Till now in this world he had only heard the sound of the river and wind and every second he felt that something was utterly wrong all around him.
