Chapter 45 - Chapter 45 : Departure

Time passed quietly, and a month vanished in the blink of an eye. Inside the laboratory located within the Undead Demigod Plane, Snow Empress was busy with a task. As Kong Mingan had requested, she was condensing the many Spirit Abilities she had mastered over her long life. She was turning them into Soul Skill Modules and placing them into spirit rings using a very special method. She was very good at this work now.

She reached out and skillfully grabbed a Soft Bones Rabbit. This rabbit had grown very fast, reaching a hundred years of cultivation in a short time because it had been fed divine blood. Without any hesitation, she twisted its neck to the right. A golden spirit ring slowly emerged from the body of the Soft Bones Rabbit. Holding the spirit ring in her hand, Snow Empress placed it into a ring-shaped spirit tool that was sitting nearby. She pressed a small button, and a moment later, a clean and blank spirit ring was freshly produced from the machine.

The power of ultimate ice and snow began to glow at her fingertips. Snow Empress started to condense one of her most famous techniques, the Emperor Sword: Ice Extreme Unrivaled, into a Soul Skill Module within the blank spirit ring. She did not mind doing this work at all. Every time she finished a module, the information was recorded by the contract that connected her to Kong Mingan. The value of her work was clearly marked and saved. To be honest, this feeling of getting a fair return for every bit of effort she put in was truly addictive to her.

Watching her accumulated value grow made her happy. She felt she was getting closer and closer to her goal. A sense of pride and accomplishment rose in her heart as she worked. She carefully built the Soul Skill Module bit by bit. Her gaze was calm, but her attention was still drawn to the figure working at the desk not far away. Over the past month, she had stayed by his side as his close personal guard. Because of this, she was the person most aware of the changes happening to him.

She noticed a strange and strong energy coming from the young man. This energy felt like it was on a very high level, and it became more intense and clearer as time went on. This feeling was not like being emotionally dependent on him. Instead, it was like a natural resonance.

It was as if two very pure energies of the same frequency were trying to match each other. This made her feel more and more like Kong Mingan was the same kind of being as her. However, Kong Mingan never admitted to this. She stopped asking him about it, thinking that he was just trying to hide a secret.

So, she continued to work on the Soul Skill Modules. Sometimes she would rest her hand on the armrest and prop her chin in her palm, watching him silently. Her ice-blue eyes held a hint of tenderness as they reflected Kong Mingan. He was completely lost in his research, and the scene felt strangely peaceful to her. She thought to herself that if he truly were a human, he would probably be the most unique one she had ever met.

On the other side of the room, Kong Mingan was finishing his own experiment. He was working on something he called Elementalization. With a slight thought, a faint silver glow began to flow beneath the skin of his raised arm.

The look of his arm started to change, becoming somewhat illusory. The space around his arm began to ripple in circles like water. At this moment, Kong Mingan seemed to have become a being made of spatial elements. He was merging with the space around him, and his body looked like a ghost.

He felt his own condition and frowned slightly. He was not entirely satisfied with the result. His version of Elementalization was very different from the innate ability of the Snow Empress. She could merge with ice elements naturally and instinctively. In the right environment, she was almost immune to physical attacks and energy attacks without even trying. His version was different. He was forcibly changing his body structure into elements using absolute control. This method had many flaws.

For example, he could not become completely immune to damage. He could only weaken attacks that were of the same or weaker attribute as him. Also, he had to focus hard to keep the ability active. It used up a lot of his energy and was not a passive skill like hers. In short, the ability had a lot of potential for the future, but right now it was only in the early stages. It needed a lot of work and improvement.

He thought to himself that flesh and blood are still flesh and blood. Trying to turn them into elements was very troublesome. He realized he might need to start from other areas first. He wondered if he should focus on Qi and Blood transformation of the body. Kong Mingan thought about this for a while and then stopped the Elementalization.

He recorded all the data from the experiment and saved it. Even though he was not perfectly happy, he was not disappointed. He knew that things must happen step by step. Trying to do everything at once was never a good idea.

He stood up and took out another document from his desk. This was a collection of notes and ideas from Kong Deming. It was about the Body Cultivator system and different theories they had talked about after a recent battle. This knowledge was very valuable to him.

However, the notes from Kong Deming were very messy and covered too many topics. They needed to be organized properly. Recently, Kong Deming had been very busy with his own research on his Natal spirit tool. He was working hard to become a Level 10 Soul Engineer. Because of that, Kong Mingan took over this part of the research.

He believed that building a whole new system could never be done by just one person. It was better to use the ideas of many people and work together to explore the truth. He put all the papers into his Storage Ring. He planned to organize them when he had small bits of free time in the future. After he made sure everything was packed, Kong Mingan looked over at Snow Empress. She understood his look and stood up to follow him. She was his guard, so staying close to him was just part of her job.

When they left the laboratory, they met Meng Hongchen and Xu Tianzhen. The two girls had come to say goodbye. Meng Hongchen looked at Snow Empress, who looked very cool and beautiful standing behind Kong Mingan. She felt a little bit helpless. It was not really jealousy. A few days ago, Kong Mingan had told her who Snow Empress really was.

He explained the contract they had and why she was acting as his guard. But Meng Hongchen still felt a bit annoyed. He had gone out for a few days and came back with a Spirit Beast. She wondered what was going on. Now she felt she had to worry about people and Spirit Beasts too.

Miss Meng felt a bit of a crisis in her heart. However, she looked up at Kong Mingan and sighed. She told him earnestly to remember to be careful. Kong Mingan looked at her and said he thought she would want to come along with him. She shook her head and said it was better this way. She was not even a Spirit Ancestor yet, so there was no point in going. She joked that next time, he could be her support Spirit Master and they would go on a rampage together. She did not show too much sadness about him leaving.

Kong Mingan remained silent for a moment. He thought about it and then moved closer to her. Meng Hongchen was surprised, but then she felt him gently hold her hand. She looked down and saw him placing a small, silver metal piece in her palm. It had complex spatial runes carved on it. He explained in a low voice that it was a spatial beacon. He told her that if there was an emergency or if she just wanted to find him, she could use it in the demigod plane to teleport to his side.

Meng Hongchen blinked and then looked at him with a little smile. She teased him by asking if he just couldn't bear to be away from her. He simply replied that he felt that way moderately. She made a small sound with her tongue and called him stubborn, but she was clearly happy. The corners of her mouth curved up into a smile. She carefully put the metal piece away. The look in her blue eyes became serious and soft. She told him that she would wait for him to come back. He nodded and said yes.

Xu Tianzhen watched all of this quietly from the side. She looked back and forth between Kong Mingan, Meng Hongchen, and Snow Empress. She sighed to herself. It seemed like Miss Meng had a very big lead in her relationship with him. If things kept going like this, Xu Tianzhen felt like she would end up being the junior one in the group.

She even imagined a future where she would have to help them by giving them medicine or tonics when they were tired. She decided that she absolutely did not want that kind of future. She told herself she had to find a way to catch up and get ahead of them. She was suddenly filled with a lot of energy and spirit.

Snow Empress watched the emotions changing between the humans. She felt a bit confused. Her pure ice-blue eyes showed that she did not understand what was happening. She could not yet understand the complex relationships between these people.

This strange atmosphere created by human emotions was something very new to her. She thought that human feelings were truly hard to understand. She shook her head slightly. Kong Mingan had finished talking to everyone and did not want to wait any longer. The two of them stepped into a grey door that opened quietly in the air. They disappeared into the ripples of space and were gone.
