Phew… I am glad that I managed to subjugate the black snake without causing a lot of damage. I looked at Mia who was glaring toward my direction with a small hint of anger.
I smiled, trying to ease her anger. But it only managed to fuel her emotion even more as she turned around.
I let out a short sigh.
"Did my charm run out?" I muttered as I ran across my face. I knew I was handsome. I took it back, I am the handsomest man in this world.
Every woman I met, they always wanted to get close to me. I tried not to let that enter my head. I was definitely not proud of my look at all.
"Doesn't seem like it." Ves said in my head.
I tossed his words to the side and walked over to Mia. She was a strong woman, probably among the top tier. I don't know, because of my current body, I can't judge the people quite well.
Unless Ves established the connection, I was the same as the regular people.
"Sorry about that." I said. "This little guy needs more discipline."
Mia shot a glance at the snake and turned around again. She then pointed somewhere behind me. I turned around and followed the finger.
There was a hole in my room. Well, I tried to control the damage but I didn't think the snake would throw me outside with its tail.
"Oh. I guess I need to talk to the headmaster about that." I said. "In the meantime, I think I will have to stay in your room. Can't I?"
I decided to tease her, trying to see if my charm would work for her.
It didn't work as she flew away from me without giving a reply.
"Yep. She is definitely into you." Ves said.
"What? No. Look at her. And how did you know much about human relationships?" I said. "I am lucky I didn't get a slap."
"I was once the best wingman in the universe so I knew about your kind."
"Yeah. Yeah." I said, lazily.
I placed the black snake around my shoulder and walked away from the grass field. Since my room was now destroyed, I decided to stay in my office.
I took out the compass and followed the needle. After walking for an unimaginable time in the academy, I arrived at my office.
There was my name etched on the wall, plainly. He opened the door and entered it.
The room was similar to the headmaster's one, although it was a little smaller. There was a window.
I walked over and opened it, letting the wind fly.
I put the black snake on the chair and sat on my own personal chair. It was a comfortable one. The cushion was soft like a cloud and swallowed me whole.
Yeah, I am not going to sit up from this.
I tapped my ring and manipulated the mana spark it released. I made it into a string and threw it on the nearby bookshelf. I pulled back and the book landed on me.
I looked at the cover and nodded. It was not some generic testbook. I specifically said I don't want such things in my room.
Guess, they listened.
The book was called Apocalypse Demon. I saw that title a lot in the bookstore and hadn't read it yet. I opened and read it.
Time passes fast when you are wasting your time.
Knock. Knock.
I closed the book and looked up. I saw the snake still sleeping on the nearby chair. "Guess, I put too much pressure on his core."
I looked at the door and said, "Enter."
The door opened and an old man slowly walked inside. It was River. He brought a stack of paper with him.
"What are those?" I asked.
"Miss Mia gave it to me on my way to your room." River said, placing the papers on my desk and gave a graceful bow to me.
I flipped through the paper and saw that it was about the students I will be teaching. There were about 30 students.
I nodded. "I need to thank her for that."
"I suggest you do it right away, Sir." River said, not looking up from his bow.
"Why?"
"She is a bit angry." River said.
I nodded with a smile. "I see. But I don't know what she liked. Gather information about her. Not in a creepy way."
"I understand." River said and vanished into the floor.
I placed my fantasy book to the side and started reading the paper. I wrote a little work on the individual paper and nodded.
After reviewing all the students in my class, I made a list of potential main protagonists. But I also needed to see other classes. Guess, I will make that after finding out about my students.
Wait. I stopped and smiled as an inspiration struck me.
I let out a chuckle. Why didn't I think of that? The best way to find the protagonist.
Follow the cliche I am familiar with.
The academy officially started next week. I still had a lot of time to prepare.
I walked over and lay on my chair, resting my eyes. Unknowingly, sleep took over me.
I woke up with the morning sun shining over my face. I rubbed my eyes and stood up.
"Ouch." I grabbed my back, giving a light beating and let out a cough. Sleeping here was worse than I thought.
I stood up and stretched my body. I need to change my clothes. I then heard a growl in my stomach. I rubbed my stomach and added eating to my list.
But first, I needed a shower.
As there was no shower in my office, I decided to go to my dorm room. I supposed I could at least use that one.
It didn't take long for me to arrive. After selecting my clothes, I entered the shower and found that the water didn't work.
"That is a bummer." I muttered and let out a sigh.
I picked up my clothes and left my room. On the way, I found a group of men coming up. I stopped one and asked.
"Did you guys stop the water?" I asked.
The man nodded. "Since we are repairing the room, we don't want to accidentally let the water go out."
I nodded and left. Where should I take a shower? I could take a random room and shower there but I don't want to be that rude.
Since I will be an instructor in this academy, it is better to be friendly with the others.
I remembered Mia and nodded.
I took out the compass and found Mia's room. Oh, her door was decorated nicely. Her name hung on the wall.
Mia Rifty.
I hadn't heard about the name Rifty. Is she a lower noble born? I shook her head and knocked on the door.
There was no answer. Is she not there?
I knocked again this time a bit louder. Yep, she was there as I heard a rustle coming behind the door.
"Wait. Wait."
I stepped back a little and the door opened and she peered out from the gap. She saw me.
Her black hair was floating down. I must say, she looked really good with her natural hair style.
A visible frown appeared on her face.
"What?" She asked.
I lifted up her clothes and said, "I am sorry for dropping all the work on you. But as you know, my room is currently under maintenance so I can't access the water. Can I shower at your place?"
"What? No." She closed the door.
"It was a good try." Ves said with a chuckle.
I shook her head and knocked again.
She opened abruptly.
"Please." I put on puppy eyes, fully working my charm.
Her eyes twitched. She then let out a sigh and opened the door. I smiled and thanked her.
"Thanks. I will not forget this kindness."
She slammed the door.
I turned around and saw her in full. She wore a purple pajama. Her face lacked makeup and because of that her natural beauty shined even more.
"This is not kindness. It is a deal." She asked, crossing her arms.
"What sort of deal?" I asked.
"I want you to work my paperwork for a week." She said, smiling. Her smirk was also cute.
I thought for a moment and nodded. "I will do it but let's change our deal a little bit."
I was thinking about asking her to let me sleep in the place but decided against it. It was rude and I had to think about her image.
"What do you want to add?"
"I want to read here." I said. "Reading in my office hurt my back a lot."
She paused and slowly nodded. "Sure. But don't mess around with my place. I will throw you out."
"Of course." I smiled. "Where is the bathroom?"
She pointed.
I walked and took a long shower. The shower was filled with various shampoo and stuff. I don't even know half of the contents.
What I knew was that the shower smelled nice. I felt refreshed.
I entered the living room and found Mia, laying on her couch with her book. She wore a glass and read it. She didn't even seem to register me.
I nodded with a smile and left the room.
Time for the plan to start.
"How are you going to find the protagonist?" Ves asked.
"Oh, it is simple. I decided to give them the test." I said.
"But first, I need to eat."
I walked to the canteen. The canteen was it own building. The ground floor was for the students and the upper floor was where the instructor like me stayed.
I climbed the stairs. Seriously, I don't think I can take another stairs anymore.
The upper floor was devoid of people. I ordered a meal and ate quietly.
