POV: Draco
He feels her pain through the bond — and it's destroying him.
The rope is in my hands and my boots are against the chasm wall and I'm moving down as fast as I can move without losing control of the descent, and it still feels like standing still.
The bond has been doing this since she went over the edge. Feeding me everything whether I want it or not — her pain, which is real and sharp and coming from multiple places in her body, her fear, which spiked enormous when she was falling and has since settled into something tighter and more controlled but hasn't gone away, and underneath both of those things her desperation, the specific texture of it telling me that she's looking at Kai bleeding and she is scared in a way that has nothing to do with herself.
That last part is the one doing the most damage on the way down.
