POV: Aphrodite
Ruins lie where oaths once stood.
We find them mid-morning, tucked into a fold of the valley where two slopes meet and the ground levels out into a platform of old stone. I almost walked past them because they don't look like ruins at first — they look like a particularly dense cluster of large rocks, the kind that geography produces without help. But Kai slows when we reach them and starts reading the shapes of things the way he reads everything, and I slow with him, and then I see what he's seeing.
