Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: He Only Needs to Stand There

It turns out that not everyone who is good-looking is suited for women's clothing.

Gin had a slender build, pale skin, and smooth, long pale-golden hair that didn't even need a wig; from behind, he was a textbook beauty. However, his features were far too sharp. He had plenty of elegance but lacked softness. Even when forced into a maid outfit, his icy aura suggested he could pull a Gatling gun from under his skirt at any moment to mow down anyone who stared too long. It was very easy to sense the dissonance in his "femininity."

"I told you, I can't do this." Gin refused to look at himself in the mirror. His cold, hard expression created a hilarious contrast with the lace headpiece and the cute dress, making the other two struggle to stifle their laughter.

Vermouth was clearly a bit disappointed, but Gojo knew when to quit while he was ahead. After all, he just wanted to tease Gin for his earlier schadenfreude.

Oh? You're wondering why Gin agreed to wear it at all?

The answer was simple. As the Workaholic's closest roommate, Gojo had long noticed his persistent struggle: how to wash that hair without wasting half a day, while keeping it clean and natural. As his hair grew longer over the years, Gin's burden grew heavier. It would be a rather pathetic end for a heartless assassin to be ambushed and killed while painstakingly scrubbing his hair.

One might ask: Why doesn't he just cut it short? Doesn't long hair get in the way during a fight? Like Mikasa from Attack on Titan, who used to have beautiful black hair but kept it short for combat efficiency. Gojo had suggested this long ago, but "loving his flowing hair" seemed to be part of Gin's factory settings; he refused to change it.

Coincidentally, while Gojo was browsing the randomly refreshed items in the System Mall a few days ago, he found a "Rapunzel's Worry-Free Shampoo" that promised perfect hair with just a drop. It wasn't expensive—only 500 Impression Points.

Gin volunteered to wear the dress solely for that bottle of magical shampoo. And Gojo didn't lie; System-produced items were always premium quality.

"It's okay~ Even if you aren't as pretty as this Young Master—I mean, Young Lady—there will still be plenty of fools trying to hit on you out there."

"...Who cares."

Just as Gin was about to pull the dress off in annoyance, Gojo suddenly lunged forward, grabbed his shoulder, and pulled out an Organization flip-phone from nowhere. Setting it to selfie mode, he flashed a peace sign with lightning speed.

"Yay~ Cheese!"

An SSR-tier legendary scene like this definitely deserved to be recorded!

Click. Gojo looked at the photo. A pure-looking girl with white hair and blue eyes tilted her head against a cold, blonde beauty in a maid outfit, making a playful gesture like a Japanese JK. If there was anything out of place, it was the blonde's expression of pure shock and shame.

Besties sticking together. Nice.

"Delete it. Now!" Gin viewed this photo as his ultimate dark history. He glared at Gojo and reached for the phone held high above his head, only to be thwarted by the height difference.

"Haha, can't reach! Don't worry, Gin, I'll treasure this even ten years from now—Hey! Don't pull my wig!"

"Shut up. If you don't delete it, I'll make sure you don't live to see ten years from now."

"Won't delete it, won't delete it, won't delete it! Bite me!"

Watching the heartwarming (?) scene of the two bickering, Vermouth couldn't resist secretly pulling out her own phone to snap a picture.

I didn't expect Kurosawa Jin to have such a lively side. Back at the Organization's orphanage, he was always a loner... Is it Little Satoru who changed him? This child... truly incredible.

She hit save, a persistent smile playing on her lips.

Finally, Saturday arrived. The mission to assassinate the pervert Ben Hermann officially began.

The host was the famous Casino Mafia family, and the venue was a luxury estate under their name. Many Italian socialites were invited, most of whom were interested in collaborating with the Casino family. The banquet started at 7:00 PM.

As dusk fell, Vermouth finished her preparations and drove Gojo and Gin toward the destination. Gojo was disguised as the key player of the night: Hayley Grace. Gin served as his partner-in-action. Since he couldn't pull off being a maid, he was brought along as Hayley's male companion—publicly introduced as the son of a friend of Lady Grace. To make the act convincing, they had spent the last few days practicing ballroom dancing.

"So, Satoru... I should call you Hayley now," said Vermouth, disguised as a plump, wealthy woman. "Hayley, how is the dancing coming along?"

"Taking third place in the world shouldn't be a problem~" Gojo's casual tone made it sound like he wasn't joking. He didn't mention the part where he purposefully stepped on Gin's feet despite being perfectly capable of dancing well.

"I trust your abilities. But... I haven't asked yet. How do you plan to get close to Hermann? Do you have a specific plan?" Vermouth asked curiously. Since this mission was Gojo's bargaining chip for her disguise secrets, she didn't want to interfere too much.

"A plan? I don't have one." Gojo stretched, a movement so large it had absolutely nothing to do with being a lady.

"No plan?" Anyone hearing this would feel a bit uneasy.

"Yeah. There's no need for me to think about stuff like that."

The conversation ended as they reached the venue. Looking through the tinted windows, a large crowd had already gathered at the entrance of the Casino estate. After checking invitations, guards allowed guests to enter.

As Vermouth's luxury sedan pulled up, the door was opened by Gin, dressed in a sharp suit. Today, his long hair was tied back, and his bangs were swept up. His noble aura led many guests to speculate which prominent family this young gentleman belonged to.

Next was Lady Grace's debut. Helped out of the car by Gin, she wore a red gown and looked kind and harmless—though her features hinted at the remnants of a great beauty. Many guests who knew her greeted her warmly.

Then, Gin reached his hand toward the back seat. There was one more guest.

"Lady Grace, who is that...?"

The moment a slender, jade-like hand emerged from the car, the air seemed to freeze. She placed her hand lightly on Gin's arm and stepped out.

The silver-haired girl had an incredible presence. Her hair was draped over her shoulders, adorned with a few pearl ornaments. Her royal blue evening gown suited her perfectly. Even though she was young and hadn't fully matured, her features were already flawless. The hem of her skirt swayed gently with her steps, highlighting her skin, which was as fair as cream.

She had azure eyes that seemed to see through people's hearts, framed by snow-white lashes like butterfly wings. The corners of her eyes tilted up slightly, carrying a hint of arrogance. Faced with the collective gaze of the crowd, the girl didn't panic; she simply nodded slightly and walked elegantly toward Lady Grace.

"This is my adopted daughter, Hayley Grace."

After a brief silence, the scene buzzed with renewed energy. The topic, inevitably, centered on Lady Grace's daughter.

"She is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. She'll be legendary when she grows up."

"I wonder which lucky boy will win her heart one day."

"The face is a treasure from God... but the figure... Flat as an 'A', I'll pass."

"Bah, look at you being picky!"

"She reminds me of Sharon Vineyard in her youth."

Hayley Grace seemed oblivious to the discussion—or perhaps she simply didn't care. Meanwhile, Lady Grace—Vermouth—was busy with social pleasantries when she sensed a gaze so intense it felt physical.

It wasn't directed at her, but at Gojo. Vermouth glanced over.

The man was surrounded by a large group of bodyguards, but even they couldn't hide his thinly veiled greed. However, the moment their eyes met, that skin-crawling greed vanished, replaced by a polite, gentle nod. She knew his face all too well: it was the mission target who had been giving her a headache, Ben Hermann.

She suddenly understood why Gojo said he didn't need a plan. He didn't need to approach the target.

A naturally dazzling treasure never has to worry about not being coveted.

He only needs to stand there... and it's enough.
