Perspective: Kyle Witt
Alcohol truly is a man's best friend and worst enemy, Kyle groaned as the world just kept spinning and spinning, even opening his eyes, blinding white light with weird jagged edges floods in, ''Fuck!'' He clutched his head as a headache struck his brain like a sledgehammer. ''You know. Time dilation and spatial transcendence can leave you feeling quite bad. I remember my first rodeo.'' A voice came from close by, so suddenly Kyle immediately jolted awake and forcefully opened his eyes. A silhouette was visible, but no facial features or other identifiers were visible. ''Who are you! And why are you in my house!'' Kyle quickly steadied himself and started walking towards the silhouette. ''Your house is not yet built, nor am I intruding upon your property. We are currently in the 13th Dimension that will stretch and squeeze us back to timeline 19432 in your calendar year of 1927.'' The sihloet stated plainly.
Kyle just looked confused and stopped moving, trying to see anything, but all is white, even what he stands on is nothing but white. ''You agreed to our recruitment at the bar yesterday, and the contract stated that employment would initiate upon signing. Now, I am not heartless, so before sending you off, I ensured you have some essentials, a good start, and a copy of the contract. You have until the end of your 2000 calendar year to finish the contract; otherwise, we will consider it void, and you will be erased, as stated in subclause 87.2. The Confederation sincerely thanks you for your commitment and labour, remember we have no paid leave!'' The silhouette vanished with this statement as he chuckled, and before Kyle could even comprehend, compute, or understand, he was whisked away and fell unconscious again.
Kyle grogily stood up and looked around, 'My hands are still attached, so is my head' Kyle analysed his situation, from a historian working at a museum, to this is a shift to be comprehended. Looking around, he sees that he is not in a shabby room but quite luxurious, even. On the table are multiple items, but the golden contract is what draws his attention the most. As he lifts it and reads its contents, it unfurls into a meter-long piece of paper. 'Employment contract for Kyle Witt, ' it reads, and upon delving into the details, Kyle Witt's face changes from anger to joy to worry to revelation as an hour passes. ''This is easier said than done... A whisper escaped his mouth as he rolled up the contract, after which it turned into dust and entered his body.
Understanding his situation, he glances at the other items, ''A heavy-duty trenchcoat, boots, leather and fur clothing, a cap and gloves, all made of leather-like materials seem normal enough.'' Kyle mutters as he moves to the more interesting suitcase, with no lock to open, yet as he touches the handle, it opens automatically, with small trays folding outwards. ''Diamonds, Gold, Swiss Francs, a weird-looking P38 Walter pistol with magazines, identification documents and a variety of blueprints...'' Kyle took a detailed look through the suitcase only to find these items, grabbed the pistol and clothing, and changed while putting the identification documents on the table.
As Kyle was shifting through the materials, he rationalised that he was too calm, everything seemed to be normal, yet he couldn't comprehend that he should be in hysteria or otherwise be in complete doubt. Suspicion arose in his eyes as his brows furrowed, materialising the contract he finally uncovers that the first year, a hormonal and chemical solution was injected to stabilise his emotional state, to ensure a smooth transition and allow rational thought to prioritise over emotional outbursts. As this realisation dawns on him, a knock comes from the door, ''Sir, it's me, Billy. Two guests from the Genevan Canton [1]have arrived as requested yesterday, should I let your chauffeur, Delta seat them in the saloon?'' A man dressed in standard butler attire gently informed Kyle through the door. ''Please do, Billy. I will entertain the guests in a moment,'' Kyle stated as calmly as possible.
Orienting himself, Kyle dressed in the provided attire, except for the trenchcoat, which felt almost like blasphemy. Still, the sensation quickly wore off as he headed into the Water Closet (W.C.) to inspect his facial features, finding them to be identical: amber eyes, dark blond hair, and one meter ninety-five centimetres tall. 'At least this stayed the same...' Kyle lamented in silence as he styled his hair and quickly skimmed over the document explaining the current situation of this Kyle Witt in 1928; 'Historian and Local College professor... lives near Geneva in a small castle... eccentric and focused on military history... connections in local canton... unmarried... Billy the Butler is a distant Cousin... Delta is the chauffeur and bodyguard, a former German Soldier who fled the war ... Is secretly and illegally in possession of many firearms... recently hired Chef Prince has tipped off the Authorities...' As Kyle understood his situation, the current entertaining of guests has turned into having to hide guns, which he doesn't even know where they are! Immediately, he puts the modified Walter P38 back into the suitcase and rings the bell to call Billy over again to inform him of the next steps.
Having gathered his bearings, Kyle confidently stepped out of the room to wait for Billy, after which he needed to deal with a potential shitstorm or survive and continue a happy existence. 'I need to know the locations of the firearms, I would presume Billy would know... but what if he doesn't? Maybe Delta since he was a former soldier...' Kyle was starting to second guess and regretting skilling the document instead of being more thorough, yet no regret can be made as billy has already arrived hearing his footsteps on the creaking floorboards. ''Bill... Who are you!''
[1] A Swiss canton is one of the 26 semi-autonomous states that form the Swiss Confederation, functioning like individual states in a federal system, each with its own constitution, government (legislature, executive, judiciary), and significant power over local laws, taxes, education, and healthcare, though with shared sovereignty with the federal government.
