Two days later, Kelvin sat in the Hort family's living room, waiting for Lady Hort to come downstairs.
He had scheduled the visit the previous day, and she had agreed to remain at the mansion until he arrived.
Although Kelvin had deliberately avoided telling her the reason for his visit, he had spent most of the night thinking about the questions he intended to ask.
Just then, his phone buzzed with an incoming call.
Kelvin glanced at the screen and saw that it was his grandmother. He immediately swiped the answer button and lifted the phone to his ear.
"Grandma," he called gently.
"What's going on?" the old lady asked, concern evident in her voice.
She had just finished the board meeting scheduled for that morning and had returned to her office when she noticed several missed calls on her phone.
What surprised her was that every single one of them had come from the same person.
Kelvin Thorne.
