Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Survival Planning in the Red Rain

"Unfortunately, you've already bound the auxiliary artifact," Hope said, her voice calm yet slightly ruthless. "After evolution, you'll only gain fixed healing abilities. You won't obtain overwhelming combat power or deadly skills."

Chen Yi's heart sank. What? Isn't this torture? With my current charm… if all I can do is heal, I'd probably get snatched by some overbearing woman and trapped as her personal toy!

And it wasn't just any world—it was a woman-first world with almost no legal order. Chen Yi shuddered at the mental image: an extremely tragic fate, being bullied to the point of becoming… feminine.

"Sorry… I can't change that," Hope continued. "I can only help you become the most perfect man in the world."

Chen Yi clenched his teeth. Forget it, forget it… I'll figure it out myself.

He scooped Sister Meow into his arms, holding her sideways. Her pretty little face turned a soft shade of red. A single crystal droplet glimmered at the corner of her lips, and a tiny dimple appeared on her flushed cheek.

"Meow… what are you thinking?" Chen Yi asked, gently pinching her tender face. He had a sudden thought: This little sister… she's not entirely innocent.

"Brother… if the end of the world really comes… what will we do?" Li Miao'er asked, hugging Chen Yi's neck. Her cheeks were tinged pink as she buried her face in his warm embrace, rubbing gently.

"Hey, Meow… the end of the world is coming soon," Chen Yi said softly, stroking her silky hair. Such a cute, well-behaved sister… I cannot let her get hurt.

He paused, then continued with a serious tone: "Anyone drenched in the blood rain will become a zombie in two hours. These aren't your ordinary movie zombies—they're far stronger."

Li Miao'er lifted her head, her clear black eyes wide with disbelief. It can't be true… can I really do what I want?

Chen Yi stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Meow… send a message to our classmates and friends. Tell them to avoid this blood rain."

"Brother… people never believe doomsday warnings. This isn't the first time it's happened," Li Miao'er said, pouting slightly.

"Doesn't matter if they believe it. Use my account to send the message. After that, I'll make you some delicious cold noodles," Chen Yi said, standing and handing her his phone.

Better to use my social account—it's more convincing. After all, he was known as the "Ice and Snow Male God," rarely seen, with charm that drew attention from countless admirers.

"Oh, brother… I need extra chili in my noodles," Li Miao'er muttered, reluctantly taking the phone. She didn't want to help those women who might try to steal her brother. Better they go play in the red rain if they dare.

"Meow… download your favorite movies and novels. Fully charge your power bank and computer," Chen Yi instructed, moving toward the balcony.

He looked out at the city. The buildings glowed warmly in the distance. The scent of blood lingered in the air. People ran through the rain, oblivious to the danger.

39 degrees today… summer heat… so many people outside, enjoying the night… how many will become zombies?

Chen Yi frowned. Power outages would come soon. Summer consumption, unmanned power stations, unmaintained grids—hard to say how long electricity would last.

We need a safe place, away from crowds, stocked with essentials—generators, seeds, medicine. Most importantly, Meower must evolve first.

Leaning against the glass door, Chen Yi reflected: Piaoxue Town had over a million residents and was geographically nice… but a small team couldn't survive here. Zombies could easily surround them. Moving, building a safe base, recruiting loyal subordinates—that's the only way to survive.

I won't join someone else's team. With his looks and talent, taking refuge with strangers would be like a lamb offering itself to a tiger.

Forget it. Let's eat first. I'm dizzy from hunger. I barely ate this morning and at noon.

Chen Yi stood and stretched.

Oops.

Darkness flashed before his eyes; he swayed, almost falling backward.

This body is weak… I need a physical strengthening agent ASAP.

Shaking his head, he walked to the kitchen.

He poured water into the pot and brought it to a boil. Then he grabbed two ripe tomatoes, two long cucumbers, small greens, and some shrimp. He cut the tomatoes and cucumbers into even strips.

A small porcelain bowl held his sauce—a perfect blend of six seasonings, including aged vinegar, secret chili oil, and lemon juice.

The refrigerator was stocked with more than ten catties of noodles—he'd need to finish them quickly. He washed a tomato, stood by the pot, and snacked while waiting for the water to boil.

Once the noodles and shrimp were cooked, he mixed everything with the sauce and vegetables.

I can't wait to eat cold noodles.

Should I send it out? Chen Yi paused. They probably won't believe me… maybe better not to.

Li Miao'er lay on the bed, pouting. Her black jewel-like eyes flickered, and her white jade-like feet tapped nervously. Sweat glistened on her palms as she pressed the phone—undecided.

Better to send the message. Whether they believe it or not… if they die, it's not my fault.

Li Miao'er slammed her fist lightly on the pillow, then chose the moral path. She edited a warning about the disaster, sent it via Chen Yi's account to their classmates and friends, and pinned it at the top of her personal space.

Ding dong.

"These annoying women…" Li Miao'er muttered, setting her phone to do-not-disturb and uninstalling all social apps.

I'm so glad I don't have to go to school anymore.

The online world was in chaos. People who had encountered blood rain spread the news, and others, believing it, began looting—supplies, men, money. At the brink of survival, their deepest evil surfaced.

"Meow… come and eat soon."

Chen Yi brought two large plates of brightly colored cold noodles to the living room, opening two bottles of ice-cold Coke.

Gudu-gudu. He took a big gulp, hiccuping in satisfaction. It was—perfect.
