Chapter 23 - Chapter 23/4 – The “Sung Good Morning” Tradition

Chapter 23/1 – The "Sung Good Morning" Tradition

Every morning, before even opening their eyes, the children shout from the dormitory:

"GOOOOD MOOOORNING MOMMY LYS!"

She answers from the hallway, still in her nightgown:

"GOOOOD MOOOORNING MY EIGHT LITTLE SUNSHINES!"

Mirella and Graciela joined in the fun:

Mirella, in her elven voice: "Good morning, my little archers!"

Graciela, hoarse voice: "Good morning, you little pests who are going to eat everything I cook today!"

Then a war of loving shouts begins until someone falls out of bed from laughing too hard.

Chapter 23/2 – The Map of "Where Is Today's Hug?"

Joker drew a giant map of the orphanage with 30 spots marked with little hearts.

Every day he hides a little note in a different place that says:

"Surprise hug here! Come find me ♡"

Lysithea spends the day hunting for the notes and getting surprise hugs in closets, behind curtains, inside the (empty, of course) oven.

Chapter 23/3 – The Night the Moon Came Down

Huge full moon.

Lirien had a vision: "The moon wants to play with us tonight."

Joker and Harley used illusion + shadow magic to make the moon appear to descend into the garden.

The children danced with the "moon" (actually a giant ball of light) until deep into the night.

Lysithea kept a tiny piece of that light in a glass jar.

It still glows on her bedside table.

Chapter 23/4 – The Last Fluff Chapter Before the Chaos

Ordinary autumn afternoon.

Lysithea is in the garden reading a book.

Eight children sneak up, carrying a huge blanket.

Suddenly:

GROUP POUNCE!

They all jump on her at once, blanket over everything, shouting:

"MOMMY CAPTURED! NOW YOU'RE OURS FOREVER!"

Lysithea pretends to struggle, but soon surrenders and stays there in the middle of the pile of children, laughing and crying at the same time.

Joker whispers in her ear, just for her to hear:

"You're already ours forever, okay?

We're just reminding you."

Lysithea squeezes everyone tighter.

And thus ends the golden age of Saint Lunalie Orphanage…

…at least until the next volume, when the world knocks on the door with chains and bad intentions.
