Two mellifluous voices sang merrily rousing the young alpha from his sleep. Xie Wen squinted his eyes open only to find two boys hovering over him with big grins plastered on their faces. The duo; Yu Yang ,an omega and He Ming,a beta were the closest to him in their dorm. The three had always stuck together since the first semester of freshman year and now in their second semester their bond had naturally become stronger.
"Wake up sleepyhead it's your special day,"He Ming said ,"You need to find your mate,"he added with a teasing smile.
Being the closest to him,they knew how important that day was to him and how much he had been waiting for it. Unlike other birthdays before it wasn't just a day he would celebrate being born,it was a day he would find that special someone reserved for him by the moon goddess:a mate.
At the mention of his mate,the alpha swiftly threw the quilt away and stepped down grabbing his towel and rushed to the bathroom. In a few minutes he appeared looking all fresh. His friends helped him choose an appealing outfit though he only had a few. He wanted to look stunning for his mate and leave a good impression .
After getting ready,the three friends passed by the cafeteria to grab breakfast before proceeding to the lecture hall.

"Should I buy a gift for my mate?" The alpha asked excitedly.
Yu Yang chuckled fondly at his enthusiastic friend,"I think it's better you find them first. Besides what if they're not in this university or in this town or this country at all?,"he reasoned out.
All the excitement the alpha had faded instantly along with his smile only to be replaced with a sad pout. Thinking of it,his friend was probably right,but he couldn't shake off the disappointment because of that possibility.
"I'm going to get some strawberry milk,do you guys want anything?"Xie Wen asked, getting up from his seat.
"Nope."
He Ming only shook his head and continued eating his food. The young alpha walked off to the vending machine and got himself a bottle of strawberry milk; one of his favourite drinks.
It was hard to believe he was an alpha with the kind of preferences he had. If not for his athletic body and his scent,many would have mistaken him as an omega or a beta especially because of his soft facial features. He was beautiful with delicate features; like an omega.
Rushing back to his group of friends,he bumped into someone. He instinctively stepped back and apologized but before he could compose himself well,a sweet scent of strawberry cream and magnolia filled his senses. He slowly raised his eyes , locking eyes with a brown eyed beautiful male whose eyes shifted to a bluish hue upon contact mirroring his own that had now turned red.
His wolf howled in delight screaming,"Mate! Mate!"
The alpha couldn't believe it. His dream of finding his mate had come true. What made it even more unbelievable was that his mate was Guo Rui,the most popular omega on campus. He was the omega that most alphas practically swooned over. The alpha shyly dusted his clothes, fixing his posture and put on his best smile for his omega.
"H-Hi," he mumbled shyly looking expectantly at the beautiful omega who had a blank expression on his face.
"You're my mate,"the alpha added still shy but holding his gaze.
There was a pause and then the omega heaved a sigh folding his hands like a mom fed up with her kid's antics,"What a bad day. Look at you dressed in rags instead of clothes,a bottle of cheap strawberry milk, pathetic shoes,a childish face yet you claim to be my mate. What a joke,"he scoffed,"You think a poor alpha like you that lives on part-time jobs deserves someone like me?"he questioned his eyes drooping with disgust.
By now students had sniffed the drama,left their dining tables quickly to witness the scene unfold. After all, everything concerning Guo Rui seemed to attract attention.
"What's your name by the way?"the omega asked casually.
"Xie...Wen,"the alpha stuttered in embarrassment.
"So let's not waste each other's time... I omega Guo Rui reject alpha Xie Wen as my mate,"the omega declared loud and clear infront of everyone.
Xie Wen's heart clenched painfully ,his wolf falling into distress as an effect of the painful rejection plus the humiliation. His pride and ego as an alpha had been trampled upon.
Tears welled up in his eyes,he felt his lungs constricting, unable to breathe properly. He fell on his knees and Guo Rui walked away making the crowd to disperse.
The omega himself could feel the pain after rejecting his mate,but he would never lower his standards because of a destined mate bond. Instead he blamed the moon goddess for forcing partners on others without giving them the right to choose. He wasn't exactly fond of the whole ' destined mates' concept.
"Let's get you out of here,"Yu Yang said crouching beside the sobbing alpha. He pulled the alpha closer hugging him as he cried his heart out,"It will be fine. You'll find an omega who deserves you,"he said rubbing Xie Wen's head soothingly.
