After the morning of half-burned breakfast, I told Kiera to stay with Seline and Anny while I went out with the twins to get papers done. Once that's done, I can bring her with us to the celebration. I got some summer clothes since the mate festival will be the warmest day of the entire year. I had a tank top and shorts on with some sneakers and had my hair done in a high ponytail. I have gotten used to the extra curve of my body and have to work getting clothes that fit me. On my way, I saw this guy with blonde hair, who looked very handsome, but his scent was sour in deception. I walked past him. He must have caught sight of me, specifically my body probably, caught up to me and taken my hand.
"Hey, gorgeous," he said, turning me to face him. The twins were close behind me and ran over, growling.
"Don't fucking touch her!" Drew bared his teeth, smacking the blonde guy's hand away from mine. I looked between the twins and the blonde guy.
"Oh, guess I have competition." The blonde guy said.
"Back off, Hendrick," Markus said. Oh, so this is the pervert. "Soren and Mordecai are both just as bad as you."
"Oh, come on, guys, it's just a little fun," Hendrick said.
"It's not! Considering that one of your pack mates abused a child! And you did nothing!" Markus shouted at him.
"It's not my fault," Hendrick said. I moved in front of the twins, and my hair hid my expression.
"Rose?" the twins said in unison and looked to me in confusion.
"Oh, Rose, is it?" I could hear Hendrick smirk like he won a prize. "Guess you're interested-"
He didn't get the chance to finish that sentence when I punched him in the face, a white light outlined my fist, and he was sent flying. I froze after I punched him. He hit the wall, I looked to my fist, and the white light vanished. I looked at the twins, confused. The twins looked like they found their new favourite thing.
"What-"
"Rose," Drew interrupted me. "We are going to have a conversation later."
"Uh, okay," I said. Markus had his hand covering his face. We headed inside and just got to work on adoption papers. And after an hour of patience and paperwork, I had now become Kiera's legal mother. Then we headed home to get ready for the celebration in a few days. I know the twins will get more possessive, and the girls are going to be talking about who is the best mate of choice. I headed home with the boys, papers in hand, and Hendrick was gone when we got out, and a crack in the wall was left. "I really hope I don't get stuck with paying for that."
"You won't," Drew said, Markus and he staying very close to me. "Golden Claw will be charged for it."
"Yep," Markus said. Both of them sounded like they were struggling with something. I was confused, but I didn't ask anything about it. When we got home, Kiera was doing Selene and Anny's makeup, and wearing a little sundress and capris. Kiera ran over and hugged my leg. I pet her head and made my way in.
"So, what happened today?" Anny asked as she and Selene stood up.
"We need to learn about what else she can do," the twins said immediately at the same time. The girls looked at each other, confused. Then to the twins, and I followed their gaze, and the boys had red cheeks. Oh, hell no, they had better not be thinking of anything perverted. I took Kiera to our room, and she showed me all her new clothes, toys, and shoes. I smiled with her as she babbled about her favourites. That night, once I got Kiera to bed and had the door shut, my parents dug through the attic and found an old book on the white wolves on Mom's side of the family, and the twins told everyone what happened with me and that stuck-up heir. I just sat at the kitchen table and got to reading the book.
I got started, and on the first page was a list of abilities and what the wolf's connection can do with a mate of the connected. On the next page, I felt my face go red, a detailed explanation of what the mating process would affect in a connected bond. I flipped through the pages quickly. I found the chapter on the powers and abilities in a white wolf. The list went from a silver punch to a full-on controlled transformation. I read up on the silver punch, and it was exactly like what I did to Hendrick. It only happens out of pure rage and will only hit someone who absolutely deserves it.
The next is on what is called claw extension. It is basically just my nails sharpening into claws, like when I protected Kiera. It only extends when a sense of fierce protection is felt in the bonded and will be acted upon by instinct. The next one is something called an eclipse howl. It is controllable, but it isn't something that will be cultivated. It is activated when the bonded howl, day or night. The sun will be covered by the moon, and the light will become a haunting blue.
There was one called hyper-step. The bonded will move faster than most creatures can react, and can be controlled through track training, like in a marathon. The last one is the full-on transformation, when wolf and bonded act as one, merged into a huge creature that can throw a building into a ditch. These powers sound like something from a fairy tale. I read on, and the wolf and bonded could speak through the mind link in this form, and could act as an unstoppable predator. This sounds like some sort of creature of mass destruction. I kept reading, and it is possible to take on permanent features that are unique to the wolf itself. Pure white hair, bright eyes, fangs, and immense inhuman strength that the wolf itself uses to break bones of prey or opponents. I went on with reading about how the powers affect the body and everything. There aren't any side effects, and the powers last as long as the bonded can handle. Once I was done reading, I went to bed. Kiera has her own bed now, so I can get into bed and not disturb her. I got upstairs, into my room, and silently got into my bed using the moonlight from the window as my guide to my bed. I got into my warm bed and looked at Kiera while she slept. She is my daughter now, legally, I am going to protect her the best I can. With these abilities, I am trying to figure out how to go about being a parent with my parents' help. I closed my eyes and settled for sleep, listening to the room around us and get some sleep.
