Chapter 9 - Remnants of a dream

After a busy day, night fell.

At 8:30,

Rose felt very sleepy, said goodbye to her parents, and went to bed. She lay down and looked up at the ceiling, smiling. Rose fell into a deep sleep,

but...

At 3:59,

she woke up with a start from the same nightmare. She felt scared and wanted to go to her room, but she didn't, afraid of worrying her mother again. She closed the door and turned on the lights. She sat up in bed, hugged her pillow tightly, and cried a little. Then she smiled through her tears and repeated, "It's a silly dream. Don't let it get to you. . Yes, yes, it's silly. Silly.....

Rose repeated these words until morning. She couldn't sleep until she heard her parents waking up, and then she felt a little relieved. Rose stayed in her room so they wouldn't know she was awake. She heard her mother preparing breakfast and felt as if her mother was coming closer to call her. Rose quickly turned off the lights and pretended to be asleep. Her mother knocked twice and called, "Rose, my child, wake up and have breakfast with your parents." Rose didn't answer. Her mother opened the door and said, "Rose!" Rose replied sleepily, pretending she had been asleep, "Okay, Mum, I'm coming." "Okay, my child." Her mother left. Rose got up and felt a little calmer. She looked in the mirror and saw herself; her face was pale and her eyes were dull. She said sadly, "What's happening to me? Why does this nightmare keep happening over and over again?... And what does 'You are the Chosen One' mean?!"
