Goblin Slayer World

Although the Elf Scout's injuries were severe, the Young Priest's "Heal" miracle had successfully patched her primary hardware. Her emerald eyes remained fixed on Kael, tracking his every move with a mix of awe and relief.

"Thank you for saving me," she whispered.

"It's what a Knight does. Can you give me a sit-rep on the interior?" Kael asked, helping her to her feet. Note to self: Next time I take a wrong turn, make sure it's toward the Elven forests. Their scouts are much better looking than Dwarven prospectors.

"A Troll is leading them," she warned, her voice trembling.

The Elf Archer's breath hitched. A Troll was a high-level biological hazard, a tank-class monster comparable to a Griffin in raw torque.

"It's not a standard unit," the Scout continued. "It's massive, and I think it's received a Demon God's Blessing. My daggers couldn't even keep a wound open; it heals in real-time."

As she spoke, a rhythmic thud-thud-thud echoed from the darkness. The master of the nest was approaching. Kael stepped forward, planting his Knight Sword into the stone floor and resting his hands on the hilt. He became a biological wall, absorbing the atmospheric pressure of the approaching beast.

The Goblin Slayer tossed a torch. The light revealed a blue-skinned titan over three meters tall, its muscles looking like forged rock, clutching a massive iron hammer.

"Terrain's bad, Kael," Goblin Slayer whispered. "Collapse risk is high."

"You slaughtered my servants?" the Troll roared, its eyes locking onto Kael. It completely ignored the others. In its primitive, God-blessed logic, only Kael possessed the "Attack Power" to be a threat.

"If you mean the green runts, yeah. I zeroed them," Kael replied, his eyes scanning the Troll's horns. Troll horns are high-value reagents. If I bring these to the Witch, I can probably unlock that new 'Binding' spell she was talking about. Life is good.

Enraged, the Troll swung its hammer. The floor shattered, the impact shaking the entire ruin. But when the dust settled, Kael had "teleported." He was standing atop the hammerhead, looking down with clinical indifference.

"Flame Breathing, Ninth Form: Purgatory."

A solar-flare of Blood Qi erupted. The sudden bloom of light blinded the party. In that microsecond, a "shooting star" cut through the passage. When the light faded, the Troll was kneeling, its body emitting the stench of seared meat. Its head was no longer attached.

Kael tossed the heavy, horned head to the Elf Archer. "Help me pack this. It's a gift."

"A gift?!" she stammered, holding the gruesome trophy. "Who would want this?!"

"I'll leave the cleanup to you all," Kael said, sheathing his blade. "Goblin Slayer, have fun."

Tokyo – Tokyo Ghoul World

Inside the sterile, underground lab of Kanou General Hospital, Dr. Akihiro Kanou was recording data next to a cold corpse. The transplantation of a Kakuho had failed again.

"The rejection rate is too high," Kanou murmured. "Ken Kaneki truly was a one-in-a-million miracle."

The door slid open. Nimura Furuta walked in, followed by the Yasuhisa twins, Kurona and Nashiro. Furuta, the architect of the Steel Beam Incident, had brought these two Investigator Trainees as fresh experimental tissue.

"Yasuhisa... your father was a good friend," Kanou lied smoothly, using his "Kind Doctor" persona to manipulate the frightened sisters. He wanted to prime them with hatred, hoping the emotional variable would stabilize the Half-Ghoul transformation.

Furuta watched from the side, a frivolous smirk on his face. He was a Half-Ghoul himself—stronger than any pure Ghoul but doomed to a shortened lifespan.

CRASH.

The lab door was kicked off its hinges.

"Kuro, Shiro, you really shouldn't believe everything a man with a lab coat tells you," Kael said, stepping out of the shadows. "Since when were you so easy to exploit?"

"Kael!" the twins cried out, rushing to his side. Their panic vanished, replaced by the security Kael always provided.

"You were followed?" Kanou looked at Furuta, surprised by the lapse in security.

Furuta's smirk vanished. He didn't recognize Kael, but the fact that he'd been tailed without his high-spec Ghoul senses picking it up was a "System Error" he couldn't ignore. "Who are you?"

"Top graduate of the CCG Academy. Currently a Second Class Investigator," Kael shrugged.

"A Second Class? Don't make me laugh." Furuta's body became a blur as he lunged. He didn't have a Kagune, but his physical attributes were Tier-1. He moved to end the "Investigator" instantly.

Kael lifted his eyelids. Since you love playing the 'understated' villain, let me show you some raw power.

"I'm the star of the varsity basketball team, Furuta. The ultimate sports student. Can you handle the torque of this punch?"

SPLAT.

It was the sound of a mosquito being hit by a sledgehammer. Furuta Nimura was pulverized into a visceral smear against the white lab wall. No amount of Ghoul regeneration could fix being turned into a liquid.

Kael wiped a drop of blood from his sleeve. "Alright, Doc. Let's talk about your research."
