Alone in his house again, Azrael calmed down. He got up and went to the window, staring at the sky, which had never felt this close.
It's crazy. How can someone even predict something like this?
He didn't even know how to react.
"I was so close to peeking deeper into her chest, and now she's gone…" Azrael closed his eyes, melancholy washing over him.
It had been so easy to focus with the Third Lord around. He'd had a clear purpose and a rekindled dream, but now she was gone, and reality crashed down on him.
He could aim for a Lord's spot and had even received a skill from the Lord herself, but would he really be able to pull it off?
I'm an average student with only the Blink (D) skill.
Going from one point to another had been Azrael's specialty, but it wasn't anything special in the grand scheme of things. Other students with more versatile, stronger skills could easily catch and defeat him. If he wanted to beat others, he also needed to face them head-on. And that was where Azrael often tasted defeat.
But since I have a new skill, I might be able to find Mia and… become a Lord.
At this point, Azrael didn't want to think about the Third Lord's decision. He'd been chosen, and he would go along with her judgment.
He ran upstairs to his room and turned on his PC.
It worked fine, except he didn't have internet.
Azrael plugged in his phone and opened a small notes app.
"Main Goal: Find Mia and become a Lord," Azrael typed. "Personal Goal: Find hot chicks and make them unable to live without me. I've had it with being alone for years. Hmm. I feel like I'm forgetting something, but that's not a big deal if I can forget it so easily."
There was no one here to tell him he had to descend to achieve any of his goals. That said, Azrael checked his system and the new skill he'd obtained. It actually made his goals feel possible.
[Infinite Dungeons (SSS): You're able to open a door to any dungeon and enter it. Within the dungeons, you become the Main Conqueror and receive a set of quests to conquer the dungeon. You're now able to open an [F Rank] dungeon.]
I can open F-ranks and clear them for loot, then improve my skills. Doesn't that sound like leveling up in the domains? Did you just give me too much of a cheat, Third Lord?
Because Earth had the protection of the Lords, no monsters or dungeons appeared in the world. Instead, the domains of the Lords faced those threats. Threats aside, those dangers were also a great source of resources and skills, which helped many evolve under the Lords.
Azrael's heart leaped.
I'm in a partial domain, so monsters, or anything, can come at me at any point!
Slamming his hand onto the keyboard, Azrael opened his security camera feed and checked his house's surroundings. He lived alone, so he needed that kind of protection.
No one was at the top of the mountain. Some clouds looked like they might drift through his house, and he actually looked forward to it.
Safe. Okay, okay… I'll build my own fortress at the top of this mountain first. I've got nothing better to do than open a dungeon, so let's get straight to it… ah, wait. I need some equipment!
As a student at a military school, Azrael had good stuff in his closet. He opened it and picked out his military school uniform.
[You have equipped Military School Uniform(Common)]
[Your stats have been updated.]
Hmm, let's see.
[Strength: D]
[Vitality: D]
[Stamina: D]
[Dexterity: D]
[Intelligence: D]
Yep, nothing changed. Even a damn military uniform woven from mana threads and monster cotton can't bump my stats even a little. All D. Is it because I'm horny as hell? No way, right?
Stats aside, the uniform came with high defense, which would help Azrael handle anything that showed up during his first dungeon conquest. He also put on black gloves that looked thin and normal, but their purpose was to increase strength and dexterity, as well as damage.
His stats didn't go up, but his damage at least ticked up a little.
Once he was ready, he willed his new skill to activate. Sure enough, a small portal appeared in front of him, swirling in a vortex, beckoning him. It crackled with mana and lightning.
Azrael touched the surface of the vortex and got sucked in.
To his surprise, he appeared in a dark, rectangular room. He stood on a cold, solid floor, and across from him at the far end was solid ground. Between them stretched a vast chasm of boundless darkness that spelled trouble in its entirety.
Countless seesaws floated above the chasm, defying gravity.
[You have entered F-Rank Dungeon: Death Seesaws.]
FRANK! YOU MUST BE KIDDING ME! I'D RATHER FIGHT MONSTERS!
Something flashed within the chasm. A new platform slid out of the wall, and a bronze chest appeared on it.
Azrael narrowed his eyes.
A few feet ahead, another platform slid out. A silver chest appeared on it.
And at the very end of the dungeon, on the safest stretch of floor out there, a golden chest appeared, bigger than all the others combined.
[You have become the Main Conqueror of the Death Seesaws Dungeon.]
[You can feel the increased gravity on each seesaw and the imbalance in their weight.]
[You have received the first quest: Step on the first seesaw to experience it.]
Without hesitation, Azrael came to a single conclusion.
I love big chests, so I only want big chests. I'm a simple man.
And with the same passion, he hurled himself onto the first seesaw, only for it to tip under his weight and throw him straight into the chasm.
Fuck!
