Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 Target: Pewter Gym!

"Don't be scared, don't be scared! This is a move I taught you called Surf. From now on, when you encounter Rock, Ground, or Fire-type opponents, you can attack them with the Surf move."

Seeing Pichu's initial surprise and uncertainty after being taught a move for the first time, Adrian smiled and quickly went to comfort him.

"Pichu~"

So it was his trainer's doing, then it's fine!

Pichu breathed a sigh of relief, patted his chest, and felt much calmer.

For some reason, he had an inexplicable trust in Adrian.

"It's just a shame that Pichu is still too small, and his internal energy is extremely limited. Moreover, Surf isn't his natural type move, so its current power is indeed a bit small."

Recalling the miniature two-meter wave from just now, Adrian shook his head.

If Gyarados were to use Surf, Adrian estimated the wave would be at least ten meters high, easily covering the entire field.

After all, the Surf move is inherently an area attack, and like Earthquake, it doesn't distinguish between friend and foe.

But in Pichu's hands, the area move seemed to turn into a single-target move, and its power was also very limited.

Unless the opponent was a pokémon with a four-times weakness to Water, a one-hit knockout would probably be difficult.

"Four-times weakness to Water? One-hit knockout?"

A flash of lightning went through Adrian's mind.

He couldn't help but think of the Pewter City Gym, which is a Rock-type Gym.

The original Gym Leader of Pewter City was Brock, but he is now traveling with Ash in the Kanto region, and his father, Flint, has taken over.

The signature pokémon of the Pewter Gym are Onix and Geodude, both Rock + Ground dual-types, and coincidentally, all are four-times weak to Water.

"If I challenge the Pewter Gym with Pichu, normal people probably wouldn't be optimistic."

"Then if I use Surf to one-hit knockout the opponents, the Streamer effect would probably explode."

Thinking of this, Adrian became excited.

After Magikarp evolved into Gyarados, it became a powerful pokémon. Although Adrian could also use Gyarados to challenge the Pewter Gym, if he won, it would seem unremarkable.

After all, Gyarados has an advantage in all aspects; winning is normal, losing is abnormal.

But if the challenging Pokémon were replaced with Pichu, then losing would be normal, and winning would be abnormal.

If it was a one-hit knockout complete victory, then it would simply explode.

After all, not many Pikachu or Raichu can master the Surf move, let alone a baby pokémon like Pichu.

"In that case, the next Gym will be Pewter City."

Adrian set his goal.

Although there was a suspicion of playing dumb to catch a tiger, raising pokémon requires a lot of money, and Adrian had no choice.

After all, he had to make a living!

However, to be cautious, Adrian also taught Pichu the Agility move, which was rewarded when he caught Seaking.

This would give Pichu a higher chance of winning!

"Moves: Thunder Shock, Thunder Wave, Shinny, Sweet Kiss, Surf, Agility."

Looking at Pichu's move list, Adrian nodded with satisfaction: "This move panel is much more impressive than Magikarp's before. It has control, status, buffs, and a rich variety of tactics that can be implemented..."

Immediately after, Adrian released Gyarados, first letting him eat the Chukumelon, and then taught him the Double Team move.

With all the rewards distributed, Adrian leisurely returned to the Pokémon Center... After eating, Adrian began to edit the afternoon's video and uploaded it to his channel.

"What? Little Adrian updated again? Didn't he just Stream the Magikarp high jump competition and the Celadon City Gym challenge this morning?"

"As prolific as a sow, I like it!"

"Dinner time! Dinner time!"

"I want to see what new tricks you, kid, can pull out of this video today?"

...Thanks to Adrian's current fan base of over 100,000, the video had over a thousand views shortly after being uploaded, and there were many comments and bullet screens.

The beginning of the video showed Adrian putting Gyarados into the lake to feed him poffin.

Next was Gary coming to challenge him, followed by Gyarados battling Nidoking.

"Who is this young man? Is he a legitimate trainer? Why is he traveling with a girlfriend group? He deserves to die!!!!"

"Streamer, go for it! Give this spiky-haired kid a good lesson. If the Streamer wins, I'll immediately tip a thousand Pokedollars, I swear."

"Streamer, Streamer! Please tell the young man in the video that I've placed a Dragonite's Poké Ball on Route 7 outside Celadon City. Tell the young man to go get it; he'll hit the jackpot and soar to success!"

"Gyarados, hit him hard!"

...Adrian hadn't experienced many battles, but in most cases, his fans were not optimistic about Adrian and would then betray him to support Adrian's opponents.

But this time, Adrian's fans overwhelmingly supported him.

There was no other way; Gary was just too hateful.

He was handsome, rich, had many partners, and was strong—it was simply unfair!

How were the handsome guys supposed to live?

Must strike hard!

On the battleground, Gary sent out Nidoking, and many netizens felt heavy-hearted.

Nidoking is also a famously powerful pokémon.

The crucial point was battling on land, where Gyarados had a natural disadvantage, and Nidoking had an advantage.

Moreover, Gyarados had just evolved, and no one knew how strong he really was.

Fortunately, as Nidoking's Thunder Punch move's Electric-type energy was drawn away by Pichu's Lightning Rod, Gary lost the match, and the netizens immediately cheered and celebrated.

Oh ~ that feels good!

Many netizens sent tips, and Adrian also greatly benefited from Gary's misfortune.

The video continued to play, showing Gary and Adrian chasing Pichu together, and then Adrian catching Pichu.

"Wuwuwu! Pichu is so small and adorable. Oh my goodness, how can there be such a cute pokémon as Pichu?"

"The Streamer is small and very cute too!"

"Gyarados: What? I'm big, am I not cute? So love disappears, right?"

"I want to touch him!"

"Upstairs, do you want to touch the small Pichu, or the big Gyarados? Or the Streamer who can be big or small?"

"Only children make choices. As an adult, I want them all!"

...Pichu's popularity was significantly higher than Magikarp's, and he was catching up to the evolved Gyarados.

Indeed, this is a world that judges by appearance!

In the latter half of the video, Adrian announced his next plan, which was to travel to Pewter City by fishing and challenge the Pewter Gym.

To this, many netizens were noncommittal, or rather, simply didn't care.

Because the Pewter Gym is a third-rate Gym in Kanto, and the Gym Leader's strength is not strong, and Gyarados has a type advantage.

Adrian challenging the Pewter Gym had a high chance of winning, so there was no excitement in the video.

However, as Adrian announced that he was going to challenge the Pewter Gym with his newly caught 'Pichu', comments and bullet screens instantly surged.

"Pichu: Huh? I'm fighting the Pewter Gym?"

"Streamer, stop it! The Pewter Gym is full of Rock + Ground dual-type pokémon; Pichu can't beat them."

"Exactly! Pichu is so cute, why does he have to fight in a Gym battle? Isn't it more appropriate to leave this rough work to Gyarados?"

"Streamer, Streamer, curiosity is fine, but sensationalism really isn't. Please don't make it harder for yourself, okay? I really don't want to see such a soft and cute Pichu getting beaten up by Onix!"
