Chapter 54 - Chapter 54: The powerful crocodile, come and take the bait!

The pokémon that came to mediate was none other than Dragonite, the guardian deity of the sanctuary!

It is a kind-hearted pokémon, very strong, and handles matters with great fairness. All the pokémon living here look up to it.

"Awoo~"

Dragonite reiterated with a grim face, its eyes growing stricter.

"Woo~"

With a whimper, Feraligatr quickly let go.

One could ignore others' requests, but not Dragonite's. Even Feraligatr couldn't refuse Dragonite.

Because if Feraligatr didn't want to be civil, Dragonite would make it civil.

"Awoo~"

Seeing this, the serious expression on Dragonite's face vanished, replaced by a cheerful smile, looking utterly harmless.

"Gyarados, are you okay?"

Adrian quickly ran over to check Gyarados's injuries.

"Awoo roar~"

At this moment, Gyarados had lost its usual domineering aura. Blood seeped from its neck, clearly showing huge teeth marks, and many of its scales had fallen off. It was also constantly panting heavily.

Since its debut, this was the first time Gyarados had suffered such a major loss.

Its eyes were fixed on the Feraligatr nearby, clearly remembering its foe.

"Adrian, are you okay!"

It was only then that Clair and Wille, noticing the abnormal situation, arrived late, riding their pokémon.

Seeing Gyarados injured, Clair quickly took out a Potion spray and sprayed it all over Gyarados's wounds: "Luckily your Gyarados is huge; these injuries shouldn't be a big deal. After spraying Potion, it should recover about seventy to eighty percent by tomorrow."

The implication was that if it had been a smaller pokémon, it would not have fared well after taking that bite from Feraligatr.

Only Wille's eyes flickered.

He saw something from this conflict: Adrian's strength was not strong.

Of course, this Feraligatr was indeed extremely powerful, but for Adrian's two pokémon to be unable to defeat it even together, that was a bit weak.

In any case, putting himself in the situation, Wille was absolutely confident that with his pokémon team, he could repel this Feraligatr's attack.

"Awoo~"

Seeing that Gyarados had received treatment, Dragonite then stepped forward to ask why the conflict had broken out.

"Awoo awoo~"

Feraligatr quickly complained and pointed to the Totodile hiding behind it.

Dragonite went forward to check and indeed saw traces of Thunder Shock on Totodile's body, and its expression became somewhat displeased when it looked at Adrian.

But it still gave Adrian a chance to explain.

"Dragonite, this is what happened. I was just fishing…"

Adrian quickly recounted the events, emphasizing that Totodile had coveted his bait and suddenly launched an attack.

Pichu using Thunder Shock on Totodile was purely to protect Adrian.

"Awoo~"

Dragonite was noncommittal upon hearing this, then questioned Totodile.

"Wani~ Wani~"

Although Totodile was mischievous, it was not deep-minded and lacked the ability to lie.

Facing Dragonite's questioning, Totodile immediately admitted everything, though it looked a bit embarrassed, shrinking its head and hiding behind Feraligatr, not daring to show its face again.

"Waa roar?"

Feraligatr was stunned, a drop of cold sweat appearing on its forehead.

It had been sleeping on the shore just now when its little one came back crying, saying it had been bullied. It immediately flew into a rage, and after finding Adrian, it started fighting without a word, almost severely injuring Gyarados.

So in the end, it was not in the right?

Bang!

The angry Feraligatr punched Totodile on the head, complaining loudly.

This naughty kid, what a pain for its mother!!!

"Wani~ Wani~"

Totodile immediately burst into tears, sobbing.

"Awoo~"

Dragonite pointed at Feraligatr and Totodile, then at Adrian and Gyarados.

"Awoo awoo~"

Feraligatr's expression stiffened, and it quickly pulled Totodile forward, making strange noises at Adrian and Gyarados.

It was clearly apologizing!

"This naughty kid!"

Adrian was not one to hold grudges, so he immediately accepted Feraligatr's apology.

However, when he saw the Feraligatr so close, opening and closing its gaping maw, Adrian suddenly had an idea.

"This is my homemade pokémon food. Totodile seems to like it very much. Feraligatr, why don't you try some too."

Under everyone's gaze, Adrian picked up his fishing rod again, put bait on it, and dangled it near Feraligatr's mouth, smiling: "As for the misunderstanding just now, let's consider it a case of getting to know each other through a fight."

"Awoo?"

Smelling the food offered to its mouth, Feraligatr involuntarily began to salivate.

At the same time, its impression of Adrian improved greatly.

After getting beaten by it, he still gave it delicious food?

This person is really nice!!!

As for why he didn't use his hand but used a fishing rod, he probably was afraid of getting bitten, right?

Feraligatr didn't think too deeply, it just swallowed the bait at its mouth and happily savored it.

[Caught 'Feraligatr', rewarded with 1 'Giga Impact' TM.]

[First time catching 'Feraligatr', additionally rewarded with 1 'X Attack'.]

As the cheat ability prompts appeared, Adrian beamed, thinking: "What an unexpected great harvest!"

Following closely was Feraligatr's stat panel.

"Hiss~"

Looking at Feraligatr's dense list of skills, Adrian gasped, his pupils constricting.

He suddenly realized that Feraligatr, which had just been pinning Gyarados to the ground and crushing it, might not have used its full power.

Because with just one glance, Adrian saw moves like Hydro Pump, Focus Punch, Giga Impact, Outrage, and Stone Edge, all powerful moves with astonishing destructive force.

"Awoo~"

Seeing that the misunderstanding between the two parties had been eliminated and their relationship had become harmonious, Dragonite was also very happy.

It even took out a few berries from its embrace and distributed them to everyone to share.

After eating the berries, Feraligatr left with Totodile, but the naughty kid kept looking back at Adrian's bait box every few steps.

Dragonite flew to a nearby spot and lay down to sleep, seemingly worried that Adrian, the outsider, might not understand the rules and cause more trouble.

"Adrian, weren't you going to teach Magikarp the 'Bounce' skill?"

Wille's eyes flickered, and he said with a chuckle: "Why are you suddenly fishing?"

"I've loved fishing since I was a child. Seeing so many pokémon living in this large lake, I couldn't resist the urge to fish."

Adrian didn't make excuses.

I just like fishing, so what?

Clair knew that Adrian liked fishing, so she didn't say much, only urging Adrian to put more effort into it.

"Don't worry, I won't forget the main task. I just had Magikarp swim back and forth in the lake a hundred times to get a feel for its capabilities."

Adrian started to bluff without batting an eye: "Once I understand its foundation, a series of special training will begin…"

Clair nodded and left with Wille, increasing the intensity of their special training as well.

"Pika~ Pichu~"

Seeing everyone leave, Pichu, standing on Adrian's shoulder, quickly pointed to the dejected Gyarados by the lake.

This crushing defeat had clearly dealt a significant blow to Gyarados's confidence.

Because Gyarados's ability is 'Moxie'; victory makes it stronger, while defeat makes it depressed.

"Gyarados, don't be dejected by a temporary failure. In pokémon battles, winning and losing are common. Even a regional Champion doesn't win every battle."

Adrian stepped forward and patted Gyarados's head, comforting it: "That Feraligatr is indeed very strong, and we must acknowledge that. However, you don't need to underestimate yourself. After all, how long has it been since you evolved?"

"Moreover, if you just follow me, I guarantee you won't need too long to defeat Feraligatr and avenge yourself."

Adrian thumped his chest, making a promise, and finally added: "Come on, I have something good for you."

"Awoo roar~"

Hearing that there was something good, Gyarados immediately perked up.
