Chapter 17 - chapter 17The King’s Only Weakness

The mysterious garden of the royal palace was bathed in moonlight. Nikita walked alone, hiding her four blue wings within her body. Her long sky-blue hair trailed along the ground. Suddenly, carried by the wind, she felt a familiar shiver—one she had not felt in a very long time.

From behind the bushes, a strikingly handsome young man stepped out slowly. He wore modern yet elegant clothing, and an uncanny charm radiated from his face.

The Unknown Stranger:

Nikita froze. Startled, she asked,

"Who are you? How did you enter the palace garden at this hour? This place is heavily guarded."

The Mysterious Smile:

The young man smiled mockingly and stepped closer, as if they shared years of familiarity. In a calm voice he said,

"Have you really forgotten me, Nikita? Do you truly not remember who I am? Or has time washed everything away?"

The Touch of an Old Wound:

He gently touched a lock of her hair and whispered,

"I am the one you once loved… the one you promised your entire life to."

Nikita's Denial:

Nikita staggered back several steps. The cute locket at her throat flared red, signaling danger. In a trembling voice she said,

"No! That's impossible. He is dead. I saw him with my own eyes. I stood beside his grave. Who are you? What kind of magic are you using to take his form?"

Standing in the shadows of the royal garden, the young man gave a faint, unreadable smile—unaware that a white cat sat silently on a tree branch nearby, watching everything.

At that moment, King Kyren appeared on the palace balcony. His bare chest and glowing pale cat-like eyes pierced the darkness. He observed the entire scene—yet showed no anger, no jealousy. Instead, his mysterious smile deepened.

The King's Silence:

He said nothing. A trace of cold indifference flickered in his eyes. He looked at Nikita once, then slowly vanished into the darkness—as if he knew exactly who this young man was, or perhaps wished to test Nikita herself.

Nikita's Confusion:

Seeing the king leave filled Nikita with fear. She could not understand why he would abandon her in front of this stranger. Her long sky-blue hair trembled with unease.

The Stranger's Pressure:

The young man stepped closer, his voice identical to her former lover's.

"Did you see, Nikita? Your king doesn't love you. He left you alone. But I didn't come to abandon you. I came back for you."

The Cat's Warning:

The white cat jumped down and hissed at Nikita's feet, sensing that this handsome young man was not human—but a terrifying illusion.

The locket at Nikita's throat turned ice-cold. She didn't know whether to chase after the king or face the ghost of her past.

The young man reached out and gently placed his hand on her cheek. His touch was unnaturally cold, sending a chill through her body.

The Stranger's Tears:

Tears streamed down his face as he sobbed,

"Do you really believe I died, Nikita? I suffered every moment for you."

Before she could respond, he pulled her into a tight embrace. His tears soaked her shoulder. Nikita stood frozen—caught between the touch of her lost love and the memory of King Kyren's enigmatic smile.

Nikita's Inner Conflict:

Her long hair was trapped in his arms. The locket shook violently, warning her that something was terribly wrong.

The Cat's Reaction:

The white cat clawed at the young man's leg—but he didn't react at all.

From within the palace, King Kyren watched everything. Did he know this man would return? Or had he deliberately placed Nikita in this cruel test?

Nikita finally pushed herself free and stared directly into the young man's eyes. Her voice was firm, shaking with disbelief.

"No. This can't be true. You died. I saw your body. Dead people don't return."

The young man laughed bitterly, his tears turning into resentment.

"You think I'm lying? Maybe I am—to you. But remember, Nikita, my life was destroyed because of you. My future ended. And now that I've returned, you deny me?"

As he prepared to say his name, Nikita snapped.

Nikita's Defiance:

"Enough. Not another word."

She raised her hand—and a faint blue glow spread from her palm. The immortality granted by the king surged through her veins. Her sky-blue hair writhed as if alive.

The white cat circled the young man, trapping him, while on the balcony King Kyren stood bare-chested, watching silently as Nikita took control of her past. His familiar mysterious smile widened.

The cute locket at Nikita's throat erupted into an intense purple light.Despite the blue aura glowing from Nikita's hand and her stern warning, the young man seemed to grow reckless. Ignoring her raised hand, he suddenly pulled her into a forceful embrace. His grip was so tight that Nikita froze for a moment, unable to react.

He whispered into her ear, his voice trembling:

"You're telling me to be silent? But this is exactly what I want, Nikita. Your hatred. Your anger. Even this magical power of yours—I want all of it. You want to punish me? Then do it. But don't abandon me."

Nikita's Turmoil:

Her long sky-blue hair was crushed tightly in his fists. She couldn't understand how to resist this illusion. The four blue wings inside her chest struggled desperately to emerge, but the boy's tearful desperation weakened her for a moment.

Min-jun's Lament:

Crying uncontrollably, he continued,

"My career was destroyed because of you. I lost everything. Now you've become immortal, and I'm rotting in hell. I came back only for a single touch from you."

The King's Reaction:

At that moment, a cold wind swept through the garden. King Kyren descended slowly from the palace balcony. A radiant power emanated from his bare, well-built body. His pale cat-like eyes burned like fire.

The Cat's Roar:

The white cat suddenly grew larger, releasing a terrifying, ominous growl.

Nikita felt the cute locket at her throat shift from icy cold to burning hot. King Kyren stepped closer and said with his familiar mysterious smile,

"Nikita… will you set him free? Or shall I end him in my own way?"

When Nikita pleaded with the king to spare the boy, the gravity of the situation deepened. King Kyren partially spread his six massive wings and looked at her, a flicker of strange surprise crossing his glowing eyes.

Nikita cried out,

"No, my king! Please don't kill him! He's wrong, but he is a part of my past!"

The boy continued to cling to her, trembling.

The King's Pause:

King Kyren listened to her plea and stood still for a moment. In his pale eyes appeared a mixture of contempt and wounded pride. Without another word, he swept his long black hair aside and folded his six wings back.

The King's Departure:

His mysterious smile returned—but this time it held no triumph, only emptiness.

"Very well, Nikita," he said quietly. "If the illusion of your past outweighs my six hundred years of solitude, so be it."

With that, he disappeared into the darkness.

The Cat's Farewell:

The white cat cast one final hateful glance at the boy before following the king back into the palace.

Nikita's Helplessness:

As the king left, the magical glow of the garden faded. Nikita felt the locket at her throat grow dull and lifeless. Tears soaked her long sky-blue hair.

The boy still held her, but now his embrace felt heavier. He whispered again,

"See, Nikita? He left. He abandoned you. Now it's just you and me."

Nikita couldn't decide whether to run after the king or confront the unfinished truth with this boy. Even the strength to release her four blue wings seemed to fade away.

Later, high upon an ancient tree branch in the royal garden, Nikita sat with the mysterious young man. Below them, the ocean roared; above, moonlight bathed their forms. Her four vast blue wings glimmered softly in the darkness, and her sky-blue hair tangled among the branches.

After a long silence, Nikita looked into his eyes and asked calmly,

"Tell me… what is your real name? Have I truly mistaken you?"

The boy gazed at the sky for a moment, then smiled softly and said his Korean name:

"My name is Min-jun."

Hearing the name pulled Nikita into a faded memory.

Memories of the Past:

"Do you remember, Nikita? Those snowy nights in Seoul? I was at the peak of my career then. I gave everything up for you. People thought I disappeared… or died. But I was only waiting in your shadow."

Nikita's Astonishment:

She noticed Min-jun was wearing a finely embroidered outfit resembling a traditional Korean hanbok. She realized he was no ordinary human—he, too, was tied to the supernatural world.

Below them, the white cat still watched, standing guard.

The locket at Nikita's throat glowed faint blue. Holding Min-jun's hand, she said softly,

"But I'm no longer ordinary. I'm immortal. I have wings."

At that moment, as Min-jun spoke his true name, the air around them seemed to freeze. The hand in Nikita's grip warmed suddenly.

Revelation of His True Form:

Min-jun's eyes slowly turned a deep emerald green, glowing like precious gemstones. His skin grew even fairer, his features softer—almost ethereally beautiful, like a mythical being. Yet his voice and strong frame made it clear he was no woman—he was a supernatural, breathtakingly handsome man.

Nikita's Bewildered Admiration:

She stared at him, mesmerized, whispering to herself,

"Oh… so cute."

She had never seen such elegance and charm combined in a man before. In his long Korean robes, Min-jun looked like a fairy-tale prince.

The Mysterious Smile:

Min-jun smiled gently at her and said,

"This is the form you loved, Nikita. It was in the green of my eyes that you once found your world."

Her sky-blue hair shimmered greenish-blue under his gaze. The locket at her throat trembled softly, as if it too was captivated.

But far away, atop the palace tower, King Kyren watched everything with his pale cat-like eyes.

Would Min-jun's 'cute' form ignite the king's jealousy into something far more dangerousWhen Min-jun's enchanting green eyes fixed themselves on Nikita's gaze, the surroundings seemed to grow even more magical. Nikita sat silently on a tree branch, staring at Min-jun's strangely beautiful face, completely still.

Suddenly, without saying a word, Min-jun moved a little closer. He gently brushed aside a lock of Nikita's sky-blue hair behind her ear and softly placed a kiss on her cheek.

Nikita's Shiver:

At that touch, a surge of electricity ran through Nikita's entire body. Her four enormous blue wings trembled once, shy and overwhelmed with emotion. After a hundred years, that familiar touch of old love almost turned her back into the simple girl she once was.

Min-jun's Whisper:

After the kiss, Min-jun smiled mysteriously and said,

"Do I still not have this right, Nikita? Even if immortality has changed you, in my heart you are still the same as before."

Virat's Watchful Eye:

Below them, the white cat lifted its head and stared up at the tree branch. Its eyes glowed faintly—was it about to report this scene to the King?

The Locket's Change:

The cute locket around Nikita's neck shifted from blue to a soft pink glow, revealing the hidden love in her heart.

Just then, the sound of massive wings echoed from the top of the palace. Would King Kyren really be able to endure this sight, spreading his six black wings, while Min-jun and Nikita were lost in each other's spell?

In a Dark Corner of the Palace

At the same time, something chilling unfolded in a shadowy corner of the palace.

King Kyren was seething with rage, ready to unleash his six enormous wings, when suddenly someone grabbed his shoulder firmly from behind. A deep but familiar voice said:

"Hey, brother! Calm down. Why are you getting so worked up?"

Kyren spun around in shock. His pale, cat-like eyes widened in disbelief. Standing before him was someone he had known for countless ages. But the moment Kyren looked into the stranger's eyes, his chest tightened—those eyes were crimson red, a sign of no ordinary power.

The King's Warning:

In a low voice, Kyren murmured,

"You… you've returned? Then that means he is coming back too."

There was an unfamiliar fear in his voice. Kyren understood that Min-jun's appearance was no coincidence—it was a warning of a far greater danger.

The Game of Darkness:

The red-eyed man gave a crooked smile and gestured toward the window, where Min-jun and Nikita sat close together.

Back on the Tree Branch

Nikita was so deeply lost in Min-jun's green-eyed enchantment that she sensed nothing of the tension inside the palace. Holding her hand, Min-jun whispered,

"Nikita, this palace isn't safe for you. There are many secrets hidden behind this King—secrets you don't know."

Her sky-blue hair swayed in the wind, and suddenly her cute locket began to tremble. She couldn't understand why Min-jun was trying to turn her against the King.

The Hidden Truth

The mystery deepened in that dark corner of the palace. On one side stood Min-jun with his glowing green eyes; on the other, behind the King, stood the terrifying red-eyed stranger.

1. The Red-Eyed Mysterious Man (The Red-Eyed Demon):

His name was Raphael, Kyren's ancient friend and former general.

Cursed Power: His blood-red eyes proved that he wielded forbidden dark energy. Six hundred years ago, he had sought immortality alongside the King—but chose the path of destruction.

The King's Fear: When Kyren said "he is coming," he meant an Ancient Shadow—a primordial dark entity Raphael now served as a messenger for, one that sought to devour the entire immortal realm.

2. Min-jun and the Green Eyes:

Min-jun's green eyes were no ordinary eyes.

Guardian of Nature: They symbolized healing and life. Min-jun was a descendant of an ancient Korean spiritual lineage that protected balance between nature and living beings.

Opposing Forces: Kyren embodied light and darkness, Raphael destruction, while Min-jun represented life and rebirth.

Bond with Nikita: Nikita's blue wings and Min-jun's green eyes together formed a rare magical equilibrium—perhaps the only force capable of saving the palace from catastrophe.

The Crisis

King Kyren now stood at a crossroads. On one side was Raphael, his old friend threatening war; on the other, Nikita drifting toward Min-jun, whose lineage had long been Kyren's enemy.

Sitting on the tree branch, Nikita gazed into Min-jun's green eyes as he whispered urgently,

"Nikita, that red-eyed man who has returned—his target is you. Come with me."

Confused, Nikita asked,

"Who is that red-eyed person, Min-jun? What are you talking about?"

Before she could finish—

Sudden Attack

Everything changed in an instant.

From behind, a pair of powerful arms wrapped around Nikita. A cold, rough voice whispered in her ear:

"Darling! Enough reminiscing—now it's my turn."

Before Min-jun or King Kyren could react, Raphael used his ability and vanished with Nikita, turning invisible in a heartbeat.

Nikita the Captive

The scene shifted to a dark, hidden chamber—perhaps a cave. Nikita reappeared there, her condition horrifying. Her four massive blue wings were chained to the walls, her hands bound tightly above her head.

Her long sky-blue hair fell messily over her face as she struggled in pain and fear. Her cute locket pulsed blood-red, trembling as if sending a distress signal to the King.

In the garden, Min-jun stood frozen, desperately trying to locate her with his green eyes.

And when King Kyren realized Nikita was gone, white lightning burst from his pale cat-like eyes in pure fury.

Raphael stepped closer, grinning cruelly. He knew Nikita was the King's only weakness.

Nikita's Defiance

Suddenly, Nikita calmed down.

Seeing this, Raphael's red eyes widened in surprise. He hadn't expected such courage from a captive.

She shook her bound hands slightly, brushed her hair aside, and said dismissively:

"Enough with the drama, Raphael. You're still just as crazy. You think these chains and invisibility tricks scare me? If your brother-in-law, King Kyren, finds out you're pulling this cheap prank on me, your wings won't survive!"

Nikita's Fire:

She knew Raphael was like a brother to the King. He wouldn't kill her—this was just a test. Her locket shifted from red back to pale blue as her fear faded.

Raphael's Reaction:

He burst into laughter, clapping his hands. The malice in his red eyes turned playful.

"Well done, darling! Kyren was right—you're special. I wasn't trying to scare you seriously. I was just checking what powers that old man gave you."

With a snap of his fingers, her restraints vanished. Nikita spread her four blue wings, steadied herself, then lightly shoved Raphael.

"I'll tell your brother-in-law you called me darling. Then we'll see how funny this is!"
