Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Shigenori's expression turned serious as he read my message.

After a brief pause, he spoke in a stern tone,

"I will investigate the cause and give you a satisfying answer. Please leave this to me."

I nodded in response, though I wasn't hoping for much.

All I wanted to know was whether he knew who was responsible for the misinformation.

If he did, I could easily force a confession using my cursed technique, Cursed Speech.

But if he didn't know, then there was nothing to be done.

I chose to believe that these two incidents were merely accidents.

After all, I had no memory of offending anyone, nor any reason for someone to deliberately target me.

Still, if someone truly was pulling strings behind the scenes, Shigenori's investigation alone might be enough to make them hesitate and lie low for a while.

Either way, I honestly didn't care much.

"Straight back home?"

Shigenori asked, glancing at me through the rearview mirror before starting the car.

"Or is there somewhere else you want to go first?"

Home, huh?

Hearing that word, a tired smile crept onto my lips.

Instead of answering, I immediately took out my phone and started typing.

[Shigenori-san, I want to take other missions as well—grade 2 and below. Please arrange them and drive to the next location.]

"Huh?!" Shigenori exclaimed.

"Inumaki-kun, you just exorcised five grade-2 curses! You need to rest before accepting another mission. Let other sorcerers handle it for now!"

Honestly, I wanted to take it easy too. I really did.

But today's plans were already ruined.

Because of the misinformation in the mission details, I had been forced to use my instant death ability, completely messing up my cursed energy reserves.

Either way, I would have to restart my training from scratch.

Just thinking about it made me feel irritated.

Honestly, killing curses felt far easier than slowly rebuilding my control through practice.

Still… I wanted to speak normally like everyone else.

So I couldn't give up on training.

I took my phone again and sent another message.

[Shigenori-san, right now I'm extremely pissed off. I need to vent my anger as soon as possible. Before I accidentally curse you or any other human, please assign all nearby grade-2-or-below missions to me immediately.]

I typed it in the politest way possible.

But the message itself was clear.

If you don't take me to another mission right now, I might use you as an outlet.

Shigenori's face instantly turned pale.

Even though he, like me, was a grade-2 sorcerer—more precisely, a former grade-2—there was no way he wanted to become a victim of my Cursed Speech.

Without wasting time, he began making calls while driving.

"Tomoe, do you have any missions you're having trouble dealing with?"

"Inumaki-kun wants to take another mission right now…"

"Do you think I didn't try stopping him?"

"If you want to come here and tell him yourself, be my guest, I won't!"

"Like hell I know what goes on in the mind of a genius!"

I gave him a strange look.

…Hey. I can hear everything.

Letting out a quiet sigh, I turned my gaze toward the window and thought, Status.

A thin panel of my system interface appeared before my eyes.

[-Status-

Name: Toge Inumaki

Age: 10

Template: Yogiri Takatou (0.1%)]

I scoffed at the percentage.

After all the killing I'd done since the age of six, after being reborn into this world, I had only extracted 0.1% of the template.

What was even more ridiculous was that even with just this 0.1%, I could easily kill grade-2 curses without any trouble at all.

Honestly, I was confident I could take down grade-1 curses as well if I encountered them.

In the world of jujutsu, only a handful of sorcerers could successfully exorcise grade-1 curses.

Yet here I was, at ten years old, capable of doing the same.

It was pure insanity.

That was the sheer absurdity of the Instant Death ability.

I clearly remembered how it all began, arguing online with some idiot.

The topic was Yogiri Takatou from My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered.

As usual, morons were comparing characters across different anime using the most brain-dead logic imaginable.

Someone even claimed that Rimuru, Goku, Shadow, or whatever overpowered protagonist they dragged out could somehow escape Yogiri's instant death.

I knew it was rage bait.

The kind of nonsense people post just to provoke others.

…But I still took the bait.

There's a saying, you can wake a sleeping person, but not one pretending to sleep.

I was completely enraged by the other person's shamelessness and stupidity.

I didn't even notice how much I was overreacting.

And then I died, from a heart attack.

Honestly, what else could I expect?

I was a fat shut-in who barely moved his body.

My doctor had advised me to exercise countless times, but I never listened.

Maybe in this world, I should take physical training seriously.…But not yet.

I needed to wait until my skeletal structure fully matured.

When I first woke up in this world as Inumaki, the Inumaki from Jujutsu Kaisen, I was beyond thrilled.

I wanted to meet every character, interact with them, and even get autographs.

Especially Yuji Itadori, my boy.

My one and only favorite MC among all anime.

He would always be on the very top of the list.

"Inumaki-kun, there are three missions currently available," Shigenori said.

"They are from Hachioji, Ome, and Akiruno respectively."

"Hachioji, an abandoned student dormitory. A Grade-2 curse with invisibility abilities. It is cunning enough to blend into its surroundings, making it extremely difficult to distinguish even for experienced sorcerers. The curse has escaped twice already, causing the mission to fail both times. The reported reason is that the curse can move from one place to another through mirrors."

"Ome, an old mountain tunnel on a forestry road. Two Grade-2 curses have been spotted, with one suspected to be a semi–Grade-1. Since there is no solid evidence confirming the involvement of a semi–Grade-1 curse, the mission remains classified as Grade-2. Yesterday, two Grade-2 sorcerers were dispatched. One died, and the other was severely injured. According to his testimony, the curse spirits are capable of mental attacks."

"Akiruno, an abandoned riverside shrine. A fox-type cursed spirit, suspected to be semi–Grade-1. It has the ability to manipulate water and launch water-based cursed attacks.

"Which one would you like to take first?"

His voice snapped me back to reality.

I immediately took out my phone and typed:

[Please go to whichever location is the nearest.]
