Chapter 7 - The Sovereign’s Indifference

Chapter 7: The Sovereign's Indifference

Carson turned slowly. When his eyes met Maya's, she felt a strange, cold shiver run down her spine. There was something in those grey depths that felt like looking into the vacuum of space.

"Carson?" she whispered, her voice faltering for a split second. Then, she laughed, her face hardening. "No. Carson is probably begging for scraps in the Outer Rim. You just look like him. A better-looking version of a loser."

Jax stepped forward, his Level 8 Mortal Foundation muscles bulging under his tactical vest. "You got a problem, kid? You're staring at my woman."

Carson ignored him. He turned back to the salesman. "The Supernova. I'll take three. One in this white, two in matte black. I also want the dealership's entire stock of Tier-8 engine coolants."

The showroom went dead silent. Marcus the salesman burst into a mocking guffaw. "Three? Kid, you couldn't afford the air in the tires! Security!"

"Wait," Carson said, pulling a plain black card from his pocket. It had no numbers, no name—only the gold-embossed seal of the Aegis Organization.

Marcus froze. His jaw literally dropped. As a salesman for the elite, he had seen this card in training manuals. It was a Sovereign-Grade Black Card. It had no credit limit because the owner was the bank.

"Run the card," Carson commanded.
