2: The meeting

Xavier's POV:

I sat in the car with Miss Brook and told John to take us back to the house. I can't believe Phoebe. She always wastes my time to talk to me about hanging out while there's still work to do. I could see how sad Miss Brook was when she sat in the car.

"Is something wrong Miss. Brook?"

"No, it's nothing." she said looking outside, avoiding my gaze.

I turned my head to look outside the tinted window, enjoying the happiness of people passing by with their friends, children or brothers. I wish I could go out and have fun but, I have to be perfect in everything I do. Which means no time for distractions.

Jenna's POV:

We finally arrived at Mr. Kim's house. We all got out to see a familiar black car, parked in front of the house.

"I can't believe they came this early." Mr. Kim said annoyed.

He walked in and I followed him. We entered to see his parents sitting on the couch watching tv. They both turned their focus on him.

"Hello son. How's everything going?" his dad, Levi asked.

He walked to them and sat on the couch right beside them. "Why are you guys here early?"

"Your mom missed you so we had to come in early."

Mr. Kim turned to look at his mom.

"Hi Xavier." his mom, Lenny said smiling warmly.

"Hi mother."

Okay this is too awkward. I need to get out of here.

I was about to leave when Mr. Kim said. "Where are you going Miss Brook?"

"Uhh.... nowhere." I said, nervously.

"Come and sit."

"But sir, your parents want to...."

"I said, come and sit." He said getting annoyed.

Ugh!! This man. Does he think I'm his bodyguard or something?

"Yes, Mr. Kim." I walked to the couch on the other side of his parents. I was about to sit when he spoke. "Beside me, Miss Brook."

"What...?!" I was surprised.

I don't understand why he's been acting this way since the last few months. He never let me sit beside him when we're at his house. And what's weird is he never allowed me to sit when they're having a conversation.

"Do you want me to say it again or do I have to come pull you here?" He said coldly.

I took a chair, brought it beside him and sat down, quietly.

"Xavier, why are you doing this? She has to go. This is family business." Levi said.

"I know, that's why I called her. She my secretary which is practically family." He said coldly.

His dad sighed. "Okay fine. I want to ask you what happened on the last blind date?"

"Nothing happened. Why?"

"You're asking why? as if everything's fine. Don't you want to get married?"

I was surprised, but I didn't show it.

Here it comes...

"No, I don't. You're here again with this marriage thing! I told you I don't need your help, I don't hate being single!"

"And I also hate that you're single and not married!" His dad said, angrily.

His mom touched his shoulder. "Please be calm, both of you. Levi, I'll talk to him."

He nodded and they both looked at Mr. Kim.

"Xavier, dad and I will give you more time to look for your true love. We won't pressure you into doing things you don't like."

"Okay." He murmured "But, that doesn't make any difference."

I heard him clearly and his parents didn't.

His mom smiled.

"But...." His dad started.

"No buts Levi. Let's just give him time or he might get married to an bad mannered woman."

His dad sighed. "You're right." He got up "See you later son, with your future wife."

His mom got up. "Bye dear."

They left the place and I was stunned.

What just happened?

"You can go now Miss Brook." He said staring at me.

"Oh, yeah." I got up and left.

*************************

I slumped on my bed pondering.

I can't believe he actually believes in love and also, what was I doing there anyway? Why did he make me sit beside him? I thought he was gonna say I'm his girlfriend. I'm really glad he didn't or they'd destroy me right on the spot. Sometimes, I just don't understand him.

I got up to go check the fridge for groceries for me to start cooking but there wasn't any. I decided to go buy more at the grocery store.

Xavier's POV:

I sat on my bed thinking about what my mom said. I never thought they would give me a chance to find my true love. I never liked romance because of what happened to my best friend. She had been treated badly because she loved someone. She's okay now but I still have that scene in my head.

Maybe I should've taken the opportunity to go have fun with Phoebe.

Phoebe and I had been hanging out since last year. I have been to a party with her and some friends. The party had mostly girls there, most of them saw me, surrounded me and started asking unnecessary questions like. "Do you have a girlfriend?" "Would you like to be my boyfriend?" and stuff like that.

I've been too busy acting here and there that I don't have time for myself. I kinda felt bad cuz of Miss Brook. I also haven't heard from Miss Brook ever since my parents left.

I have to go check up on her.

I got out of my room to go check if Miss Brook had another arranged meeting for me. When I got there, I scanned around the house to see if she was anywhere to be found. I couldn't find her in her room so, I asked John.

"John, have you seen Miss Brook?"

"I haven't Mr. Kim."

Where could she have gone to? She can't just vanish like that.

I took my car keys from John so I could search for her. John insisted he follow and I allowed.

I need to look for her and fast!
